I'm not sure how I've held out this long, but between this and Dead State, I'm going to be maximizing my video game time over the next few weeks.

I'm a sucker for these games, so I'll likely drop $20 on it on day one.

The standalone is a buggy mess and showing no signs of being finished anytime soon and DayZ managed to sneak back into the top 10. That's just amazing.

Yeah, it's still a pretty fun game though. I still play it infrequently although the lack of progress in the 11 months since release is disappointing. The network code is the big failure point to date.

It's an early-access game that's been in the top 10 most weeks since being released last December.

If it wasn't -10C outside with the possibility of snow, and I wasn't stuck at work, I'd be firing up the old Weber Smokey Mountain for some kind of meaty deliciousness.

I tried the beta, looks like they put alot of thought into the game, but it just does not feel right having to aim your ship to shoot. Just seems a bit ridiculous in a space game.

I seem to remember that some weapons are "gimball'd" meaning you can aim them independtly to shoot, and some are fixed, meaning you have to move your whole ship to aim them, XWing style.

Too bad GTA doesn't let you roll your own toon in open world. I'd have a lot more respect for GTA, if at the very least they let you play as neutral, if not a good toon.

Forced villain? Bleh... Shakefist

This is like complaining about being a hitman in Hitman.

Already bought. I always loved IWD more than BG. It was less about story and romance bullcrap and more about min/max'ing, fighting bosses and traveling through large dungeons full of traps.

Yep. In a lot of ways it was more fun. I hope the EE adds lots of new stuff. I pretty much did everything in IWD the first time around.

Yeah, I think I actually enjoyed Icewind Dale more than either Baldur's Gate.

I will eventually get around to playing this...still need to finish BG2:EE.

Was there a specific reason you were upgrading your video card drivers? I typically only do that once or twice a year unless I have a specific issue.

As you say, Blue, this process can be "nightmarish".

I think I get my natural gas furnace serviced once every three years. Mine's relatively new (4 years old) and sees heavy use over the winter (Canada is cold).

My AC unit is 20 years old and has been serviced once in 10 years and just keeps ticking.

NEWS FLASH!

Goddamn, that was a good show. Such a shame... Shame

I'm still pissed Fox killed Futurama, years ago (despite it living on elsewhere). They seem to have next to no patience...at least they didn't ruin Fringe too badly.

Yet somehow The Simpsons lives on.

Found this copycat recipe for the Creole seasoning: http://www.food.com/recipe/tony-chacheres-creole-seasoning-copycat-500434

No idea if it's any good, haven't tried the original, but I will try making the copycat sometime.

Blue, what do you generally put it on that you love?

Who keeps buying Day Z? Haven't followed the game in several months but last I checked there was barely any content. Small amount of zombies, guns and equipment.

From what I gathered it was not worth the money unless you were a hard core Day Z player.

I bought it day one. I still enjoy it, but it's still a hot mess.

Zombies are a bit more plentiful and can pose a threat in the most recent update. There's also plenty of equipment and weapons. They just introduced respawning loot and item persistency with the recent update, but now they have a problem with a lack of decent loot respawning...it seems towns fill up with junk.

As someone else said, people watch anything. Give it a try. You can always stop if you don't like it.

Those last two sentences are how I convinved my wife to let me film...oh..nevermind.

You guys could always try out DayZ for your Monday night sessions. It's always fun to hold up others or full-on ambush people for their gear. Plus the time spent trekking across the countryside provides ample time for random discussions.

It just blows my mind that what used to be an expense for a developer (beta testing to ensure a working product) is now a major revenue stream. Paying $75, not to mention $150, to do their work for them is a mindset I simply cannot fathom.

Most people that buy into the early access thing (alphas and betas) don't really participate actively in testing. They just play the game.

Hopefully developers don't lose their incentive to actually "finish" games after making a pile of money on early access.... DayZ's been a top-seller on Steam since December and is still in the alpha phase. They could literally just stop development on it now and walk away having made a pile of money. Here's hoping that doesn't happen, and doesn't become a trend.

I played PAYDAY 2 once, by myself, on a free via Steam weekend. It was some mission where I had to go in to a mall and smash stuff. Then cops started showing up in endless waves, leading to a ridiculous, never-ending firefight. I think the problem was I just didnít really know how to accomplish my goal, and also the AI team mates werenít overly competent. So it was a mediocre play session, and I gave up on it.
