I played the older MechWarrior games long ago, so was curious about this one. However, after watching numerous videos, it looks to be incredibly repetitive. Are you not just doing the same thing over and over again indefinitely?

Yes. And apparently with the changes made throughout the last few months, only sniping builds are viable now. So you're REALLY just doing the same thing over and over indefinitely.
Actually gauss and ppc builds WERE the only viable options as of 3 patches ago. Now the only viable builds are brawlers (that's close range fighting mechs). That's because of the changes they made to gauss and ppc.

I kind of feel bad for the devs sometimes. I remember when Mechwarrior Online was better called LRM Warrior Online because of all the long range missile spam. To counter that they introduced the ability for some mechs to carry ECM (electronic counter measures) that made it take longer for LRM mechs to lock on to the ECM mechs as well as other mechs in the circle of ECM influence. The ECM had to be weakened because it was too protective against LRM spam and against targeting in general.

Then everyone had guass or ppc sniper builds and they put them in JJ (jump jet) capable mechs which resulted in pop-tarting (jumping up from cover straight up and firing ppc's or gauss and falling behind cover giving your opponent little time to target you). That became all the rage so they nerfed that by introducing reticle shake when you JJed (which made it a lot harder to successfully target an enemy because your aiming reticule would shake wildly for most of the JJ time). Everyone realized that gauss and ppc boats were the shit everyone had a sniper build with these weapons.

For a long time people built mechs that was characterized as "boating" like in LRM boating or SSRM (short range missle) boating. All that meant was you filled your mech with a large number of the same weapon. For example the infamous 4 PPC's mechs. So to counter these "boat" builds, they introduced a new mecahnic called heat scale which was derogatorily called "ghost heat" Basically if you fired more than 2 weapons of within a short time frame, your mech generated extra heat. It wasn't linear. If you fired 3 Large Lasers it was not equivalent 3x the heat, it was 3x heat plus some factor which destroyed "boat" builds. Everyone stopped boating after that patch.

Then they increased the heat of the PPC's and required holding down fire button to charge up the gauss before firing. Which destroyed all the sniper builds and that's where we are now, every mech is a short range brawler. No more LRM boats, or gauss or sniper boats. It's lasers, autocannons, and short range missles ie brawling weapons. They have not yet reached that magical balance and after all this time and all the community suggestions to fix the weapon balance without introducing complicated new game mechanics like "ghost heat," many have low hopes they ever will.

Don't trust Randy Pitchford. Remember Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens Colonial Marines.

Randy Pitchford misrepresents games. Example 1 compare and contrast what he said and what he showed of Duke Nukem Forever and what actually came out. And the latest example of this was the infamous Aliens: Colonial Marines. What he said, what he showed, and what we got. Don't trust the word of Randy Pitchford. This is a public service announcement brought to you buy the Don't Get Fucked Again Club. Don't preorder, don't salivate, wait until it's released and then judge it.

I'm cynical and I think this game is so hyped that people are going to be disappointed because it cannot possibly live up to expectation. I hope to be proven wrong however.

Overall I think the game is great. The 2nd to last patch screwed up people's frame rate. However I haven't really noticed probably because I got a beefy rig. Since release if the game they have released over 50 patches. Not quite Team Fortress 2 territory but commendable. I think they will address the frame rate issue that people are complaining about. Also I have dine the tutorials and they have been working fine for me.

I am one of the few humans of the video game community that dislikes the GTA franchise even when it was from the overhead perspective and it was PC only.

Great another no name developer. I'm sure this developer outbid everyone that's why they got the license. Can't wait for the random booster packs for a free collectable card game. I'm sure it wont' be "pay to win."

I'm disappointed reading the Space Hulk review. This looks like another example of a non name developer getting being the lowest bidder on a famous IP and making a piece of shit. Hopefully they release patches that make it better but we shall see.

Remember the Genestealers are not your true enemy, your true enemy are those dastardly dice.

Also this is supposed to be faithful to the board game where pretty much one genestealer hit and you were dead. In the lore supposedly genestealers had claws that would rip armor easily. However I don't see how that makes any sense since their claws are not power weapons but someone more knowledgeable can help me understand why genestealer claws can go through terminator armor so easily and yet not be power weapons (which can).

The graphics are worse than in the demos that they showed us. Everything looks less anti aliased. I love deceptive tech demos.

Finished the demo. It's pretty terrible. Graphics are good but the button mashing (I had to use a 360 pad because this game's controls are not going to work with a mouse and keyboard unless you have a lot more mouse buttons than me). The invisible walls the same cookie cutter gameplay as Devil May Cry and God of War is just more of the same. The biggest bright spot is that Patrick Stewart does voice overs for the story segments. Also this game is chalk full of Christian mythology more so than any Castlevania game to date that I have seen. In fact I would say it's not very Castlevania at all.

You can rebind your keys. The default key bindings are terrible. They use J for attack. There is no preset for mouse.

Besides the art direction and the Shadowrun universe what's there to recommend about the game?
