Here's one more observation. Many of us either subscribe to a magazine, IGN (which is now a pay site for the good stuff - or Gamespit if you will), or something of the like. We view screenshots, movies, and form a generalized opinion of the title.
Why is it that some people blast Del for doing the same when it comes to his opinions of the game? Is he not doing what we as gamers do more often than not? Forming an opinion about cintent and gameplay from screenshots and movies? Seems a bit hypocritical to me. While I don't agree that HM2 is racist, he is forming his opinions on the game from the same means many gamers do.
Lets put it this way. Why so many acerbic comments towards Del (it seems he only attacks the individuals who flame him)? Just express why you feel the game is not racist, and leave the lambastic commentary out. Simple, sucinct, and easy to follow.

Yes and no. Mongoloid a term many think of in conjunction with people who exhibit Downs Syndrome, is also a term relating to Asians, Eskimoes (Inuit), and North American Indians. So some of the terminology is overlapping as Caucasian also refers to Asiatic races, as well as Latinos, Hispanics, Whites, and those who dwell in certain regions like N. Africa or the Caucases. I am simply ststing that the gentleman who said Caucasian refers to whits is not incorrect, nor is your usage incorrect. There are simply more ways to determine based upon context. In the U.S. the term is most commonly applied to whites - simply look at any U.S. census documentation.
It's all based upon the context. I believe the PC revolution (Political Correctness) has much to do with the confusion. Caucasian is commonly known to refer to white's (by todays typical definition - not scientific but political). If a description is given out on a police bulletin you would hear the term, caucasian male, so many feet, weighing so much, with blank hair color. You would never hear caucasian Latino male (although technically that would be correct). Many ambiguous terms have been given strict adhereance now days to race, rather than structure or location.
BTW just because a term changes in meaning over time does not make it incorrect. If a term, word, is used in certain context widely enough. The term becomes acceptible (Just look at the tragedy that is ebonics). Prime example - Gay. Throughout the '20s and 50's the term simply applied to happiness and feelings related to elation. The general context today refers to a homosexual lifestyle. Yet, the word can still be used in it's original context, thus having dual meaning depending upon the context of the statement. As for amateur, yes it stems from the latin amator or love and the French use a variation amore. However it has several definitions which once again vary depending upon context. Amateur can mean devotion or love, as well as someone who takes part in science, sports, or any hobby without doing so professionally, as well as the common defacto of inexperienced or newcommer. It's dependant upon the author and reader to make the correct judgement based upon the context of the statement - something that can be confusing for individuals residing in different gepgraphical regions (especially since U.S. English has so many meaning for the same term - some often contadictory).

Actually he was correct. Caucasian does refer to the white races. While anthropological studies are a broader interpretation and study of human beings in relation to distribution, origin, classification, and relationship of races, physical character, environmental and social relations, and culture. The terminology caucasian is typically acssociated with the white race, as negroid (or negro) refers to people within the black race, and asian refers to people of asian descent.
By definition.
Main Entry: Cau·ca·sian Pronunciation: ko-'kA-zh&n, kä- also -'ka-zh&n Function: adjective Date: 1807 1 : of or relating to the Caucasus or its inhabitants 2 a : of or relating to the white race of humankind as classified according to physical features b : of or relating to the white race as defined by law specifically as composed of persons of European, No. African, or southwest Asian ancestry - Caucasian noun - Cau·ca·soid /'ko-k&-"soid/ adjective or noun

No arguments from me sir. As I've said all along, this is a very early Alpha (Namely version 0.02). Compairing this to any finished piece of work is akin to comparing Michangelos (Really fucked up Sp?) David to a half squeezed out shit from a poodle in a park. The two just done equate, and trying to link the two together is not feesable, it simply just does not work.
Just allow the Alpha to be what it is. A graphics demno, that is unoptimised, and that will eventually play perfectly on most systems. To think that Id would put out a game that only plays on 2% of gamers systems is ludicrous. This title has almost a year of developement left, so give it the time it deserves. Play the alpha and enjoy the eye candy. Just remember how early and pre=mature the release is however.

