Edit: I am starting to see an anti-Xbox bias in this site. Negative Xbox news, get priority posting even if they are fake like this one. Meanwhile absolute silence in terms of negative Playstation/Sony news, like for example, a few days ago when they shut down deviation games or yesterday when Sony forcefully removed a demo from user accounts.

To defend Blue, either your exact references or one's saying similar was posted here as well as an FYI. And his post follow up of it clearly indicated his personal doubt in it. But his job is to share news, not decide what you personally deem is relevant.

Is there a significant difference between the two? That is to say, can you make batches if both at the same time without it actually doubling the work, say only 1.5 times the work. It's just more chilli for you. And the variety might allow for tweaks with other meals here and there.

4gbps is plenty given that most internet connections are still in the hundreds of mbps.

I think the driving technical side is two fold. One, general future proofing. Two in the more short-term, wireless 4K HDR video at high frame-rate; which would enable a lot of abilities across devices and platforms and such. The other force is general business of "new things for growth".

So basically pulls the same watts as an electric water heater.

More like two thirds of the wattage of a typical water heater. Your typical 60 gallon tank water heater is 4500 watts according to a quick Google search.
Likely referring to a kettle water heater for tea gov'nor.

I currently have a couple screens that can do up to 120hz, and I can't tell any difference above around 90hz. A 480hz refresh rate seems entirely pointless.

Agreed. I once gamed on a 240hz monitor (it's still sitting on a shelf in my garage, as a spare and a test monitor I use when building gaming PCs for friends and family). When I went to ultrawide, I went with a 144hz monitor. No regrets. Down to 90 or 100hz I honestly see and feel no difference going any higher. I have my gaming system capped at 120fps, and some games capped at 100 to keep my games smooth, and keep the 4090 from needlessly overworking and wasting power, even though I have games that can easily hit 200fps.

The rationalization for higher refreshes mostly comes from pro gamers, who claim it reduces input lag, but I question that, as even at 144hz it's been shown that the refresh is faster than the limits of human hand-eye reflexes - at least mine.

I dunno, maybe if I was 20 years old, and an esport champ, it would make a smidge of a difference, but I think it's mostly bragging rights for most home gamers.

The competitive advantage does not come from the hand/eye coordination and speed advantage beyond ~120 Hz +- some percentage for human variance. It comes from certain game engines that have collision an physics tied to rendering speed, and some unique intricacies caused by that with competitive gaming. Which I find is lame and more and more competitions are setting a reasonable limit so nobody has a tech advantage.

It's intent is for those who don't have one to be able to cheaply try it out. It will also work on other devices, I.e. PC or Android. Etc.

This highlights the oddity of excluding this honor for uniformed forces from the Uniform Monday Holiday Bill. This passed in 1968 to move several Federal holidays to fall on Mondays each year, but this isn't one of them.

If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday will be treated as a holiday (See 4 U.S.C. 6103(b).) If a holiday falls on a Sunday the following Monday will be treated as a holiday (See Section 3(a) of Executive Order 11582, February 11, 1971.)

I have always tried my hardest to get parts without damn lights. But sometimes something with no lights of equivalent quality cost crazy more. So I more often than not have gotten around to just removing the LEDs from stuff where I can. I get LEDs are relatively efficient, but I just see it as a waste of power. My whole house power usage is 1/4th the same houses around here. That is a combination of improving the insulation but also not just wasting power unnecessarily.

That. And there are millions of people who play video games that were not even alive when they came out. So ya know, just making them work effortlessly on modern systems with just enough work and improvements to change em slightly and not take a lot of work.

To add onto BoP response. You will also hear more from people having Nvidia GPUs reporting problems because they have a larger market share. It is called selection biasis. Selection biasis affects everything, learn about it and think about it whenever anyone tells you anything.

Amongst Europeans I engage with the Texas BBQ is famous. They think that I, a fresh faced New Yorker loves Texas BBQ. They even stereotype me as a person who endlessly BBQs. I did BBQ in my past, but only burgers and Hot Dogs. But I dislike being stereotyped, due to something I have nothing to do with.

You didn't do BBQ. What you described is called grilling.

FSR2 works on Nvidia gpus. It is open source. So what is the issue/big deal? Maybe yes on Nvidia gpus theirs works better. But from a production perspective if you can code for one that works for everyone why not implement it first? What am I missing?

There's almost no difference between googling the necessary command prompt entries or how to navigate the convoluted Windows menu system to get what you need done. As a primarily Windows user, I'd almost prefer to do things with the command prompt. I could just keep a list of common commands in a text file and it would be faster. Instead I have to either look up how to navigate the menu or edit the registry. Same-same.

Huh?
It has been since the unliked Windows 8 you click the start menu or hit the start menu button on your keyboard and start typing what you want. It essentially behaves like a command prompt to quickly bring up what you are looking for.

Want to calibrate your color display? Windows Key + CA (and it is probably there, might need an L), want to force audio to mono, Windows Key + MONO. Done, easy peasy. It combines the best of both worlds, the ease of GUIs with quick access to things of command prompt and shortcut keys.

Unless you are only running the exact same software all day and not using the Windows key + stuff, you are wasting time. I literally (not figuratively) use it to start every application, access any settings, etc.
