Anyone remember that Republic: Revolutions game a while back? That tried to be a political simulator (of sorts) and was quite an interesting, intelligent game.

Yes, I remember and it was almost as boring as Myst. Geo-political games can be fun but local politics is really, really boring...

I'm really struggling hard here, but I just can't see the problem with having a cd in the drive to play.

Personally I dont need the extra wear and tear on my CD drive. I dont need it spinning when it doesnt have to and I dont want to have to open and close the door more than I have to just to switch games; my PC isnt an Atari.

I also dont want the extra wear and tear on my CD/DVD. Incidently, according to the LAW I am legally entitled to a backup copy of any media in my possession that was obtained legally, at least here in the US.

Copy protection schemes do NOT work, all they do is cause problems for the honest gamer. Remember the 4.036 (I think) patch for UT? Remember how it removed all CD checks? Wasnt that because their CD checking was causing too many problems? So why didn't Epic remember?

Well I am running a 9700 Pro but I was having a few issues with the 4.3's. I read someone posted on the BF:V forum to try the 3.7's and it cleared up all my problems and I can use AA/AF at will again.

Get the roach...

I am still wondering wtf AMD is f*king around at the 2 gig level, when Intel is heading into the 4 gig neighborhood? Talk about dragging your ass.

That's funny, I was just wondering when Intel will quit f*king around with 32 bits while AMD is already in the 64 bit neighborhood...

I find nowadays it's best to let games sit for a little while instead of run out day 1 and buy.

Games ALWAYS need some pretty major patching so why not let some other guy be the post-beta tester?

The industry has retrained me from buying ASAP to checking out forums to see how much bitching there is and how much of it may affect me (this is why I didnt get LOMAC), then waiting for AT LEAST the first patch.

Sometimes this happens after the game reaches the bargain bin or is at least reduced a little.

Blue, I had awful recurring back pain for a while and I was not able to nail down the cause...I thought it was my shoes so I got new ones but that wasnt it, I thought it was my work chair but that wasnt it, then someone suggested that the fact that I always keep my wallet in my left rear pocket was causing my back pain.

I never put my wallet in my back pocekt anymore and I havent had any more back pains since...

I hope it's that easy for you too.

I was looking forward to it a couple fo years ago but I sooo lost interest after seeing screenies. It looks like Janes Fleet Command which (besides having THE cheesiest cutscenes in gaming history) was a pretty decent game...a couple of years ago. Harpoon 4 looked so dated it would have been direct to bargain bin anyway. This is a decision that makes sense if it had been made a year or two ago.

I completely ignore when others whine about what I choose to do within the bouds of the games rules.

Base camping is completely legitimate. If you and your team dont own your own house, what are you doing on the rest of the field? Ever hear of securing your perimeter? Harrassment tactics to keep the enemy on their heels are completely legitimate. When I see some pussy-ass server that forbids it I leave immediately and go find a real server with folks that know how to play and dont whine to make up for their own incompetence.

Actually I thought the rat bomb was pretty clever. The bugs sucked though and I hate being BS'd. I see people coming into threads here at Blue's talking about game haters, but experiences like Devestation and Echelon make a gamer weary...game is released before it's ready, fixes are promised, fixes never delivered, gamer gets screwed.

No one can deny that game companies are taking advantage of gamers' broadband connections to patch premature releases, which in itself is pure bullshit. But when they dont deliver after they get your money, that's fraud.

That's why I am so excited when I see a game released in tip-top shape like Tron 2.0, a true work of art with PROFESSIONAL standards.

What I dont get is that I thought the hyper threading didnt really matter in most games today...or all...are there any situations where average joe gamer needs hyper threading?

Also, who is going to pay more money for a purely 32 bit chip when they can get a 64/32 bit chip for less? Silly Intel...I think anyone that would make that choice wouldnt look like an extreme gamer, more like an extreme idiot.