Gotta agree with that synopsis. Serious Samn was a damn enjoyable piece of new nostalgia. Much like Doom's original hordes, SS delivers the goods at an unstoppable rate, with high quality true 3D graphics.
To answer the questions above - Carmack ststed that DoomIII is not about stopping hordes of enemies. Rather it's more about atmosphere and tough enemies. DoomIII while sharing gameplay elements of previous incarnation of the Doom legacy, is about fear. This title is all about dark shadows and things that go bump in the night. So please, don't go in expecting thousands of Cacao Deamons. Rather go in expecting an interactive horror mnovie in the B grade range.

Are you suddenly loosing objectivity and defaming the alpha version of a very old game demo at E3. Oh that's right - you're Troll number 1. Damn almost forgot what an idiot you are.
This game is so early it hurts. Franky I should not call it a game as it was merely an E3 demonstration. The game is not due out till mid to late 2003 and by then should be fully optimised for the hardware Cramck intends. Namely GeForce3 level vid cards like the Radeon 8500 and GeForce 3 TI cards.
Please don't judge the leak as if it were an official demo. This is merely a leak, and was never meant for public release. Idiots like Dr. Del only confirm this.

Lots of people seem to have a sound issue with this title. One of the reasons I'm glad I bought the Xbox version.
Realizing how many people are having problems. I'm assuming the game was rushed to ship with it's console counterparts. Sad really.

"The developers are focusing on the single-player experience over multiplayer chaos, distancing themselves from the Doom-style "killing, killing and killing" gameplay." taken from the linked article
"Unreal 2: The Awakening UGO.com's Unreal 2: The Awakening Preview gives a good rundown on what to expect from the upcoming Unreal sequel in the works at Legend Entertainment. The hands-off preview discusses the story, weapons, [[[[[the emphasis on single-player play]]]]], sounds, and more." Taken from the text at the top of the screen.
Where on earth did you get the idea that Unreal 2 was MP?

Anyone who want's to play their games with a bigger screen and better graphics. Also many of the popular titles on the Gameboy Advance are first party Nintendo games. These are games that no other handhels will ever be privy to.

Like I said - never did get that one. Frankly entering the maps level by level is simple enough for me.
One thing I've noticed is a discrepency in people regarding the machine gun model. Some have stated it looks like the model for the plasma gun in quake. Yet the model for the machine gun looks to me, very similar to the pulse rifles in Aliens. Theres a digital counter on top with total shells, and a counter with shells remaining.

How 'bout no one posts after this message. The thread dies and drifts into obscurity. Dr. Del is left posting replies to himself. Therefore you are all rid of dealing with Dr. Del and can resume normal posting without his insedious bombardment of implied racism where none exists.
Would that not be the simple route?

Here's one better to make the SP option on the menu work do this
* To Make The Single Player Menu Work Do This Steps: 1.) Make doom3.exe Read-only off 2.) Open doom3.exe with hex editor 4.) Change: 6A6F686E632F746573745F626967626F78000000737461727447616D to: 65332F65335F3100000000000000000000000000737461727447616D 5.) Save the file and play!
Have a day!
I have not been able to find that line in the Hex editor I use - but if you all find it in another hex editor and it works - let me know.
PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU TRY THIS!!!!
Edit - This is taken from sharereactor.com 's Speedup Doom III file - if you need it just use overnet and goto sharereactor.com - lookup DoomIII which is on the top of PC Game D/L's (But pleae remember to buy this when it comes out - I test all of my games before I buy - however I still buy those I enjoy!!!) and D/L via Edonkey or Overnet the Doom 3 speedup file - it's only 300KB and includes the fix for the bathroom sceene with the new pinky (Evil demon dog in DoomIII) eating the fat zombie as seen in the demo from the leaked E3 Vid but in real time.

Well your asshole must be pretty wide as you pulled all of your stats out of it!!!
The last election had the highest voter turn out of any election to date!!! While I live in FL I won't debate the voter issue since I too think it was rigged. However to estimate 20 - 25% is pure bullshit - and your a piece of shit for soing so!!!
More than 75% (per CNN reports) of registered voters came out for this election, and stated their minds.
The real problem is with the electoral college. In the early days when the population was nearly nill we needed the electoral college. However now - we need it abolished. It does more to disenfranchise young voters than anything. People feel like they have no say, since the EC can vote for anyone they wish - regardless of popular opinion and vote!
Hence Tallahasse's steadfast opinion that they would elect Bush regardless of the populations votes (Talk about nepotism!!!)!

