Other than male macho posturing, I never understood why (mostly) men love to eat spicy stuff like this. The spiciness literally overwhelms every other flavor and, if it's spicy enough, even texture. It's like an analgesics that Dentist use, but instead of feeling nothing, you feel nothing else but fire.

I don't even understand why there is this market for trying to one up each other on the spiciness in various products. The basic science behind this is, the more capsaicin it has, the hotter it is. So you it's easy to one up your competition, all the way the point where your sauce is 100% capsaicin and you won, you got the hottest sauce on the planet. Not much of a challenge really. However, I don't think that's legal to sell in a food product because it can hurt people pretty bad.

You can buy bottles of capsaicin pretty easily, though they do all mention that they are a food additive, not a sauce. (ie, you add a few drops to your meal, not a squirt.)

I always get annoyed when the Man vs Food guy takes on a spicy/hot challenge where the chef just uses capsaicin. That's just cheating; it's not using food, it's basically using chemicals. He might as well use battery acid.

Creston
Using chemicals is not not food? Food IS a chemical. Everything physical you see, feel, taste, hear, and smell is made up of chemicals. Life is chemistry and chemistry is all chemicals.

You can't fault Valve for taking advantage of volunteers. However, Valve could buy one less island this year, and instead use the money to pay professionals.

Some people still don't get it. Confronting the people that killed all those employees of Sariff Industries is not the problem (the Boss fight is no the issue). The fact that you have KILL the boss is the problem. You can go throughout the entire game without killing anyone, but you have to KILL the boss. It's a terrible design decision that shows a schziphrenic design which is well explained by the fact that it was designed by another company.

Didn't it occur to anyone that the non lethal option and then only the lethal option for the boss fights, did not go well together? Poor management of the project, the two things don't fit well.

This is a tempest in a teapot. The proof is in the quality of the overall experience, which I'm guessing will be Blizzard-level all the way.

IMHO most of the best and most relevant gaming experiences today are real-time experiences that don't let you get up and take a little vacation at the door, phone, or water closet. Whether RTS, FPS, or MMO you can't just leave in the middle of a battle.

Game developers have a right to DRM, and online play and server-side components are about the only way to achieve it unless you're into dongles. We're all going to have higher quality experiences, SP and MP, when piracy is a thing of the past.
Hahahahah. I don't believe you mean anything you said.

No Blizzard cannot fail, too many rabid fan boys who see Blizzard as not able to do any wrong.

I persistent online connection for a single player game and no checkpoints is ridiculous. I say no. There are too many risks of this bullshit requirement messing up your game.

2K Marin has showed how well they make games. Look at Bioshock 2, especially the PC version. Horrible after purchase support.

Thereis a 20 minute gameplay vdieo he gameplay is so much like Mass Effect, I thought I was seeing double.

I'm tired of the stupid cover shooters. It's so absurd to realize that aliens travel light years, invade earth, and their best weapons are stopped by a wall, box, barricade, crate, that I happen to hide behind. This has always been a terrible gameplay mechanic. The AI in that gameplay video, is like the AI of every other 3rd cover based shooter, as dumb as rocks. If I can hide behind a crate to magically stops aliens weapons, why can't they hide behind a crate that stops my weapons, just as well as I can?

I don't care about this game. It's not being designed with my tastes in mind.

You old fogies with your Kris Kross and your House of Pain.

I don't think jumping was super duper important in tribes 1 and 2 but it did give you a boost, you didn't to just jet from ground up, you wanted to jump and then jet for the extra momentum.

Man, I never liked this Facebook based advertising contest bullshit.

I don't like the odds of winning and therefore it's not even worth the few minutes it would take to do this. I have my pride and self respect and if I jumped through those hoops I would have my pride and self respect lessened.

Your results may vary.

Anyway, T:A looks pretty bad. They're trying to add a bunch of modern elements (health regen, classes, two-weapon limits, hitscan weapons, unlockables) that really are not exactly like previous Tribes game.

Fixed that for you.

No, not really. I don't have a problem with change in and of itself. I do have a problem with change that undermines the things I enjoyed most about the previous Tribes games. So far, every single change in T:A has done this.

If you're arguing that the freeform loadout system isn't an integral part of the Tribes experience, I'm guessing you didn't play much of any Tribes game. The fact that T:A forces you to unlock predefined loadouts individually is problematic for so many reasons. High-level players will have access to more loadouts, giving them the ability to choose the best loadout for any given situation. Conversely, low-level players will have a very limited set of options, forcing them to rely on loadouts that are often not ideal. The other changes in T:A also have a significant impact on the gameplay experience. Health regen will make defense significantly easier, as LD and HoF will never need to leave their posts to get health kits and they'll quickly recover from any attacks. Switching to ammo instead of energy consumption for the sniper rifle will have the same effect, as snipers will have a much faster rate of fire and be able to snipe without sacrificing mobility. In essence, the sniper rifle will be turned into a railgun. The addition of pistols, SMGs, assault rifles and shotguns will have a significant impact on the combat experience as well. Hitscan weapons are best suited to cover-based combat. They are not well-suited to combat in open areas where players move with relatively predictable trajectories and there's little to no cover. Because the hitscan projectiles are basically instantaneous, you cannot dodge them and hitscan weapons will quickly become the most effective weapons in most fights. Many people already feel that the chaingun was overpowered in the previous Tribes games and the hitscan weapons in T:A look to be even more unbalanced.

The only logical reason why HiRez would make such significant changes is that they want to appeal to the CoD demographic. No Tribes fan ever asked for predefined loadouts, two-weapon limits, health regen, ammo-based sniping, unlockables or a complete set of hitscan weapons. Conversely, CoD players expect these things. Coincidence? I think not.
Jerykk I agree with everything you said. But you need to define what you mean by "CoD demographic" because you seem to be using it a perjorative term.

And for their next feet, Blizzard will part the red sea and walk on water and then turn the water into wine. Please. I'm skeptical. This is highly implausible. Ideas like this have been discussed and attempted in the past and there are serious compromises and shortcoming of approaches like this... Show me the evidence. The weight of the evidence will convince me that what is being said is actually true.

Well I kind of liked the demo. A little nostalgia is okay. I played it on the highest difficulty level and those little machine bastards made me sweat.

And they are actually taking feedback and modifying the game? Wow remember those days when a demo comes out, feedback is given, and the developers go and make changes? That's great.

The only way a FPS can be realistic is if you play it while another person stands over you with a loaded gun and shoots you when you get shot in the game. I encourage all of you to try it.
You are making a falacious argument. You ignore the fact that a game's realism falls on a spectrum. It's not either 100% realistic ("another person stands over you with a loaded gun and shoots you when you get shot in the game) or 0% realistic, there is a whole range in between that you are ignoring.

Take the money you would use to buy yet another private island, and invest it in more bandwidth capacity.
