Is the purported level to 20 in SP then join the masses mechanic still being used? Or should we expect a deluge of boat wrecks and scantily clad disproportionate women hitting the beaches launch day?

Report appears false, the beta is not yet available to pre-order customers.
There is some closed BvB testing going on, but the larger beta appears very imminent.

Witness the screen flicker and what *looked* like a crash (flashing DOS cursor) but it was restored shortly after with no ill affects.
...Weren't these WHQL certified? Seeing Vista drivers out of beta was what prompted me to spring for them in the first place.

I'm sorry, SoF2's Multiplayer was off the hook. Fast, nasty gunfights, big maps (meh to the randomly generated ones). Had a kickass time with CTF. And grenade physics that made sense (looking at you, CS).
yay!

In the thread regarding this article on the Savage2 forums, an S2 employee (of which i believe there are 6) claims it has not come from them.
Interesting.

Take a hockey game for example.
How many people can sit and watch the game (lets not bring affection for the sport into it) and pay absolutely no attention to the ads peppering the boards? Does anyone walk out of a movie and really have a begging thirst to go buy Mountain Dew because pop-icon xxx was sippin on one?
This vocal minority is also the exact type of person that is not going to be swayed by advertising when it comes to big purchases - ok, even the little ones. I drink Coke because it tastes better, no matter how many damn Pepsi commericials i see. Tech products i purchase because i KNOW they are highly rated, and i have a need for them, regardless of the competitor x's shitty product's endless marketing campaign.
I see ads all the time, i just don't see them

I retract my previous post. You guys are all right on the money, because if there's a chance that im wrong, that EA and the government and the NSA and al qaeda all give a shit about my advertisement watching habits - your argument must therefore be bulletproof.
I concede, you will find me in my basement with an aluminum hat muttering incessantly about Y2EA.

Naa you don't. You're full of more than just hot air, junior.
Run along you little poser, you're not impressing anyone here. Posts like that, with no supporting reasons whatsoever, make me want to slit my wrists and scream till i bleed out.
People here seem to be climbing on the bandwagon as fast as they can find it. You can bitch and moan all you want but people are still going to buy the game. So, why is it that people who arent going to touch it with a ten foot pole remain the most vocal about hating?
The "spyware" is only logging what ads are viewed and for how long, in addition to your ip address... which companies already have anytime you log onto a master server. This coming from, what i gather, accurate posts from a DICE employee. Quite frankly, I'd take his word on it because should it act otherwise, teh internets will probably collectively shit itself as the Hate EA bandwagon reaches terminal mass.
Given the state of the advertising industry and its LACK of experience in presenting in-game advertising, i think this serves as a logical, albeit intrusive, tool for establishing baselines on advertisement cost. "We have this advert space, seen by x # of people for x # of minutes a day, you can put your ad here for X $'s" While i don't necessarily approve of its subversive insertion to the game, i don't really mind be a guinea pig for testing, because i plan on ignoring every ad to the best of my abilities.
Spectacular show here people, keep it up.

This, done properly, could potentially be a great game.
I have little faith however, and just hope it doesn't tarnish the beloved series too badly.

That Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water map in HL2 was really cool. Wish I could download it. Seconded, simply fantastic.

Seriously, if we know they take their time with releases, and they know, then stop fucking cockteasing us with shit like "Holiday 2006" and just say "When its done". I've got no problem waiting, you knew you werent gonna make it ya little bastards.. Ep2, TF2, and Portal (not the same devs but still), you're better off keepin it tight lipped.

So i hadn't decided one way or the other on this title (although i am really pulling for ET:QW) but i figured what the hell is the harm in reserving a unique name anyway.
Har Har, jokes on me. I spent 15 minutes trying to remember the username/pass for me EA account which is different from the username/login for my BF2 account, only the find that the soldier name i have isnt valid thanks to a period in the name (which was used for a clan tag). Reserving a name with all valid characters results in a "This soldier name is already in use" Which i find hard to believe on account of this fucking news just breaking.
So i'm forced to assume its fubar'd. Already. ...Shit.
