The PS4 interface they showed at the reveal looked a lot like the current store you see on the PS3, which sort of reminds me of the ad-covered TV screens they had in Idiocracy.

I definitely would not want it for the console's UI itself (I much prefer the relatively simple PS3 one to something like the 360), but the new PSN store is about a million times better than the old store.

US-American, here, and none of the local ISPs have data caps.

In the original Deus Ex stealth was tricker. Even the prod had to be used on the lower spine otherwise it required two charges. Knocking out with a baton required melee upgrades and a hit to the head. Miss for whatever reason and follow through too slowly and you risk a lot of heat on you.

Stealth in DX:HR, in my opinion, was easier and more rewarding.

I think the lower spine thing was only a necessity on the MJ12 troopers? I usually stun prodded to the head until then, I think.

The derivatives market that tanked the economy was barely legal. Teens would be well served to learn from these mistakes, so that we can avoid it happening again in forty years.

Also just finished a playthrough recently. Very fun game.

Regarding Stealth-
I've seen this complaint before, that a game that gave you "real choice" would not reward stealth like DR does with XP and easiness. That argument fails to take into account the whole picture. Sure its easier to survive a stealthier entry if you do it correctly, since you pretty much just have to hit q, but you pay in time and patience.

I sort of did a hybrid approach (knowing that I probably wouldn't get to a second playthrough for awhile) where I would sneak around til someone found me and then blast the survivors. Well when the guns came out, I dropped everyone on the level in a matter of minutes. They all run to where you are, there is no respawning enemies, and if you're armed for it the cover system makes you very strong. Too many? Grenades. Hell if you walk away for 30 seconds they forget where you are and you can start over with headshots. You definitely have to be more careful with the shooting but it drastically cuts down on the time you spend in a level.

Regarding Missing Link-
It was weird that it didn't integrate. I think its pretty obvious it was an after thought, as there's 0 callback to it in the game proper.

That being said they did a great job with it. Interesting setting, touches on the best parts of DX with the prisoner exploitation, ties into the main game lore wise very well, and it was super cool to see the "components" in the final boss of the main game.

Edit-
Oh yeah and the Ending-
Well we all know the ending is Deus Ex 1, so they sort of are painted into a corner here. That being said, the approach they took was kind of lazy. If you haven't beaten it yet, time to tamper those expectations down. However everything up to that last second button press is excellent.

Ha. I did a stealth playthrough with the cover and press-this-to-do-cool-stuff buttons disabled. It was kinda tough at times.

A) My ISP doesn't even bother joining in with it.
B) Even if they did, the proposed "throttled" speed would still be faster than my maximum speed anyway, so I still wouldn't notice anything.

Not that I download illegal stuff on my connection, because it just takes way too damn long.

Also, that Game of Thrones title is wrong. It really should be "Game of Thrones director realizes that illegal downloads don't matter."
It's not a claim, it's a simple fact.

I pirated GoT seasons 1 and 2 because it would cost me $100 to get HBO for a month. Pre-ordered both sets on Blu-Ray to atone for my sins, though. Quite well done.

I've speculated on pricing here a ton, and I'm 100% certain the publishers are investigating it.

But not just high. Don't get me wrong, Call of Duty will always come in high. $59.99? Sure. $69.99? Why not.

Other games, though? They know damn well they can't sustain that. And they know damn well that there's a sweet spot. There are some issues:
1) Games will always sell a ton their first week, even if the price is high. It's hard to walk away from that
2) Games will always sell a ton when prices drop. Does a game on Steam sell better when it's released at $4.99 or when it's released at $9.99 then cut to $4.99 for two weeks every two months?

I'm guessing that last part is the big problem. Games hit at $59.99. They then go on sale from time to time. They then get price drops. They go on sale a few more times. Then prices drop again.

If the massive failure of JC Penny proves anything, it's that most people are motivated not by everyday low prices but by getting a bargain, especially a time-sensitive bargain that's act-now or lose.

Steam probably generates 30% of its annual revenue during the Christmas sale. Maybe more. Starting with a lower priced product instead of a higher one you regularly and quickly reduce probably wouldn't work as well.

I have to say 49.99 is the sweet spot. I will admit, even though it's only a 10 dollar difference, if a game I want comes out at 50 bucks instead of 60, I won't even bat an eye when it comes to purchasing it.

I used to buy far more games during the Xbox/PS2 generation because they were 50 dollars.

correct me if I'm wrong but I remember genesis games and TurboDuo games being $60

http://www.1up.com/news/90s-game-price-comparison-charticle

Carts were expensive. N64 games went up to around $70. I think SNES games went up to $60ish, too. PC games always seemed a ton cheaper than the console games. Then it was cheap to press a CD, so PS1 games were cheaper, and prices stayed down through the PS2/xbox gen.

New NES games were like $100 in today's money.

Is GoPro anything more than a camera? Google Glass is a lot more; directions, local information and augmented reality stuff - much of what a smartphone does.

