Actually, Weird Al *wasn't* the first to say that...thus the quote marks making it badges or badgers

i was actually referring to the "stinking badgers" quote, not the original "stinking badges" line, which was first spoken in "treasure of the sierra madre".

and as for me being a youngster - i bet i'm older than you!

"Badge(r)s? Badge(r)s? We don't need no stinkin' badge(r)s!"

actually, weird al yankovich said it first - back in 1989 in the movie UHF.

i agree, dantastic - the more bullets the better. i was just reading an uber-sized update the other day (game movies, i think) and was thinkng to myself how much easier and faster it would be to read if it were in bullet format.

looks good blue: functional and easier to read. stick with it, i say.

Bronco, WarPig,

i am more than a bit surprised at both the Colts and Browns D's - though holcomb was *not* himself that game. i'm hoping it's just "first time starter" jitters. it was freakish to see those two particular teams in a defensive gridlock for 4 quarters though. holcomb and manning combine for 4 INT's and no TD's - wtf? it was beautiful to see Davis' "speed speed speed, tackle tackle tackle" plan finally come to life. our D is *fast* and our open-field tackles were sweet. i'm still stunned by our lacklust O though. hopefully you're right, WarPig - Dungy may have turned the Colts into a team with respectable D. i sure hope so...

anyway - good luck tonight Bronco... i'm rootin' for the eagles, personally (because i dislike the Bucs). 20 minutes until showtime!

At least back then the Broncos were always good for an embarrassing Super Bowl rout.

true! thanks for bringing that up, warpig. the only redemption we got here was to watch them get beat in the big game after letting them slip away from us in the last seconds of the championship games. and yeah, the "drive" was somewhat acceptable as we actually got beat by some great football playing - the fumble was just... just... <sob>... can't go back there...

i am hyped though... in a mere 2 hours our new season begins. while i don't think we'll make the playoffs as anything above a wild-card team i am very excited to see Kelly Holcomb in charge. i don't know if you guys saw what he did to Pittsburgh in last year's playoff game - but it was an awesome spectacle. better than anything i've ever seen a quarterback do in a Browns uniform. the 3rd highest passing yardage in playoff history... we may give up a lot of points this year - but we are likely going to score a hell of a lot ourselves.

A lot of talent. Multiple trips to the AFC championship games. THE DRIVE

Doesn't sound awesome to me. Sounds painful.

how dare you mention that!

yeah, i know... i've lived in (near) cleveland all my life and i've been a football fan since i was 9 so i felt the pain as much as anyone. however, those were only the bad moments. many teams those years never had the heartbreaks we did, but they also didn't even get into the position to experience them. so, the ride was awesome each year, but we never quite made it. imagine how we felt after the '95 Indians...

that said, i'd rather have had all the fun followed by the tough times than have just remained mediocre all those years. there was more good than bad.

I'm beginning to understand how the Bernie led Browns felt.

i imagine your taking about the 1990's under kosar? the late 80's were awesome with him around, but when bellichick (however you spell his name) took over it turned into a fiasco.

The Disneyfication of the world is scary as hell.

tragic, maybe: scary, nah. however, i was very shocked/delighted to see that they (disney) actually had the audacity to consider "sponsoring" the year 2000. heh heh... just like in Infinite Jest (Year of the Trial Size Dove Bar - my personal favorite). it's always morbidly fascinating to watch the big corporations try to envelope humanity... and it's always a happy relief that they fail.

Interesting story.

more like frightening story...

“It would be nice to know why I love Disney,” he says. “Because I could use it in some kind of marketing program to attract other people.”

is this guy for real? it's like he has no soul of his own, just a Borg-like desire to assimilate the rest of humanity.

“Trekkies are devoted to some stupid pop-culture fad,” Doug says finally. “Disney fans believe in the magic.”

uhhhh... yeahhhhh... suuure, buddy.

Switching gears, what did Mr. Chatbear do?

i'd like to know that myself. i don't know if you were in yesterdays ootb forums, ray, but fredster was being about as horribly rude and crude as a person can be about blue's loss (i mean, he was *really* sick). it got to the point where blue deleted every post by fred, offensive or not. i hope that whatever it was that happened, it gives blue more power over morons.

When life hands you lemons, find a bag of sugar and make lemonade!

take your own advice, shane... this girl will probably understand what happened when you finally get to talk to her. let her know how upset you were to miss the date and you'll have a funny story to tell in the future if you guys spend a lot of time together.

and hey, if she never forgives you and won't listen to your side of the story - well, then she obviously has temper and communication problems and you're better off without her in your life anyway... imagine how she'd respond if something truly serious happened...

either way this is a blessing in disguise as you'll get to learn something about her personality and nature before even your first date!

good luck, man...

i think that the right to own hand guns is helpful in that it makes people think more carefully about the consequences of their actions. for example, a friend of mine used to live above a bar. people were always banging on his door asking if he knew where "so-and-so" was or if they could use his phone, etc... many people even tried to enter without knocking. finally sick of it, he put a poster on his door that was a picture of a hand gun with the text "nothing inside here is worth your life".

he was never bothered again.

If you liked Gothic, you're gonna' love Gothic 2

i've heard a lot of hype for gothic 2, though i've never played gothic... what is the gameplay comparable to? is it like diablo, or BG, or what?
