That's one of the ones that is worthy of 40k. There are too many others that aren't.

Beamer what hardware or software limitations does the PC game development environment have that prevents a developer from making the game they want that also does not simultaneously exist on the new consoles?. I can think of motion controls like kinect and that's it. Can you think anything else?

Why do people jump through these hoops like they are trained circus animals? I read an article a while ago that showed how so many people buy games they never play. Why buy these discounted games about 37% of you will never play. And of those that do you will stop after less than a few hours?

Ars Technica article
I didn't even know about this green, pink, purple color "game" they are doing until yesterday. It's lame. Why reward them for lameness? It's like they are a casino and you are that old lady with the oxygen tank pumping money into their slot machine.

I have no goodwill for Ubisoft. They have fucked over the pc master race too many times. Latest example is gimping Watchdogs.

How exactly did they 'fucked over' the pc users 'too many times'? Yeah Watch Dogs has some graphical things turned off because they cause some serious issues with the lighting engine, but again I'm curious.

My dislike for Ubisoft started with Silent Hunter 4. They never fixed the broken multiplayer. The host of the match would take damage no matter who was hit in the game. They never fixed it. They have a history of leaving egregious bugs in the game and pulling support for the PC version.

I still remember the Dead Rising trailer that got everyone's hopes up. And the game turned out be meh. And why would we think that Dead Rising 3 would be any better? Locking 30 fps and saying that's acceptable is silly and the apologists can fuck right off with that notion. I vote no, with my wallet.

The problem is consumer expectations. Consumers don't seem to expect much from publishers, their expectations low so they buy buggy incomplete broken games. You have to change the consumer's expectations for the publishers to notice and improve.

No KB and Mouse is still pretty terrible.

But graphically there are good mods out there that make it prettier especially the gedosato from the guy who fixed the terrible resolution and frame rate issues with Dark Souls 1 on PC:

I wonder if Nvidia can enhance Ubisoft's released games so that they look and play like the ones shown as tech demos at E3.

Because of the way benchmarking is done on specific games, and pc gamers purchase cards based on a price and performance (which they get from the benchmarks), there is a lot riding on your cards looking good in these game benchmarks. And game specific optimizations can make your card look very good indeed in a game that is used as a performance benchmark.

The closer you can get your optimizations into the game code up the better your hardware is going to look. That's why it's best to get the devs to put your optimizations into the game before it ships, not after with driver specific optimizations. Hence why we have these battles and accusations.

The videos I saw on youtube show a corridor shooter with 20 foot engagement distances. I think the cutscenes may be the best part of the game from what I saw on youtube. Can't wait to see what reviewers say.

We are at extremes if we are talking one one hand no indie developers and on the other all indie developers are a go.

And how would you suggest they do that? Are they supposed to setup lie detector tests for developers new to Steam, or maybe hire detectives to stalk the developers and intercept any potential conspiratorial messages that lay out evil plans like stereotypical action movie villains? The community Greenlights it, and they buy it in Early Access, so they obviously thought it good enough by whatever measures were available. Discovering a major problem later on and then issuing refunds to whoever wants them is just about the most sensible thing that could happen with this kind of situation. Just because you have tons of money, that doesn't mean you should cave to pithy requests to throw it away.
The flaw in your point of view is that Steam had quality control and curation. Don't forget, not anyone could get their games sold on steam. Remember those days? I do. There was no greenlight, and no early access. There were none of these problems. How did they do it then?

The flaw in your point of view is that Greenlight and Early Access are inherently bad ideas. They're not. The vast majority of stuff that flows through is well-received (to varying degrees) and doesn't cause problems. Valve is interested in innovating digital distribution, not making knee-jerk over-reactions to a handful of bad apples. I will grant you that they do need to make some changes to the store to accommodate the influx of releases (which they've started to do, i.e. tags), but to say they should go back to when publisher representation was required is just asinine.
There is a middle ground between our points of view.

By excluding indie developers almost entirely. And they still had plenty of shitty games. No, there wasn't the occasional fraudster, but there were plenty of games that weren't even close to being good or worth the asking price.
And now that effect has been magnified and made worse. I think there is a middle ground between the extremes we are discussing.
