Well I hope Joel can put together his personal life, after reading that thread I wouldn't wish having your house repo'd with child support bills on anyone. It's the right move getting yoru real life together first and taking care of yoru kids before trying to develop a computer game, you can develop a game anytime you want, but first be sure your kids have food on the table and in that sense I think he is making a smart move.

Rockstar is just the publisher...unless they soaked up the production house
Rockstar was/is the name of the console publishing arm of Take 2. GTA3 was made by DMA Designs. GTA3 did so well that Rockstar bought out DMA and renamed it Rockstar North.
Rockstar the publisher has a yellow logo, whereas Rockstar North the developer has a blue logo. Ergo, if it has the yellow logo and not the blue logo it has nothing to do with the guys who "made" GTA3.
This game, Manhunt, is indeed by the same guys who made GTA3.

I heard the game was actually good, even if border lining on tasteless. Don't quote me on this, but I think I read somewhere it was developed by the same Production house that developed the GTA games (as Rockstar is just the publisher...unless they soaked up the production house).

Uh
Anyone else noticed that 5 out of 6 paragraphs of this "press release" about how the game gone gold describes their marketing campaign?
You think they'd mention some highlights from the game...maybe at least one or two.

This is awesome
I wanted to actually reinstall and play T2 the other day to find out my CD was beyond repair sigh.
Dynamix owned.
I would always by Dynamix games from Red Baron to T2.
As soon as it's available on Fileplanet I'm grabbing and playing, I hope there is a revival of good servers.
And I can actually play it on MAX detail.

That's because all these movies you see are the scripted ones that were "totally unscripted" then proven to be via the guys who stole the source code.
Or so I'm told. :/

Nothing gets me "hyped" (and hyped for....what? Some announcement maybe?) then stuff that I saw a year ago.
All Valve prejudices aside, If you want me to get excited over something, at least try to tease me with something fresh. This stuff hyped me a year ago, it's not going to magically rehype me all the sudden by getting it in bink format. You think they'd be better at hyping stuff given the last time they hyped me they told me I would have Half-Life 2 on Sept. 30th then on Sept 29th they broke up with me and dropped the "big shocker" that it's going to be a few more months.
Silly Valve. Not saying this game won't be good, but it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth when they do silly things without thinking them through.

Well
Just tried it again and it still doesn't work. Blah
I can log into the Main Server now, but now I just don't get a list. Go figure. If I did get a list, it'd probably just have all those red XXX's in the ping slot anyway and wouldn't let me connect.
I figure if it doesn't work tonight it's getting uninstalled, forget about buying it.  Only way I'd buy it if it got great reviews.
