I had a bunch of ants in my house. Got those bates, put three down around the house. Two hours later, you could see a thick stream of ants taking the stuff back to their den. A day later, no more ants to be found.

I am along the lines of a horse mod not being worth $2. I think it's great Beths is selling quality mods along side free community mods, but they need to work on the value-price ratio.

I am so sick and tired of Garriot. I used to follow what he was doing, but now he sounds like a brocken record. "What I am doing now is great. I made Ultima 4! Remember that 20 years ago?"

While I don't look at graphics to determine a game purchase, I do look at the graphics to determine if the price is right, not to mention how long it's been out. DW should sell for $20, tops. If packaged and in the store, I can understand possibly $25~30.

I agree with Fartacus, and I feel really bad for those laid off. In two cases I have worked for companies that I was lucky enough to see major layoffs at least six months down the road, and left right before. The thing is, job security doesn't exist anymore, especially for programmers, and extra especially for game programmers who rely on projects. Salary just means you are a contractor who makes half the amount of a contractor.

I am confused why that link to the beerleaders was even posted. The only amusement I got out of it was they were from Clear Lake High, which was where I was from...worst school ever.

A lot of these game companies that are contracted out/owned from big guys like Konami and Namco really don't get to choose what game they are going to make. This is one reason I could never even fathom working in that industry. I can see my boss now..."Ok guys, we are now going to make Pac Man cart!".

Then I guess you don't like satalite radio, cabel, internet access or a girld friend either. All of which require initial fees and recuring monthly fees.

I agree about that. Romero was pretty much fired from all his jobs. Id, he was pretty much pushed out. Ion Storm, he was freak'en fired, and to be fired from your own company is the ultimate humiliation in my book. Midway, he left with an unfinished sucky product. Whatever happen to MonkeyStone? And now this new one? Yea, starting over does feel good, but do you know what feels better? Actually finishing a GOOD game. How dare he think he is better than people doing a salary lifestyle. To each their own and all of that.

What makes me confused is not only does DSmart insult his current user base, he trashes and argues every point anyone has. I for one would love to play a good space sim, even a half-ass one without shadows. DSmart just doesn't understant that a little humility would almost double his user base. I would bet everyone here would buy his game if he came across like a reasonable cool guy. I've bought really crappy games at $20 just because the developers were really nice and and I knew they were trying hard, so I supported them. Man, DSmart, you don't know how much I want to play your game. I have picked up your boxes SO many times. If you can't change your ways, I highly recommend getting a PR crue, or customer care front end to deal with the public.

So...millions in revenue, stretched out over how many games, versions and deals? After you finish paying your peons and server costs, you probably aren't left with much. You can't even afford shadows.

Since we can use CE to make Dreamcast games, does this mean I can run this on my DC?

Well, if blobs are shit, then they would fit right into your game.

Ok, let's look at an example...

http://www.3000ad.com/pics/ucg/07-27-05/PHOTO000.PNG

Is that guy on the left a short guy jumping, or a little bit in the distance? Even if we accept that he is farther away, we must now assume all the models are the exact same size, which may not be true. In the end, to fully understand the position and sizes of these characters, we have to assume everything, or rely on models clipping into the ground which won't be happening on flatter ground. Adding a spot blob shadow below them is not glitz, it is visual clarity when using this camera angle.
