I like feminists and I like feminism. Also belittling women and having a misogynistic attitude does not ingratiate you at all.

Wow they are going to properly support PC customers for Borderlands 2? So they are doing a 180 from Borderland 1, isn't that nice of them.

Look at that first day patches, they read like a beta. It's nice to see another quality PC console port. <scarcasm>

Even if you are a zombie fan, don't buy it at full price. It's not polished and is even less polished for PC. Read the reviews, metacritic is showing low 70 currently. With better game out there, wait for a sale if you must buy this.

Prove me wrong about the potential consolitis id. I want to be wrong. But if i see "press start to begin" or "press x to access inventory" and a low fov and no 16:10 proper widescreen support, I will rage.

I tried to see why so many people love this game? I didn't like it. Everything was in high speed and everyone looked like an energiser bunny on crank. Also the the laggy play, it felt like it was peer to peer. I like a PC style first person shooter, not a console style one.

So much for a realistic game.

What realism? The run-and-gun style gameplay? The Michael Bay-esque explosions? The taking multiple bullet hits and pretending nothing happened?

BF3 is to realistic wargames what Micahel Bay's Transformers is to realistic war movies.
Good points.

News Comments > No Shooting Civilians in Battlefield 3
43. Re: No Shooting Civilians in Battlefield 3 Aug 31, 2011, 15:30 Overon

“In a game where it’s more authentic, when you have a gun in your hand and a child in front of you what would happen? Well the player would probably shoot that child.”
The player COULD shoot that child. Wouldn't it be more mature to have in game consequences for shooting civillians? Say you are haunted by it thoughout the game when you kill civillians or you get repremanded by your superiors for it? Or you create people who want revenge. Get put on trial for war crimes etc? Those are far more mature ways to handle it, all you need to do is create some consequences and you have a much more mature game.

I don’t want to see videos on the internet where people shoot civilians
Yeah are you living under a rock? Why do you think so many civilians die in wars? It's because the combatants SHOOT them. Look at Afghanistan and Iraq, we kill civilians and to sanitize that from a game that is supposedly based on "modern" warfare is whitewash that ignores reality. So much for a realistic game.

Importantly, “That doesn’t mean that I don’t want people to feel that war is not good,… We are trying to do something that is more mature. Mature not being gore –some people confuse the two. That’s childish actually, to want more blood.”
Yes, because depicting a non sanitized version of war is something that must be avoided at all costs. You don't want people to feel thta war is not good? Well that may be why you want to portray war in such a sanitized manor.

He should have been honest and said "We are afraid of negative publicity and that is why we aren't allowing civillians to be shot." Not the bullshit quoted.

I have a passing familiarity with the strict German anti human violence in video game laws. How exactly did they accomplish this? Did germany's definition change or did they have to censor something? They claim they didn't censor so the definition changed? I want to know the details!

Is there a cryptographer in the house? Is there any kind of cryptography used in the game that would give us the key to decoding this?

What bothers me about Deus Ex Human Revolution is that the game designers unrealistically gave Purity First and their sympathizers purely secular justifications for their beliefs. This is highly unrealistic. There is little doubt that in real life, the vast majority of Purity First and their ilk would be religious fundamentalists. They would use religious fundamentalist justifications for their anti augmentation beliefs.

Of course nobody wants to tackle religious fundamentalism in a game. But imagine if someone had the guts to do so in a game? Now that would be the makings of a spectacularly memorable game.

Just as I'm not going to buy Modern Warfare 3 unless it's on EA's Origin, I'm not going to buy Minecraft unless it's on EA's Origin. EA, EA Origin, and everyone who works for EA or contracted by EA, is awesome.

I don't have the game but I did play the "demo." In the "demo" the batteries did not recharge, only the first battery recharged. I thought this was a bug? Is that how it works in the retail game as well?

Fuck EA, Battlefield, and Origin.

Kind of irrational on my part, but I'm not interested in EA, the Battlefield series, nor their Origin service. They have no behaved in ways that would allow me to not be so negative.

Yes take advantage and never go back there again.

I love the "Game Advisor" title, how pretentious. What is that, a glorified clerk? I don't mean the belittle clerks, but who cares how they spruce up the title if it still pays badly?

I read a great article by a developer not too long ago that delved into the whole "Heroes hate helmets" thing, though I can't seem to find it anymore... Anyway, the main reason why is good ol' fashioned individuality, to make the hero stand out among all the faceless goons.

Dead Space 2 is, so far, the best example of a game getting around this popular trope with the hero's neat collapsible helmets.

Speaking of 40k in particular I recall a bit in one of the fluff pieces describing the typical suit of powered armor and how the first thing that fails on them is usually the air filtration system, forcing the wearer to remove his helmet in order to continue breathing.

In the table top game, most of the metallic officer and commander unit models don't even come with a helmet and when they do it's usually a different design than what the basic units come with, though you can take the helmet from one of the fancier plastic units that come with separate parts and use it on the metallic one. From a gameplay standpoint, it's a good idea for heroes to go without helmets so that players can easily identify where their more important units are among the gaggle of basic units, though you can get around this by painting the hero's helmet a different color scheme.

Then there's the whole Space Wolves "We don't like helmets because we can track smells better without them" deal their scouts swear by.
The heroes of the space marines have more decorated armor, that makes them stand out quite a lot since their armor. Like so:

Notice he even has a helmet on, and it's pretty damn distinct from the rank and file space marine. Problem solved.

Gamestop is giving PC gamers one more reason not to buy pc games from them. It's not like they have a large selection anyway, they should just give up even having a PC section. Gamestop go back to where you make the most, ripping off people who sell their used games to you.
