News Comments > Rendition Guantanamo Rendered Moot
26. Re: Rendition Guantanamo Rendered Moot Jun 4, 2009, 16:12 Xoxotl

i wouldnt be surprised if these guys got some bullshit from Homeland security over "terrorist training materials" or something fucked up like that

Space Captain... not sure how US Homeland Security can be blamed for censoring a game being developed by Scots in Scotland. Just like it's improbable to Blame Bush... the guy's been out of office for six months now.

If it was R*, they would have said "Fuck you, you redneck, pedophile, right-wing arseholes. We'll develop the games we want to develop!" and then sell a million copies based on the controversy alone.

I don't recall Rockstar pretty much telling roughly half of the US population to go fuck itself when trying to sell any of its games.

I was one of the suckers who bought the originally version of "Battlecruiser 3K" back in the 90's. Needless to say, I was... disappointed.

How's "Universal Combat"?

I wish I could get a job where I could knock out one thing and then collect a paycheck for the rest of my life without any additional effort.

6. Terra Nova Dec 2, 2008, 17:05 Xoxotl

Okay, glad to see I wasn't the only one who clicked on the link thinking "Cool! They're remaking one of my favorite games of all time, Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri!"

Instead, it's some rambling essay about the creation of MMO's. Feh.

Great, another thing for my insufferable iPhone-owning friends to crow about.

Of course, I could always point out that they're tied to AT&T's crappy service (at least up here, anyway).

I second that motion on Terra Nova. That was an awesome game.

Ahhh, I have such fond memories of playing Carrier Command for hours on my old Atari ST.

News Comments > BlizzCon 2008 Tickets Update
1. Sold Out? Aug 12, 2008, 19:04 Xoxotl

The Blizzcon store is showing tickets as "SOLD OUT". There is some confusion as to whether it really is sold out or they're just releasing them in batches to ease server load.

I finally got to the credit card processing page... and just as I hit "PROCESS", they yank the site down for "maintenance".

Amazing.

News Comments > BlizzCon 2008 Ticket Sales Fixed
2. Lies! Lies and slander! Aug 11, 2008, 18:57 Xoxotl

The site is NOT fixed. As the person before me said, it was up for one or two minutes at most, and then crashed hard as everybody realized it was back up.

Apparently some tickets were sold before the server melted again.

If you go to the Blizzard shop page, you'll get the "Site is down for Maintenance" page (it's been down for almost an hour now).

News Comments > BlizzCon 2008 Tickets on Sale
5. Re: Crash & Burn Aug 11, 2008, 14:02 Xoxotl

Blizzard just confirmed NO tickets have been sold.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=8765782561&sid=1&pageNo=68

I imagine right about now the Blizzard Store server is a bubbling puddle of melted plastic, metal, and silicon.

1. Crash & Burn Aug 11, 2008, 12:49 Xoxotl

Blizzard insisted on selling the tickets through the Blizzard Store site, which is slow and unstable on a normal day.

It's no surprise that the server died in a fire. As far as I can tell, NOBODY has actually managed to snag tickets due to site and XML errors.

Let's see how long the Blizzard servers last under the onslaught of people trying to buy tickets at 12:01am 8/11.

Already people are talking about buying multiple tickets strictly for the loot bag. Hope Blizz limits ticket purchases...
