The True Crime. |

Ever since I played true crime: streets of L.A. - I've been afraid to go there. We had to do a stop over there one time and I was too scared to move out of my seat on the plane. And thats becasue I played a game that 'mis-represented' L.A. and its various neighbourhoods. Just like GTA labeled alot of races and cultures in its game. I think this lawsuit is the right thing to do. Someones gotta draw the line somewhere. If not, it'll just get worse to the point that even a videogame could lead to war. (Doubt that will ever happen, but you get the point).

You know what the funniest thing of this whole problem is, 90% of the people out there wouldn't have known about it if this or similar things wern't posted on the internet. The guy shoulda just shut up - just like the mad cow desease thing in Alberta, Canada. But thats alot bigger than a link on the game poster in a virtual world. Whats next? Virtual Mad Cow desease?

Fantastic Game |

Fantastic Game. I loved it on PC and now I can play it on my favourate consoles. I just hope the PS2 is capable of holding at least half the graphic power the PC version had. The XBOX should be fine. But one thing Im concerned about - is the PC version had a very bad habbit of slowing down and 'chugging' along - even on the highest end of computers. I hope they didnt sacrifice alot of detail to make the game consolfied. The game was known for its indepth detail.

Mafia |

Anyone remember the game Mafia? The one that quietly made its way onto store shelfs and never really became a blockbuster, only to those who bought it. That was an excellent game is amazing detail to each area of the games 'districts'. I wish it we're faster pased like GTA, but it was still a great game and the graphics we're 100x better than most of the games at that time! If only GTA came that way and not water-bogged-PS2 style graphics.

No Law |

I find it funny that the game was made in Montreal, Quebec - Canada. They have no laws in canada against censoring and such, Heck they could have adorned the garage walls with naked women and nobody would care. Ship it anywhere else and next thing you know theres choppers and armoured cars outside your home because the word 'porn' was mentioned. Haha! This is great. Subliminal Messaging. All hail the french!

V8 Power |
Nov 18, 2003, 04:19 |

Gotta love that good ol' easy V8 Power. I've got a 5.7L V8 in my Chevy Astro Van (A vehicle never offered with stock V8 power, only made in I4 and V6 Configurations). I remember pulling upto this Ricer of somekind at a light. I think under the 1000 pound of addons it was a prelude. It was pretty quick. But I'll never forget the look on his face when he caught up to me at the next set of lights. I mean, my Van is quite stock under the hood for a V8 engine. We think somewheres around 280HP and my van weighs like 4000 Pounds. But it just had so much get up and go than the (Im assuming) V6 he had. All hail the V8 Power.
And everyone remembers the racing formula. Tourque gets you to horsepower. Horsepower gets you to speed. Speed gets you to victory. And V8's have more lower end Tourque than any I4 or V6.
As for NFS: Underground. The sooner it gets in my mailbox, the sooner I can play it.

This will sell |
Nov 11, 2003, 01:06 |

This game will sell because of two factors.
1) Its a Need for Speed title.
2) You can fully customize in any fashion ALL aspects of your car.
EA didnt need to work on racing physics, they basically had these two other factors to do the selling for them. I think it would take a couple weeks at least for anyone to find flaws in the racing systems physics just because they are in awe of all the other options the game has.

I like to contradict myself because its easy to get you people all worked up. Then again, sometimes its a chore
Alls I have to say is something like........Hmmmm...lets see.......
Final Fantasy was the worst series of roleplaying games ever. Alls it was is a bunch of videos with limited gameplay which was crap. Although the concept was cool.

I'd like to see what microsoft comes up with on this one, especially controller wise. They already did a good enough job on the first controller(s) design. I hope its nothing like the original sidewinder joystick for PC> the one that you twisted in the middle. Although that would be kinda cool.

Keyboard. |

Oh I know my 130 key, keyboard pretty well. I love the fact it has so many hot keys in games that you have to find one by one. But sorry your minds are too advanced and can't comprehend the Absolute Simpleness of an Xbox controller. I mean, I can do twice as much, twice as fast in Rainbow Six 3 for XBOX as I can on PC. But then again, Im a sucker because 8 Buttons are quicker than 130, and I figured out how to use a console controller. Too bad you didnt take time out of your busy 'studying your keyboard' shedule to learn how to use a console. You should, it pays off to know everything.
Man you guys are soooo easy to work up, this is getting fun!

XBOX can host waaaay more than 16. Its just the number they chose to stick with for now. I mean, the XBOX LIVE network can only send information so fast y'know. Just wait until Star Wars Galaxies hits the console in a few years, if ever. Its just kinda hard to manage 32 people all trying to talk at once, 16 is enough as it is.

