welp all my expectations with this game just went down the toilet. Not that I think Liam Neeson is a bad actor, but the money that was used to pay him (which I'm sure is a considerable amount) could have been used to hire a variety of 'unknown' voice actors or dare I say programmers to complete the game. Maybe some writers and more artists too.

As long as news shows and tv channels fawn all over the actions of these idiots to get better ratings. The more idiots there will be to take their shot at immortality by the use of mass murder.

Something to consider. |

I think it says alot about the quality of Sports Interactive's game NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007. When they can't afford to do a sequel yet a game as action packed and intense as Ship Sim 2006 can afford to do an add-on.
Something for the guys over at SI to think about.

This news greatly saddens me. I was also REALLY looking forward to this game. Now with the subscription based multiplayer I will pass it by for now. Maybe when it hits the 15-20 dollar bins I might check it out. I can only play half the game with the money I pay for the box game then I want to pay only half.
On a side note, this could produce an unwanted side effect. If more games go for the subscription/multi-play and people stop buying these PC games. Then I become worried that the publishers won't come to the correct conclusion: that subscription based multiplayer is bad and should be removed. Instead I can see publishers going: hey look ANOTHER good PC game that didn't sell, guess we should just stick with consoles. Either way it seems like we are going to lose

Microsoft: Gaming For Zune Is Being Con |

Well thats nice that they want gaming on Zune.
Now, all they have to consider for the Zune to work are these things:
Not, DRMing non DRM'd files when sending them to friends.
Reading protected video files.
Making Zune compatible with FairPlay and Plays for Sure.
Allowing WI-Fi connectibility to things other than other Zunes.
Making it compatible on Mac's.
Retransmitting media to other Zunes so media can be shared.
Until they fix these 'features'. Gaming on Zune really isn't all that important.

To me it seems like for Microsoft its business as usual.
The breakdown:
Windows needs to sell Vista and like all companies they want to sell LOTS of Vista.
Whats one way to sell Vista, by selling systems.
Whats a major reason that people buy new systems, to play the latest cutting edge games.
But what happens when most developers are dropping PC games in favor of Consoles. Less new cutting edge games are created. With less new games out there, the reason to upgrade becomes a less driving force. Less systems sold=less Vista sold (either by regular or OEM methods.
So what we're seeing here may be less of 'win the hearts and minds of gamers' and more of 'win the hearts and minds of game developers'.

Palm Hit by Patent Lawsuit |

Damn these IP lawsuits are really starting to become annoying. These patent holding companies should not be allowed to file these so called infringement suits unless they've actually developed tech off these patents AND they've lost money due to the other companies 'infringment'.
Tired of bottom-feeder 'companies' that exist only to profit on the hard work of others in the REAL world.

I remember Asheron's Call end of beta ....for like 3 days in a row you would walk around see cities and villages slowly corrupt and be destroyed. Towards the end you had to watch for random meteor strikes that would take out anything...saw one take out a city:)

The one line I liked about the art video game debate remarked something like how computer games weren't art because they relied on the audiences participation as opposed to 'art' which relied on the creators control to deliver the message.
Yet one thing bugged me about that.
If you have the worlds greatest painting/sculpture/play delivering the most important message of all time and no one sees it or talks about it. Is it still art? If the answer would be no, then isn't the aspect of audience participation a crucial non-bypass-able requirement.
Then wouldn't that mean, much to the chagrin of some, that computer games are in fact art. Just a much different form of it.
