Though I don't necessarily support Take-Two here Darabont sounds like a douche in that quote.

Yes, it was going to be called L.A. Noir, based on the book by John Buntin. But the video game company with the video game called L.A. Noire (with an e!) threatened to sue the shit out of me, TNT, every company that actually ever worked in Hollywood. And they have the billions of dollars to back it up, apparently.

Note the stressing of video game... Which at first seems like it's being done, fair enough, to distinguish that these are properties in different mediums. But then he goes on with "actually ever worked in Hollywood" and "apparently" as if he can't believe a video game company would/could dare stand up to Hollywood.

I think you are reading too much into it. I believe he is just saying the lawsuit is so broad that almost any company in Hollywood even remotely related to the show would be sued. I think the 'apparently' is just him conceding that it isn't with it since they could fight a good fight.

On a somewhat unrelated note. Both my wife and I about a week ago received emails from ArenaNet saying we requested email changes for our Guild Wars 2 accounts, even though neither one of us has the game. Quite strange.

Oh. You meant post-release DLCs. I thought you were talking about the game itself. Problem with them announcing them now is that people start thinking that the DLC is already complete and that it's being purposefully withheld for money-grabbing purposes. I don't blame them for keeping their mouth shut, but they probably should have also stayed quiet on the season pass until after release.

I also do think that anyone who buys the season pass but didn't get the Mechromancer as a pre-order bonus should just be given that as well, but I guess that's not going to happen.

Yeah you are right, good call.

Already telling people what isn't included instead of what is, not a good way to get buyers.
Welcome to, like, six years ago. That's how AAA games are sold now.

And if you have read stuff and watched videos, you'll get a pretty damn good idea of what's included.

Please be so kind as to link me the articles/videos which give me an idea of what dlcs are included in the season pass.

Also, I agree season pass holders shouldn't get preorder dlcs the same time as preorder people, but they made it clear it will be available for purchase later on. I think it should be part of the season pass when it becomes available for everyone else.

Didn't they eventually patch in cloud saves?

That was the steamworks integration they added in awhile back.

I thought so.

Not a hypocrite at all...

We were founded here, in Massachusetts, and itís where we would love to stay, and grow. But (and thereís always a but) our first responsibility and priority will always be the long term health of the company and the companies families. To not explore and pursue these conversations with other cities would be the height of negligence on our part, and thatís just not going to happen.

These people trust us to do right, and as leadership we will.

So no, we arenít out shopping ourselves, we are doing what any business would in its early stages which is planning for the health and well being of its employees, and the long term health of the company. Given that we currently employ almost 160 people and that number is conservatively projected to grow by 2-3 times in the next 24 months, in this economy, weíve become a desirable asset for any city trying to create jobs.

So contrary to written reports Iíve never said or will say ďgive us tax credits or we boltĒ. I donít work that way, and we wonít as a company work that way. The company is financially healthy, the publishing deal we recently inked with EAP means our first product (Mercury) will get to market when itís ready, on time and on budget, and Copernicus is growing daily in ways that seemed a pipe dream just 3 short years ago.

Hmm, let's see if my guy is eligible? Just gotta find that keyfob, ok found it. Logging in, and, no eligible characters. Hunh, I guess the server I was on is in ok shape? ...checking server status....dark reaper, light. Hunh...shouldn't that be a transfer eligible server?

Wait what is this:

Your account...

...must have an active subscription or game time remaining.
...must not be banned.

...I see. So I have to pay to use your "free" transfers and by the looks of it a transfer for me would not be free either. You guys are so awesome bioware. Keep it up.

Well it kind of makes sense, why would you want to transfer if you aren't going to play anyway?

As for the 10%, it's my estimate, and I'd guess it's a fairly solid estimate. No one has done solid research on this because it's IMPOSSIBLE to do solid research on this. What, do you think Epic has the capability to find a decent sample size that pirated Bulletstorm and get them to accurately state whether they would have bought it?

This is exactly the problem. There is no way to prove such things yet the developers and publishers spew out these claims as if they are based on some kind of hard evidence. As many have said, it is all a smoke screen for those at fault for a sub-bar product to protect themselves from investors/executives who don't know any better and think these claims have some sort of bearing on reality. Which is why most PC users get upset by these remarks, because they are insulting, switching blame to your customers or potential customers is never good business practice.

Let us pretend for a minute your 'estimate' is something close to an actual representation, 100,000 more sales on these kind of big budget games makes little difference in the long run. So even if their claims about piracy were true, they didn't make or break the game.

Now in the near future when it is established that Star Wars The Old Republic has been a massive failure, you will notice piracy will not be a potential scapegoat. As with all failed MMO's piracy will not be mentioned and some of the real reasons for the failures might actually see the light of day.

I am a member of the camp that piracy does not equal a lost sale, and on the whole probably contributes more sales then removes. Most people rely on word of mouth from people they trust as a motivator to purchase products like movies, video games, songs. Few people if any will say they played/watched/listened illegally, it is irrelevant.

I'd love to know if Aria T'loak is based on a composite of females or inspired by someone in particular. Seems to me her face is very familiar and reminds me of someone in particular though it escapes me at the moment and is driving me insane. I find both her ruthlessness and aloofness incredibly hot and wish there was a really raunchy sex scene with her. :P

Aria was voiced and faced by Carrie-Anne Moss, aka Trinity from the Matrix.

Yeah, I know that and she does an amazing job. However, I mean how the character looks. Her face is just really damn familiar. Something about the eyes and mouth. Anyay, as the Asari go she's the hottest IMO.

He said voiced and faced.

So why then do people describe something like Kingdoms of Amalur as a "single-player MMO?" Because the term has come to represent more than its acronym.

Most likely they are trying to cash in on the people that have heard of the MMO genre and are familiar with games like World of Warcraft. It is easier to say single-player MMO, even though that is an oxymoron. That doesn't mean MMO no longer means Massively Multi-player Online, it means the person that wrote that is lazy. Kingdoms of Amalur is a single-player action adventure RPG. Guild Wars is a multi-player dungeon RPG or something similar.

A lot of people seem to hold GW in fairly high regard. I'm not an MMO fan. I've watched friends play them, and just never saw the appeal. Is this one any different? I just don't enjoy grinding and don't have the time to put in for long play-sessions. If it's not fun to just play for an hour a few times a week, then it's probably not for me.

Calling the original Guild Wars an MMO is a very, very long stretch, so if you don't like MMO gameplay style I would say give it a shot. As for GW2, I don't know enough about it to form an opinion, try for the beta, can't hurt.
