No, just old. (I keed, I keed.) She's been one of those teen phenoms, and now like so many teen phenoms, she's falling off the wagon pretty hard.

No AI Rubber Banding , sir Creston?

/ PTO my work day, going home to buy Grid2.

Nope, none that I've seen so far. I'm only a few races in, mind, but I'm pretty easily pulling away from the opposition, something I was never able to do in Grid. (IIRC.)

Apple: Hey guys, yeah... uhhh, so, we like know we tried to sue you for bullshit reasons and everything, and that we've actively been trying to destroy your company, but uhh... can we get some more displays?

I hope Samsung just laughs and hangs up the phone on fucking Apple.

In other news... there are still Blackberry users? What, are they all Amish?

News Comments > GRID 2 Cockpit Mode?

Handling seems pretty good so far, but I will readily admit that I'm nowhere near a driving purist, so take that for what it's worth. I have four different cars in my garage and they definitely all drive pretty differently (even if 3 of them are classified as RWD/Drift cars.)

Drifting seems more difficult to pull off than I remember. I was drifting in Grid in minutes, but here I'm mostly just looking like the dipshits on youtube who want to make drifting videos and wind up crashing into a wall. But then every now and then I get it right and I smoothly sail through a corner and it's giggles all around. (And I'll just ignore the foolish belief by Codemasters that drifting through a corner is somehow quicker than just taking it normally.)

You can turn on manual shifting, but I haven't dug deeper enough to see if there are drivers' aids that you can turn on/off individually. The entire options menu seems a little sparse. That said, there are five difficulty modes for driving (from very easy to very hard) so I would imagine if there are driving aids, that those just get automatically turned off if you go up in diff.

Oh, and actually, Grid 2 has one awesome thing going for it over Grid 1. There is no rubberbanding by the AI. If you go 30 seconds up, you're 30 seconds up. None of this bullshit "The AI magically sticks to your bumper and if you make one mistake they'll pass you again."

Similarly, if you fuck up and fall behind, yeah, you're fucked. They're not going to go 20 mph until you catch up.

Every dev who implements rubber-banding in his racing game deserves to be fucking shot. So I'm glad to see Grid 2 doesn't have it.

No kidding. But how is it possible that nobody in that fucking company actually KNOWS anything, up to VP level and on? They're all obviously just guessing based off hearsay. The TVRemoteBox unveal makes the Surface launch look smooth in comparison.

News Comments > GRID 2 Cockpit Mode?
6. Re: GRID 2 Cockpit Mode? May 29, 2013, 10:49 Creston

I never use cockpit mode, but I can understand why the purists want it. The one thing that I always find annoying about cockpit mode is that no dev has apparently ever actually driven a car, and they all seem to think that your eyes should be level with the top of the steering wheel. I guess in dev world, everyone is a 98 year old lady who has to sit on a small crate just to be able to see out the window.

YOUR EYES ARE A LOT HIGHER UP THAN THIS WHEN IN A CAR, FELLAS.

If this really is already baked into the game to be sold as DLC, Codemasters deserves to go fucking bankrupt. But it seems more like someone did some clever hacking with the original Grid files.

I'm enjoying Grid 2, but so far it's exactly like Grid 1 with the exception of the "world racing series" broohaha.

Also, Spectralmeat, stop driving so fucking fast!

Tina, Mordecai, Brick and Lilith are playing a game we call “Bunkers and Badarses”, but anyone who’s older then 3 years old will realise its just, you know, a Dungeons and Dragons type of experience, and the entirety of the DLC takes place within this D&D type module that Tina is DM’ing. So now we’ve got this dual story going on, where in the main campaign, you’re trying to take down the Handsome Sorcerer and rescue the beautiful queen and restore light to the world, and all this other generic fantasy bullshit.

But this DLC is actually about how Tina isn’t acknowledging that (redacted), and (redacted) and a bunch of other characters died during the events of the main game, and that the D&D campaign is like a way for her to accept that basically, a bunch of her friends are dead.

That sounds like it could be pretty cool.

AP is very similar to TC, just a lot more refined technically. More community scripts etc, and some of the big names have changed. Other than that it's really the same game.

But yeah, Egosoft is awesome support-wise. Right up there with CD Projekt.

Wasn't lastpass itself hacked, though? Like maybe a year or so ago?

Edit: it seems like they noticed some strange activity and acted on the worst-case scenario, which is in itself commendable. From their security blog, they also appear to be using very strong encryption with a 100,000 round salt, which is very encouraging.

I think I may just switch to them.

I've been following most "good password" tendencies (no duplicates, long password, random capitals and special characters, etc), and it's fucking scary just how easily they can guess those because they happened to have part one, part two and part three of said password in separate stages in their combination attack file.

And sure, you can say "Well, don't use MD5" but if that's what a particular website uses, you're really shit out of luck.

I guess it really is time to use a password manager, but the password manager sites aren't any more secure than the average website.

In other news, Curiosity's prize has now been known and apparently it fucks every backer of their Godus project. Wonderful.

I can't help but think anyone that gave money to that earned that surprise...

The only somewhat cool part is that he gets a percentage of Godus' revenue. But what's this that he gets to decide how it gets played? Something tells me that 400K worth of backers are going to be really, REALLY fucking pissed at that idea. Have fun, fellas!

In the end, the reward to Curiosity was a typical Moleyeneueueux game. Overhyped and really quite pathetic once it was revealed.