What is this, looks like a console game thing. Just because it seems not to match upto pc games in options and features you call it a console game as if they are inferior. Look at Grand Turismo, it's a console game, but it's top notch and I wish we had it on pc.
I agree in some aspects. I mean look at consoles. They are waaaay ahead of PC's. They managed to simplify the whole game into an 8 button (respectively) Controller. PC still has, what, 105-125 Buttons? PC's are HUGE, Bulky and Immobile (unless you have a laptop). 1000's of dollars later and you've still got something that doesnt put out the framerate you'd like to see. I'd say console has something pretty good going for it.

Another one..... |

Its just another product that the publishing machine called EA is putting out. If you dont like it, then dont play it. If you like it, play it. Nobody really cares anymore. EA doesnt care. They are the biggest publisher of them all, what have they got to lose? I could care less about how the game feels. Im all about customization, which I think was the aspect on this game. I want to build stuff, Im not really interested in the racing to win portion. I wanna see what I can come up with that will bafle people. I remember in MCO I has this 71' Plymouth Duster with a 440cui Engine Naturally Aspirated only making about a top notch 600HP. I could beat anyone on this circuit track regardless of their HP Rating. It was just so well balanced. EA thought I was cheating, but they checked it out themselves and found it was a good match. I mean, 600HP vs. 1400HP and I could still win with plenty of time to spare. I want to see if I can pull of similar effects in NFS. Racing is just a bonus.
Remember, Too Much Power is Just as bad as not Enough.

I think there would be a replay mode, how could they get so many screen shots from different perspectives. It might be a last minute thing that they are puting in. They probably thought it wouldnt be worth it to do that in the Demo and hold it back even longer. I guess we will have to wait the 2 weeks to see.

Damage |
Nov 7, 2003, 19:31 |
Alak |
|
|
Theres no damage modelling because the manufacturers of the cars dont want it in there. If all the manufacturers but one said yes to damage, they still cant do it. The other reasons why is because if I totaled a Supra Completely in an accident, Then did the exact same accident in a Celica and only had minor damage, what car are you most likely to buy now? Thats why Gran Turismo didnt have damage. Because people can use that as a front to look at the safety features of the cars on top of the performance and handling. It sounds silly but its true. Thats why Porsche and companies like that are VERY picky on what games their cars are in. Sure you might see arcade damage like in MCO, but it doesnt really do anything other than dent it visually.

Drag Racing. |
Nov 4, 2003, 13:48 |
Alak |
|
|
Took me awhile but I eventually got the hang of Drag Racing. The key is the start. Dont over rev your car, time it right so that your RPMs are about 7000 when its time to go, then just go. You'll notice on the starting line if you watch your tach, the little arrow changes colours to denote what the engine will do when its time to go. Try to keep it in the green. I know its hard, even with an analog pedal its a pain in the butt. Shift perfect everytime and use your NOS before the tunnel with the three cars. Then keep to the absolute left to win, but theres a ramp on the right near the train at the end for those that feel dangerous. I thought it was retarded that you cant drag online. Or at least I didnt see a way to. But I do like the setup of chat room servers, then create your game in one. Sorta like a flashback to MCO with the Circuit Chat Room Server, then you create your games from there. This game has HUGE Potential. I smell a very realistic game of the year award. Of course, we'd have to wait and see the final product before final judgement.

Too little too early. |

I think this XBOX 2 is a little pre-mature. They've barely unlocked the power of this system. But I think if IBM makes the processor and ATI is making the Graphics Core, then Microsoft can consentrate on the other hardware and we could end up with a spectacular system.
And XBOX isnt a glorified PC. Saying that means that all the other system are too. Well, PS2 especially since it says Computer Entertainment system on the box. The only thing the other consoles dont have (yet) are harddrives. They all have computer processors and graphics cores and function the same way. Microsoft just decided to use what they have thats already capable and not waste time and money on 'inventing' new technology.

NFS U Graphics & Gameplay |

I want this game to have graphics so good, that when I look at a car in the showroom, I can see the reflection of myself looking through my monitor at the car. Thats when you know they've hit the level of capability where the Radeon 9800's and GeForce FX's are really starting to have a work out. But the game so far looks great, but Im skeptical of the new drift mode. After watching those videos showcasing it, It made it look like powerslides from mariokart. Now if that isnt arcade, then I dont know what is.

I wish they had expanded a little and included Mustangs in the game. It would be a little unfair, but Mustangs are a large part of the Street Racing Underground. I drive a 2003 Mach 1, but I (and many others) would have loved to see at least a 2003 Mustang GT in the game. Gotta love that V8 power. Hell I was out the other night cruising the town and seen a Black 2002 Mustang GT all RICED out! It had 2 Huge 3" Soup Can Mufflers and what looked like a Body Kit that shoulda fit on a late model Supra. I bet it was even Turbocharged with HKS power. He sure beat my 305HP ass. Anyways, I think we should make the best of this and put up a Wishlist of cars we'd like to see in the Future. Try not to discriminate others choices, every person has different tastes.
Wishlist -------------
2003 Mustang GT
Just add on to the list.
