I blame the reviewers...

Sadly, I thought those cutscenes might have been one of the few semi-great things about SS2, but I couldn't be certain as they were so hopelessly fucked up

i stopped playing the game because of them as well. but then a friend and i hooked up a LAN and played through the entire game in Co-Op mode, and this game KICKS ASS when you co-op it. it wasn't until after co-oping it that i learned about the V-Synch fix. and although i intend to, i have yet to replay the game with V-Synch off. i've only done the first 5 or 7 levels...

Oblivion has me now...

Maybe if the audio-sync in the cutscenes hadn't all been completely screwed it

turning off V-Synch fixes that problem... i know because it happened to me as well.

9. Re: Vista Mar 25, 2006, 09:50 tron

I don't really see a need to upgrade to 2GB for XP unless you really enjoy supporting the memory tech industry.

i agree 100%. i have yet to see an example of a situation where 2GB (instead of 1GB) of RAM made a worthwhile difference in performance. yet many people who have 2GB act like it is something you need in a gaming rig. i run 1GB in my machine, but i wish i had a couple hundred dollars i didn't need. i would buy another 1GB and do before and after benchmarks and see just how big of a performance gain i got. probably less than 10 3D marks, and maybe an extra FPS or 2 in Q4, HL2, or Oblivion.

i have yet to see a benchmarking report that justifies having 2GB. anyone in here know of such a report?

just... wow.

this is likely the best $40 i have ever spent on a PC game.

i only hope that the level of polish i have witnessed in the first 4 hours of play carries on until the end. if it does, this may be the best game i have ever played. if only i could freeze RL until i finish this.

4. Price Mar 22, 2006, 09:42 tron

best price i have seen so far (in the Cleveland area) is the CompUSA & Circuit City ads from the Sunday paper which list the game at $39.99.

everywhere else has it for $49.99 or more.

i enjoyed DS2 quite a bit. i hope this expansion offers up at least 20 hours of play, and that it has a good story.

i'm looking forward to it.

So while the concept of the game looks extremely cool, I'm not sure that it will be able to hold my interest

i'm under the impression that you could spend A LOT of time just getting your species evolved to an intergalactic culture. so, if there is 50 hours of gameplay available (and probably way more than that, if you choose to customize everything yourself) before you go intergalactic, anything else would just be icing on the cake.

tron I point you to the once Ivory Tower in Texas, which was home of Ion Storm.

having a failure on your resume, even a colossal one, doesn't mean much. most of us fail from time to time. go look at the pictures of john on his and his wife's websites. does he look like a sad guy to you?

his life seems sad enough
he has a beautiful young wife who is into video games. he owns his own company. he has plenty of money. he is still doing what he loves - developing games.

not much about that seems sad to me.

I have yet to find a diet drink that tastes as good as the fully-loaded version

diet dr. pepper is the only one that gets it close, but even that stuff isn't perfect.

All those great Omega 6's but supposedly less Mercury

i'll have to give them a try!

I'm six feet tall and this time last year I was 180 lbs. Now I'm pushing 210

(in Tony Little v/o) you can do it! (end v/o)

i was 198 in early/mid december, i'm now down to 181 (i'm 5' 10"). my goal is to lose 30 pounds, and i'm 2/3 there... if my lazy ass can do it, anyone can.

Really - kick the daily caffiene habit and you'll be feeling fine before long

so true. i don't use the stuff any more, and i'm more awake and cheerful early in the morning than most people i know. of course, i do indulge from time to time, and i have a weakness for Coke...

makes sense, Ratty. i have my own motivational "placebo" types of things that i indulge in. thankfully, mine are mostly free. i like to keep lists and charts of my progress. i do occassionally indulge in certain things like organic foods, soy products (soy chocolate milk rules!), and i get in modes where i insist on eating lots of a certain type of food. i know it doesn't really matter a whole lot, but if it motivates me to continue in my pursuit of good health, then so what? no one can doubt the power of a placebo - even one that the user is aware of!

you know what is the best? not drinking any of this over-priced crap, but instead getting up and running or biking or doing any kind of regular aerobic excercise that will get your endorphins activated. it's free, it feels great, and it will improved you whole life!

but, this probably isn't the right place for that kind of thinking... is it?

best co-op FPS ever.

i wasn't a big fan of the single player mode, but in co-op this game rocks.

i seem to remember Steve Martin being particularly wicked when he hosted the Oscars. he too got a cold reception, though he was much funnier (and more evil) that Stewart was, IMO.
