After a few days of playing it I really can handle all the changes to Dragon Age 2 except for one.

I have been in the same 3 tilesets OVER and OVER and OVER. I am sick of seeing 1 HUGE cave split up into smaller parts for quests, or some extra walls thrown in trying to make a new map. It's cheap, lazy and unprofessional. I am really surprised Bioware did this.
Do you remember the side quests for Mass Effect 1? They repeated the same textures in different room layouts. No surprise to me. It takes a long time to develop a cRPG. Bioware no longer does. It's a simple economic matter, why develop a cRPG which is so costly when you can develop a loss costly game and it still sells like hotcakes?

Fans of Dragon Age who liked that it was a cRPG will want to think twice before purchasing Dragon Age 2 because it's it not a cRPG in any sense.

P.S. I'm clearly bitter at how Dragon Age 2 is.

Maybe someone should take the time to compare and contrast dragon age 2 with dragon age 1 to list everything that is wrong with dragon age 2.

None of the complexity and gameplay mechanics found in tribes 1 and tribes 2 can possibly be recreated on a console. The controller is the major limitation. The other major limitation is the inevitable console styled first person shooter expectation found in every major console fps: small maps which put people in tight quarters to force the action.

These games had high learning curves which the antithesis of console styled shooter design.

Prove me wrong Hi-Rez.

*Sigh* I played the demo. I'm not a troll. Others have stated far more eloquently why this game is a pale imitation of the original PC designed game. You just haven't been paying attention.

I don't understand how a someone who loved the original PC styled game could like this hollow corpse of a sequel.

One more reason not to buy the game. I have seen some videos on youtube of just outrageous hacks and the general word I seem to be reading that it's all too easy. The game is a console game written for a console environment which make cheating difficult and ported to PC. Do you need more evidence? Look at the demo, everything about it screams half assed console port.

There is no correct answer.
Appealing to dictionaries is an error.
Dictionaries maybe be descriptive but they are not prescriptive nor proscriptive.

I'm using big words which no one will look up in the dictionary.

Maybe there are some casual gamers that don't care about GFWL one way or another. But everyone I know hates it with a passion. It's a console designed thing and even now the xbox 360 one is better than the PC.

Kevin Unangst does not understand our hatred for it.

36. Re: Technology of Dragon Age II Mar 6, 2011, 09:43 Overon

These streamlining changes, which some of us would call dumbing down and the extra download required to get the high resolution textures (consoles don't need the high res textures cause they can't handle them) are all a clear sign of what the intended platform is for this game. The only reason the first game was PC friendly was because it started on PC and took so long to release. If they could they would have gone back and tailored it for consoles in the first one.

Dragon Age II is not a PC game.

Has anyone from Valve addressed the concern that this could be used to tie a game to one computer?

I cant believe that they are charging 60$ for this game. Painfully short single-player, sort-of-fun multiplayer but CO-OP only (does it have deathmatch of any kind at all??) The obvious porting problems, no Jump??? What the hell is this, Mass Effect?????
No it's a $60 console game for juveniles released on PC because it doesn't take much effort to make the unreal tech game work on PC.

It keeps crashing for me during the same cutscene where your mother speaks after fighting the first battle with your brother and sister. 3 times in a row.
