I upgraded to Windows 8.1 when it came out and after a little adjustment period, I like it better than 7.

I think this is a good deal, mainly because Windows 10 will be more secure than Windows 7. If you are running 7, you should give serious consideration to the upgrade when it becomes available.
How do you figure out how secure an operating system is before it's released? The only way to know is way after it gets released. In other words looking back on it. Think about it.

I don't care about streaming xbone games to PC. I pay big money for hardware I don't want inferior xbone hardware to stream to my PC. I guess there probably are some people who do. I just don't know them.

News Comments > H1Z1 Airdrop Explanation/Apology
45. Re: H1Z1 Airdrop Explanation/Apology Jan 18, 2015, 13:31 Overon

They can do all those things they outlined for aidrops without requiring players pay for them. It's really simple. Just make them random. But if they do that then players won't pay. Even if they keep them paid, players are likely to pay less if the chances of not getting to the airdrop if they make it "too contested".

Everything about this game from the low polygon count models and low polygon level geometry, the jerky animations, the terribly low res textures, the lack of good anti aliasing (look at all the jaggies in the sceenshots) scream that there was a small development budget. This is one of those games where the business model is keep the development budget low and make players pay for things. Or that's the impression that I get, which of course can be wrong.

27. Re: H1Z1 Refunds Jan 17, 2015, 01:24 Overon

Gamers don't have the courage of their convictions. It will be like the boycott COD group playing the new COD on day one. Few players will ask for refunds percentage wise. The devs know this and this is a pr win with low monetary cost.

I think I'm going to go out of my way and buy it because of the sentiment behind the comments to pirate it.

I was in the alpha. It's unfortunate that the game has weapons that are hard to miss with and a very spammy feel. It's clearly designed for consoles. If they only made it as a real PC game it would have been better. I was in the Alpha and it was just too much console design decisions for me.

This video is pretty compelling as to why the original version of Oddworld is superior to this new remake:

That is how you review a game. I wish others could review a game. A lot of reasons given.

Hard to get excited about the prospects of this game when you hear about season pass and dlc details like this. Also the game looks like it has too much consolitis. We shall see in the upcoming betas.

Remember don't preorder and don't buy day 1. Wait and see.

Mildly interesting, but of course the trailer has zero game footage.

Of course coming from the developers of Devil May Cry, I can sorta guess how the gameplay is going to be...
There are dev walkthrough vids on youtube. Also the first thing they need to do is allow a wide range of field of view setting because in the dev walkthrough it was the typical narrow console game field of view that pc gamers have grown to hate.

I have seen multiple videos of this game and it looks like it's boring. It seems to have the classic open world problem: it's a mile wide but puddle deep. Who cares if there are as many stars in the galaxy as in our actual galaxy when there is so few things you can do when you get there.

I'm curious whether the libertarians here would support the sale of a pedophile simulator, incidentally.
I would defer to the law in the USA. Current case law, by my understanding is that if the simulated child pornography does not pass the "Miller Test" then it is deemed obscene and illegal. If it does pass the Miller Test then it's not illegal because it is not considered obscene. The Miller test is a test for obscenity which is not protected by the first amendment.

My 3 cents worth is that everyone has their personal line which they are free to advocate and join with like minded individual to advocate. However that applies to everyone equally even though like me want to see the game released no matter how twisted the violence is in the game.

The game has to detect that are you are using some pirated software. Why wouldn't people who bypass copy protection bypass this too?

They are well aware that it will get cracked at some point. Still, its not a bad way to implement DRM. It gives them some more publicity and shows that they have a sense of humour to go along with it.
Agreed.

Unfortunately the only thing can do is file a counterclaim and then wait to see if the other party once to litigate.
