News Comments > New York Game Bill Passes
2. Re: Idiot Politicians Jun 25, 2008, 11:07 UttiniDaKilrJawa

I'd like to offer my congrats to these fine politicians for passing a bill that forces the gaming companies to do what they've been doing for the past 10-15 years. Way to go.

On next weeks agenda for the state:

-Pass a law requiring water to be wet at all times.
-Start a committee on passing a resolution to have gravity make things heavy.
-Start an action committee to fund research on a resolution to look into the prospects of creating a bill that will insure the Earth will continue to revolve around the Sun.

News Comments > Penny Arcade Episode One Demos
9. Re: No subject May 21, 2008, 12:56 UttiniDaKilrJawa

Just got it on the 360. Played through the little intro/tutorial. So far, it amuses me. The game play seems pretty standard JRPG. Time goes by, your chars abilities charge up and when they are full you attack. When your enemies' timers are full, they attack. The inclusion of an overkill mini-game breaks up the monotony of regular combat. Special attack timer fills up, you unleash the attack by use of a timing mechanism(think similar to Lost Odessey combat ring)

Visually, its pure Penny Arcade. Bright colors, blocky shapes and general wackyness. Not sure bout the 20 dollar price tag still. I'll make up my final decision on the true value once I've finished the game.

1. DDR PS3? May 17, 2008, 10:21 UttiniDaKilrJawa

Weird that for the 10th anniversary they have DDR's for 360, Wii, and PS2 but for some reason have left the PS3 out?

Wonder why Konami is being like that?

Grrrrr. The one time I go with my gut and actually cancel a preorder is the one time they cave in and fix the offeding problem. Oh well, still too little too late. That cash went to a WoW card and some Rock Band songs <shrug>.

News Comments > Federal Video Game Bill
22. Re: No subject May 7, 2008, 23:24 UttiniDaKilrJawa

I work at a Gamestop in my home city. The interesting thing is we are already doing everything this bill demands. As far as I know virually every place that sells video games does the same.

I sell a game to a child under 17 without ID. I lose my job. A fellow worker does the same? Guess what? Gone. The real punchline comes in when we have a 7 year old come up with GTA in tow. We tell the parent that its rated M that it includes violence, language, sexual content, drug references, etc, etc. Then comes the real kick in the nuts. The PARENT goes 'oh whatever they see worse than that on tv anyway' and buy it for them. Right there is where the failure comes in. Not at the retail levl, but at the PARENT level.

Now, what happens when the government wins and gets this bill law. What about movies? How many theatres ID kids for movies? How many retailers do that? What happens when the movie is 'Unrated'. We see that all the time. Lil Jimmy cant buy Halo but has no problem walkin into <insert your favorite retail prefix>Mart and buys Hostel no problems. Guess we have to regulate that as well. No problem done.

Then we have magazines. Lot of magazines like GQ and Vanity Fair have some pretty racy pics. What now? They're not rated how can we make sure kids dont get their hands on it. Guess we need a rating system for printed word too. DONE. Look at that ..now we can regulate magazines and books too. I think we can all see where something like this could go.

It seems pretty silly to help get the ball rolling on a systematic dismantling of 1st amendment rights to make sure stores do what they are already doing. But then again, this is a silly country. Dismantled by the people for the people.

Was one of those unplanned sort of things. You know the kind that starts off with that infamous phrase 'I'll quit right after I accomplish <insert video game achevement here>'. Just one thing lead to the next lead to the next , before ya know it..72 hrs...POOF! ehehe

I always thought the phrase was

'Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door'

not

'Scribble down an idea about a better mousetrap then sue the pants off the guy that actually builds it once the world beats a path to his door.'
