Does anyone else think this downloader SUCKS? I'm trying to download the client, and getting around 10 KB/s... my upload is much better than that, of course. What gives?

I downloaded this demo, hoping I would love it as I did T1. And the fact is.. I don't. It has been really dumbed down. The graphics aren't that great, look VERY cartoonish (whereas the graphics in UT04 look great, I don't understand the difference as they're the same engine). The jet pack trails look HORRIBLE. The maps are very small, and not the vast expanses like we saw in the first two games. *sigh* I'm still gonna get it though, hopefully 2845 will rock...

Remember how great the map system worked with the original Tribes? Unless the mapper edited the terrain (he could add all the buildings/weapons/etc he wanted), the user didn't have to download a thing. It made playing custom maps great, and I wish more games would have taken advantage of it...

It's not for all services. It's simply for the Marines. As he said it.. Once a Marine, ALWAYS a Marine. Therefore, you can never BE an ex-Marine, unless in the case that you get dishonorably discharged. The rest of the services don't have near the sense of pride that the Marines have (although the Army really tries, poor guys), and none of them have the same "Once a soldier/sailor/airman/guardsman, always a soldier/sailor/airman/guardsman" mentality.

Was I the only one to wish that they allowed more exploration of the facility's normal day-to-day operation before the "accident" occurred in the first HL? I thought it was great how they had you going to work, checking in, etc. I also felt that way about the beginning of Doom 3 as well...

I was looking forward to the game, until I heard they took out the plasma rifle.

They did WHAT?!?!?! I felt that was as much of a staple of the Tribes universe as the spinfusor was. I loved that thing... was great for infiltrating bases.

I have to agree, the trailer was kinda crappy. It sounded like the guy wanted to sound like the guy that does all the movie trailers.. and he didn't. I hope it'll be great, though!

I wish they would list the system requirements. My computer SUCKS... but I managed to get FarCry to run (and not too badly), so maybe I can force Doom3 to run...

I want Bros. W commentary for all three movies!

I actually know a friend of a friend of a dog of a cat's dentist's friend who got me a sneak peak of what the commentary by the Wachowski Siblings (since one is a girl now) is going to be for Reloaded and Revolutions:

"We're sorry. We're reeeeally sorry. No, seriously guys, please, believe us that we're sorry. We're sorry.. hey, don't leave, we're sorry!!!"

If you look at the plot of the agents in the first Matrix and compare it to the overall Matrix plot, the fact that the agents are trying to get the codes for Zion in the first movie makes NO sense. Why would they need them?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it never said that there was only *one* person who first woke up from the Matrix. It could have been that there as a glitch in the system and maybe hundreds of people were suddenly "woken up" - which would have allowed them to build things...

I hate scenes where the screen flickers and changes every 0.2 seconds.

My sentiments exactly! That's another reason I loved the first Matrix. The dojo fight scene was amazing, mainly because there were very few cuts. It was beautifully choreographed. I was hoping it would set the standard for action movies to come, but it's not.. as shown in CoR, when you're wondering... what the hell is going on?

...99% of those are unrealistic arcade garbage.

Yeah, cuz we know that the Star Wars universe is sooo damn realistic!

As someone mentioned earlier, what can GB say to make him look good in the eyes of the public again? Nothing. This game is a joke and he knows it. No amount of talking will disprove that to the public. All they'd have to say is "Where are the latest screenshots? Where are the latest videos? Where is the demo after seven years?" and GB would have NOTHING. The only thing that can prove it to the gamers is a breathtaking demo followed by a great release. Everything else is just fluff that adds to the DNF mythology...

This is ridiculous. When DNF was first announced, I was starting high school. Next year, I'm about to graduate from college. The delays are inexcusable, especially when they hyped it up so much in the beginning. Don't hype stuff unless you're SURE it's gonna get done. Now they go around bitching that everyone's making fun of them and complaining. Well, you know what? They asked for it! Max Payne 2 took us all by storm, and was a great game. I remember there were posts saying "Where the hell did THIS come from?" when it was announced that it went gold. I think GB is finally realizing that this is a joke to the whole gaming community. Even if GB releases the game, and it's semi-decent, no one will ever take him seriously again.

Speaking of over-hyped crappy games... about a year ago I saw a good article on the whole Daikatana fiasco.. why it got pushed back, the story behind it, and everything. However, I lost it and never got around to finishing it. Does anyone have a link to it? I think it was on Gamespy...

Haha, sounds like Freelancer. *shudder*
