after work I'm going out to track down a pc version of Morrowind in anticipation for Oblivion ..can anyone tell me which mods/patches I should download?

i found Morrowind Gold (the game plus both expansions) on Half.com for $18 just two days ago, they had many other copies available for similar prices.

as stated elsewhere in this thread, the NoCD patch is helpful and gives a performance boost. also, there is an unofficial patch for the game, version 1.6.3b, (just google it) i was reading about (and have downloaded) that fixes all the bugs the official patches fix, plus several hundred more.

(well, you could always grab another 512mb of ram)

why bother? the performance difference between 1GB and 2GB of RAM is negligible. since he has 1.5GB, why get more? also, it is better to have 1GB of high-performance RAM than 2GB of generic stuff.

I'd say grab it if you aren't interested in playing the new one. i doubt you'll be disappointed

cool. i just found a copy on half.com for $18 and i bought it. but buying this has othing to do with not being interested in the new one. in fact, i am buying it so that i can appreciate the new one even more - and to keep me busy until it comes down to a reasonable price!

thanks for the great feedback, Semantics... i find that being overpowered for the main quest is a problem with most RPGs if you are the kind of player who goes after every side-quest and tries to uncover every bit of gameworld and find every hidden item and secret area (like i do). i'm no programmer, but i have often wondered why RPGs can't simply scale the enemy power to fit your character level. at the very least, you'd think that boss HPs would be variable...

nin,

1) that does kind of suck...

2) hopefully that won't be a problem now! the game being a resource hog is why i never played it or even looked into it back in 2002 when it was released. i'm guessing that having over 6x the system requirements should eliminate framerate problems. as for the loading, well, hopefully having a good PC will make for short load time...?

what did you think of the gameplay?

hey guys, i'm thinking of picking up the gold edition of Morrowind. i'd like to hear from anyone who played through the game and has comments about it - good and bad. what was awesome and what sucked about the game? i'm a fan of RPG's like DS I & II, Diablo I & II, BG I & II, and i like old-school console RPG's - so i enjoyed DQ VIII on the PS2 a lot.

why is the word "ass" in this headline? it isn't in the linked article anywhere, or in the product pictures.

if i recall correctly, the into movie for D2 (the one with the demon imps jumping out of the fire after "the wanderer" loses control in the tavern) won an award for best aminated short - but i have no idea what the award was or who presented it. my favorite movie is the intro to the expansion pack depicting Baal's arrival at Mt. Arreat. i look for a link about the award(s) but couldn't find any info.

if this guy's info is dead-on, then i am very happy to hear it. it has been six years since D2, and i'm hungry for more of the story. and blizzard cinematics alone are always worth the price of the game.

now, what about SC2?

it was one of those things where it was a separate team, and I guess we just didn't oversee them tight enough, and things just drifted

yeah, it was because it was a separate team. how do they explain the drifiting the primary team has been doing for 10 years?

well, here is one Christian who agrees with what you are saying.

but i also have to add that if you "think" you are a Christian, then you *are* a Christian. even if you aren't a very good Christian, even if you don't quite practice or even understand the message of Christianity - you are still a Christian. that is because God understands just how flawed we all are, some much more so than others.

they cashed in on the Matrix name, and his game sold on the name alone

that, and the fact that game's plot was advertised as having been written by the W. Brothers (brother and sister now, i suppose) and was supposed to reveal new story elements. that is why i bought it. the fact that it was a steaming pile of crap is why i never got beyond the third level and why i ended up selling it on half.com for $6.

Because he AGREED with you? Jeeze.

uh, no...

because he did a much better job of saying what i was trying to express. he took it a step farther than i did, and made it more complete and logical.

is that okay?

i agree that the matrix games sucked (in terms of control especially).... but i also agree with what he is saying here. the Devs have to design the game for the mass market, not the hardcore crowd. if they want to stay in business, that is. that is why Blizzard games have always sold so well. and he is right about ratings from players being higher than those of reviewers. go look at gamespot's review scores. most of the games rate .2 - .8 points higher in the reader scoring.

I don't know what's more sad, the idiot driving around sticking his xbox out the window, or all the loosers camping out to buy one

the video looked fake to me... the box appears to be empty when it hits the ground, and look how easily the "thief" lifts it when he "steals" it. looks like he's picking up an empty box...
