No, I don't have links & I'm not going to research it just to prove you wrong. Before Egghead died I worked there, and we were allowed to "check out" any software we wanted to bring home and test so that we would be more knowledgable. Of course, a lot of guys were burning copies when they did this and had tens of thousands of dollars of software on their harddrives. The one brand they did not copy was Adobe, because they were like the Gestopo.
Anyway, as a concealed pistol owner, one of the I've learned is that open-carry is not neccessarily illegal; nor is bringing a gun to a NFL stadium. However, there are other laws that suggest that such actions could constitute intimidation with a weapon for instance. The source I learned this from states that while it is not necessarily spelled out to be illegal, you don't want to be the test case in a court of law because even if you win it will still cost thousands of dollars in attorney fees and lots of time spent wondering if you will be thrown in jail. So when I say that I have prior knowledge of Adobe being hard-nosed about piracy, I'm not exactly going to test the waters.
Fact of the matter is that I don't have one single illegal program on my computer at all. I don't have any illegal movies, music, or illegal porn. Everything on my computer is legit and can be proven to be legit. If any company or person comes at me stating that I have something illegal on my system, I can prove that I do not. The only way to be safe is not to be a criminal. I do not steal (period).
The only thing I do is insult people, and that's because I'm an asshole to almost anyone I don't know. I carry a gun in case it gets way out of hand; but I don't concede the right of way on the roads, and I don't back down when tough young men talk shit, I talk it right back. I don't fight anymore, but when I did I tried to fight guys that were bigger than me (pick on someone your own size kind of thinking), because what's the point of challenging someone I can mercilessly fling around like a rag doll? What I'm saying is that people might not like me, but I don't give a shit. The people that I do know, I care about deeply and I am a giving, gracious, loving, kind man. Everyone else can fuck off!

I have Photoshop & it takes about 10 seconds to deactivate for a reinstall. I don't see the problem with it.
Sure, if every program on the computer was like that, then yeah you have a point; but this is one single game & everyone is getting all worked up about it. So what.

I don't like it there. But you have to admit that there would be a lot less pirating if the hands came off & it got on the news.
As it is now, nothing ever happens. No wonder people steal! There's no deterrent at all!

NO, it's because I have had things stolen from me in the past and it is a violating feeling.
Imagine if someone stole your computer and with it all your personal files and everything that you had spent time on, your saved games, all your pictures, all your music. I'm willing to bet that if the police had the authority to punish the criminal with amputation that you wouldn't have to think too long about it.
I really don't give a fuck if it's a loaf of bread or a gumball. Off go the hands. I'm sick of assholes that think they can just take something. I'm willing to bet that if this country took care of theives like Saudi Arabia they would have the same extremely low robbery rates as that country does. No matter what is stolen, it was stealing, off go the hands.

Adobe has long been recognized as a company that has very little patience with theives. You're just talking out of your ass. They have a reputation of pressing charges.

Yes, but if Adobe catches you, they bring you to court. They do not fuck around at all.
If gamers thought that they ran the risk of going to jail or heavy fines, then that would help.
Personally, I like the Saudi Arabia answer to this. If you steal, you get your hands chopped off. End of story.

Adobe uses limited installs and deactivation tools.
This is the best way to prevent assholes from stealing the game. I have no problem with it at all. If you use the tool correctly, you can uninstall & reinstall as much as you want.

I believe that this is going to bite Valve in the ass one day, and it certainly puts a kink in my plans to get the games for 1/2 price six months later. I guess I'll wasting a bit of gasoline this weekend.
