All of which require Internet authentication - once highly reviled the world over. Impulse is a digital distribution services. So, you sort of have to have an internet connection to begin with to get the games.
The problem people have, is with boxed games requiring constant online authentication, when some folks might not have an internet connection (as crazy as that sounds), or you know, your ISP/router/network card malfunctions, and renders your game unplayable.

Instead of getting rid of guns, or violent video games, lets get rid of idiots. Ship em all out to some third world country, starting with Whacko Jacko here. 1. You fail to realize, the world is comprised of 85% idiots. 2. What does Micheal Jackson have to do with this? |

It kills me when agenda is introduced into these types of interviews.
"Strategy Informer: Piracy. This is a pretty big problem for the PC at the moment. What is Blizzard's take on this?"
What is funny is how Mr. Browder basically brushes this aside. I mean, this is Blizzard we are talking about. In a recent article I read, Activision/Blizzard posted financials detailing 0% debt, and nearly $3 billion in cash on hand. Doesn't seem that piracy is a real big problem there.
Of course, I don't expect much from online "journalism". |

100% agree. Mouse weights just seem like another gimmick. I think that I move my mouse around in probably a 1 square inch area most of the time. I don't see how adding weight could possibly affect my "performance" in that small of an area.
However, maybe there are folks that mouse in huge, sweeping motions, and weights might make a difference there. Who knows... |

At least 1 person has a clue (Littleme).
You can probably count on one hand the number of violent incidents that had high profile media coverage and some mention of video games.
But what people dont seem to ever count, is the number of violent incidents that happen that don't mention video games.
This is the kind of "logic" that dictates public opinion. Ignore the last ten thousand years of voilent human behavior that claimed untold millions of lives and caused untold amounts of suffering through unimaginal acts of cruelty, and focus on the 3 or 4 that mention video games.
And right now, with families being put out on the street because of the housing crisis, this just doesn't seem to be a good use of our goverments time. I mean, its not like those millions of people foreclosing on their homes are really interested in buying GTA4 at the moment. |

Back when I first tried Gamefly (cant recall how many years ago), it was a decent service. They had something called "Fast Turnaround", where they sent your next game as soon as they recieved notification from the post office that your game was in the mailing system. Games that were labeled "Available Now" were actually available. I got just about every game at the top of my queue.
I ended up cancelling the service when I had played all the games I wanted at the time.
When I next started up the service, I was really apalled at how the service had degraded. I didnt get the top games in my queue, and there was about a 2 week turnaround between games. I cancelled quickly. The service is nearly a scam these days, if you ask me.
You would be better off buying and then selling your game on ebay when you are done, or just renting from your local video store.

After a mere 10 minutes of research, its fairly apparent this is yet another haven for sociopaths. The forums are alive with griefer vs carebear flame fests. Write it down next to AC Darktide, Eve, etc. Gameplay will center around getting ganked, getting pissed, getting buddies, getting revenge, ad infinium.
Pass. |

I've been playing VG for about 3 months now, and it's honestly a very decent game. I'm sure anyone who has followed the game knows what a disaster the game was at launch, but it is well worth another shot at this point. Just keep in mind, it is primarily a PvE game.
I normally get around 60 fps on my 9600GT/2GB RAM/E2160 OC'd at 3.6GHz. There is still a bit of hitching, and load times when you cross "chunk" lines, but overall the performance is quite acceptable.
There are still quests that are bugged, that you will need to petition a GM to fix, but GM's are really on top of things in this game. In fact, its about the best GM staff I have ever dealt with in an MMO.
There are still a some annoyances with the game world, mobs stuck in rocks, some places where you can clip through the environment, and some spots that seem to dismount you for no reason.
And a few other quibbles here and there but nothing game breaking that I have seen. They even have a rudimentary UI modding community with a few decent mods to download.
VG is a really decent game. The classes/races are diverse and interesting. The dungeons are top notch. There are more quests than you will know what to do with. Plenty of different starting areas so re-rolling is always a new experience. I see no reason to hold on to any old impressions that one may have of the game, as they are now moot.
If you are looking for a good PvE focused MMO, you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you don't give VG a shot.
P.S. No, I don't work for SOE or anything like that. This is my honest opinion.

The US game industry somehow thinks that it is completely separate from the rest of the US economy. Poor sales must equate to "piracy" or some other nonsense. Couldn't have anything to do with a recession, or gas being $4 a gallon, or food being nearly 2x as much at the grocery store, or houses costing nearly half a million, or that $35000 in credit card debt, or that huge student loan that got you a job managing mcdonalds...
No, its obvious that American gamers just have billions in disposable cash, just itching to throw it at any half baked piece of garbag... er I mean software that comes their way.

If I owned any stock in EA, I'd be selling it right about now.
If anyone out there is watching, I want to say something very important:
I have money. I would like to spend it on video games. Good video games. Games that don't have DRM. Games that don't require me to log on to some online service to play. Games that aren't just Generic Sports Game #9. Please, would someone make a good game like this so that I can willingly and cheerfully give you my money in exchange for it? I certainly won't give my money to companies like EA, so don't be like that ok? I'm not a criminal, I'm your customer. Hello? Is this thing on??

I for one will not buy this game, no matter how good it is.
WHY???, I will not reward this kind of total incompetence from the PC gaming industry. 3drealms has shown WHY a developer should have a publisher looking over their shoulder, 10+ years and nothing to show for it YET. Remember this is a teaser , remember a trailer in 2001, and nothing since. Sorry 3d realms you won't be getting my money That is complete ignorance. Why should the length of development have any sway in your decision to purchase the game (if/when it ever comes out)?? You aren't paying them any money right now. They didn't take any pre-orders AFAIK. They are in no way obligated to keep to your, or anyone else's schedule. They have done no wrong in my book.
Now, if they release the game, and its a complete buggy mess with 2 hours of gameplay and horrific controls, then you can call them incompetent. As long as someone is paying their salary, things are going according to someone's plans.
In other words, get the fuck over yourself. If/when the game is released, I'll judge it on its own merits.

I would expect to see comments such as found in this thread on MMORPG.com...which has turned into a complete sophomoric flame site. What is so great about a game company failing? Look how many in this thread act so euphoric about a company that contributes to our hobby going down the tubes. Critisizm of their action is warranted, but to gloat over this news? That is more pathetic than Flagship's failure. Also something that is becoming more prevalent on Blue's News...the newest generation of gamers seem to be spoiled, crass and shallow. Hi, Flagship's cock is that way, feel free to suck it. Self righteous banter such as yours makes me want to fucking vomit.
The critical flaw in your argument is that you think companies such as Flagship "contribute" to our hobby. That is not the case. They are bloodsucking assholes looking to completely rape our fellow gamers out of their hard earned dollars.
So, yes, I'm going to gloat. I'm going to laugh my fucking ass off that these slimeballs got what they fucking deserved.
Spoiled, crass, and shallow... I guess that's boot licking toady, sychophant speak for actually expecting a game to deliver on its promise, in exchange for the money we worked hard to earn.
Seriously, get the fuck outta here with that stoolboy attitude.
