News Comments > EA: Forum Ban Equals Game Bans - Updated
125. Re: EA: Forum Ban Equals Game Bans Oct 30, 2008, 20:39 Buckermann

I think EA is not going far enough.
Instead EA should contact the ISP of the offender to terminate their internet access, get the goverment of (whatever nation) to revoke their citizenship, and sue them for millions of monies for breach of EULA.

Seriously, everybody can have a bad day and say/write something which they regret the next day. Did you never told one of your friends to get lost when you were angry about something? How ridiculous would it be if you would then never again be allowed to speak to them.

Stupid idea.

D4rkKnight,
some people don't want to block ads on Blue's, because that's the way he pays the bills.
I myself have Blue's News on the exception list for Adblock Plus. And if there are annoying ads, I just turn the adblocker back on.

I hope he gets the same treatment from his (pontential)customers like Stardock. Which will probably a bit more difficult for a one man show.

But none the less, I predict that in one year he will be a MIILIONAIRE!!!

News Comments > On Spore Piracy
28. Re: No subject Sep 14, 2008, 14:59 Buckermann

[VG]Reagle,
EAs DRM for Spore did nothing at all to stop piracy. The game was available 3 or 4 days before the release on BitTorrent sites.
Pirates don't care for DRM. It gets allways cracked sooner or later. Legitimate customers are the ones who are fucked.
Just the same as Microsofts WGA. Pirates don't care, there are enough cracks for it. People who bought a copy and were flagged as pirates are again fucked.

The game was available 3 or 4 days before the NA release on the Torrent sites. Fully cracked, without online functionality though.
So, this Securom stuff curbs piracy? I'm not so sure about that. But I'm quite sure that it certainly doesn't help sales.

This has nothing to do with being green, or enviroment friendly. Just marketing.

It's a nice game, and I don't regret buying it BUT:
1. The camera handling is terrible.
2. Securom makes Baby Jesus cry... and crashes my explorer.exe on a right-click on the dektop.
3. Did I mention the camera?

Other than that, I don't really have any complaints. Just don't forget that this isn't a multi-million euro production.

I should have probably mentioned it in my first post, but google for "securom explorer.exe" for more information. Including on how to get rid of that annoying behavior.

I love pirates.
Yesterday I bought a german game with securom protection. After I installed the game, a right click on the desktop, or trying to delete a icon results in a crash of the explorer.exe.
A crack from Gamecopyworld fixed it.
Want to decrease piracy? Don't sell shit.

I just bought a german game with securom protection that has the same explorer.exe crash.
Thanks to the pirates a fix for this is already on gamecopyworld.
I'm starting to hate securom as much as starforce.

After they released the demo for DL, DreamCatchers said that they would fix all the broken shit for the retail version.
Guess what, I was one of the idiots who bought this piece of a buggy, unfinished mess.
Stop releasing broken games, and maybe people will buy them, instead of downloading them.

Edit: I just saw this in the press release:
meticulously detailed indoor and outdoor environments
HA! When hell freezes over... maybe.

This may be anecdotal evidence, but literally everybody I know here in germany, who plays computergames , also plays first person shooter games (well, maybe except for my mom. Who only plays Soduko on her PC).
And of all the people I know who played Crysis, AFAIK nobody finished it.
Make of this want you want.