I reciprocate everyone else' sentiments about this title. The performance is odd given the level or lack of graphical detail and geometry. The gameplay is just horrible. 10 shots to the head before they drop, that's guessing that the rounds are even hitting their mark. Shoot a guy next to another enemy, and no one notices. Umm this might have been acceptible in 1993 for Doom, but after the huge list of stellar FPS titles between 2000 and now - no way jose.
I'm guessing I never got above 30 FPS at most, and there were times I thought I was watching a slideshow. If I had a 3 year old PC I would accept it and chalk it up to old hardware, however that's not the case. XP2100, GeForce4 TI4400, 640MB DDR 333MHz RAM, SB Audigy Platinum EX ='s WTF is up here. UT2003 zooms along at 70FPS+ with all options maxed at 1024*768 32bit and 2xFSAA, but Bond runs like a pregnant yak with a yeast infection.
Do yourself a favor and put this on your do not buy under any circumstances list. I never though it possible for any game to be worse than Firefighter or Panty Raider - color me wrong!

As I recall the Soviets did not fare too well in Afghanistan either - got your tails whooped by the Northern Alliance. Gettin beat down pretty bad by Chechen rebels as well. As for WWII - the Soviets were engaged long before America was foolishly brought into the skirmish by the Japanese. Also the fact that America itself (The continent) was never directly attacked, so therefore only our military suffered casualties.
As for peace keeping issues, it's because we are not there to kill everything in sight. We have to wait for someone to shoot at us, then get permission to attack (which we don't always get). It's called policing and peace keeping for a reason, not genocidal assault. When was the last time the former Soviet Union helped out with their armed services? Typically that role falls upon America and Britan with some UN allied nations making brief but non comittal appearences.
As the saying goes - open mouth insert foot.

Re: Ban the Military |

My god, when I first read the header, "Ban the Military". I thought it was going to be some analogy about games. Something to the tune of if you're going to ban games(obviously absurd) then why not ban the military (equaly absurd). However the points made have no basis in reality, and lie deep within the well of absurdity.
As stated above, the US military (Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard) is/has been involved in many humanitarian efforts. The US has done more with it's military than any other country in terms of peace keeping efforts at great cost to American lives and public perception.
We can not abolish the military for many reasons. The most obvious reasons being the state of world affairs, the need for self defense, and preservation of our way of life.
There are many ways one can be trained to shoot accurately other than military training. You can goto any gun club or gun trading circle and learn from those individuals. You could learn from your father or friends as well. Most hunters are very accurate with a rifle, and capable of performing the horible acts carried out by the two "snipers" (media sensationalised term). Yet the media does not seem to be jumping on that bandwagon.
In short, I'll agree with the above. You are decrying the medias sensationalistic attacks on gaming because of absurdity, yet you yourself are guilty of the same thing bringing to mind the word hypocrit.

Why should there be any compassion? Case in point. Recently a group of tourists went on a journey (Vacation) to Australia. Disregarding a series of signs (one of which was written in their native tongue - German) warning about the waters being inhabited by Saltwater Crocodiles. Several campers decided to go for a swim. One girl was dragged under by a Saltwater Croc and killed. Should I feel pity for someone too stupid to see a sign that said - WARNING BIG MEAN FUCKING REPTILES IN WATER - WILL EAT YOU FOR FUN!!! (not literally of course - but who here would willingly jump into water where Saltwater Crocs live?)
This gentleman is no different. To sit at a console playing games for 32 hours straight is simply mind numbingly moronic! I'm stuck behind a monitor for 8 hours a day at work. Occasionally I do some gaming on the weekend, but rather enjoy outdoor activities more. Some football, biking, frivolous play, swimming, etc..
There is no pitty in me for someone who dies because they ignored their bodies basic urges for food, drink, and waste removal - along with a general need to move about.
I must concur - I'm glad he's dead, one less idiot to fowel our already stagnant backwater gene pool!