I'm not saying it's worth $1500, or whatever the consumer price will be as I'm sure it will be horribly expensive, but I think it's a very cool project. Not cool in the traditional sense of course as wearing this will make you look very odd, particularly at first. I don't see why having this is a sign that you're a pathetic douche bag, why do you say that Cutter?

It's sort of like how wearing a Bluetooth headset looked odd, although I don't really understand the whole Blue-tool objection some people have. Wearing a Bluetooth headset makes you look like a taxi driver - there's nothing wrong with that, but there's nothing particularly great about it either.

I wonder what the Google Glass's battery life is like. Streaming video to and from the glasses, with GPS and the display on, all while being small and light enough to wear as glasses ... about 3 minutes?

killer_roach, I'd guess you could get prescription lenses for it. They probably wouldn't be cheap, but Google would be crazy not to offer this in some way.

I'm sure it can do... something else, but 95% of what they've shown of Glass has been, "Glass, take a picture of my food and paste it on Twitter," and "Glass, I'm in public, take a video of all of these guys and put it online!" and "Glass, I'm an x-gamer and doing something radical! Slap that shit on youtube!"

I would like to suggest that not only can Chris Avellone (and his worthy band) decide what can be labeled as a sequel to Planescape: Torment but that the unique and all-encompassing, established setting of D&D's Planescape is the only setting for a sequel.

"Torment" is the theme in "Planescape". A sequel would correctly be called "Planescape: Something After Torment" set in that D&D milieu, not new IP and certainly not in something other than D&D.

Why is this critical? One of Ps:T's most successful elements was that walking the planes was a well understood, eagerly anticipated, primary goal of many pen and pencil D&D players. It's where the gods and goddesses and their agents and subjects live, removed from mortal and mundane life.

Ps:T the game acted as an inspired AI Dungeon Master for a complex Planescape campaign envisioned as the ceremonial end of an epic-level PC D&D 'career'. Does this new title presume to offer that same sweeping scope in that same setting? If not, why name it PS:Ts sequel?

p.s. I do have a copy of Monte Cook's Planewalker's Handbook, this is not directed at Mr. Cook's authority or vast experience.

Nowhere is it called a sequel. It's a 'thematic successor.' It has Chris Avellone's blessing as that. D&D licenses are impossible to get, and tie your hands with what you can do, and Planescape is a dead setting in new-D&D.

I loved B5, but the "special effects" would look even worse on Blu-ray.

They had filmed it in widescreen and... on film, in anticipation of a widescreen HD release. And then I think some boneheaded thing or other destroyed the sources for the special effects, so now they can't be redone easily.

So I guess PS4 news is drowning out nvidia Titan news.

Apparently, it sucks.

GeForce GTX Titan in most scenarios will be a slower than the GTX 690, roughly 15% to 20%. Realistically again I should be comparing towards GTX 680. However I really can't as the GTX 690 and Titan will be priced roughly the same. Now though the price might be fair, it will definitely be too much to swallow for most of you. On average you'll see 20% less performance then a GTX 690 versus the very same pricetag.

Great job, nvidia! All for only $1000?

Wow. So it is a PR and marketing scam? They are making it sound like the best thing ever....

My impression was that this was largely for computing purposes.

So, even tough LoG was just released, and some of you haven't even tried it yet--well, we don't care, and we're going to--regardless--shove another game down your throats this early in time, because it's all about us and staying in business even though that negatively affects you by the fact that we'd be shoving another game down your throats already."

"Creating a DLC would not have felt right." You mean, not have felt right to your business in the form of profits? Ahh, yes, that's what I thought you meant. Okay.

I'm confused by your post. You obviously have a different perspective on the game and/or the developer, but the game was released nearly a year ago for $14.99, and even less during a promotional launch. LoG II probably won't be release until the end of this year, or first part of next, so how is it they shoved either one down our throats?

I'm just curious, as maybe I'm missing something. HAH, wouldn't be the first time.

How is it you feel that the lifetime of a game should be only 2 years? Why should someone move onto LoG 2 just because your business needs to survive constantly? Not our problem the business needs to keep 10 people employed with salaries or whatever.

If LoG is so great, then it's the kind of game that goes for 10 years or more. ESPECIALLY SINCE A LEVEL EDITOR WAS RELEASED.

I MEAN, C'MON.

fucktards.

10/10. Awesome impression.

8 cores, high-end GPU, cutting edge graphics....sounds like they're just describing what we already have on the PC.

Sounds like dev and porting should be a breeze. What needs to happen is all three platforms come up with a standardized OS for all. The PC would then be the console w k/m and user controlled upgrade path. The rumors look to be true, stating high-end GPU would be pushing it, it was very mediocre from what I recall.

Yeah, not a high end GPU at all. It's capable of ~1.8 TFLOPS. Which in NVIDIA land would be a 660. The 680 pushes 3TFLOPS, which IS high end. Too bad they didn't put a 680 in there. :/ So this means, yet AGAIN, it's already outdated to my PC long before it comes out.

But, at least we'll be getting PC games with graphics that actually use the current GPUs well...for a little while. Of course, this will once again change shortly as PC GPUs advance so fast.

Come on. Did you really expect them to stick a $500 video card in a $400 console?
