They should be looking at seizing all assets and chattels to auction off and recoup what they can.

Except that will never happen, given how public this situation is. That would mean that local government made a mistake, gave money to someone that wasn't worthy (and the public found out about the whole thing or knew from the start) and now that it failed miserably (what the hell do they do with all this money?! $75 MILLION?! Think about that for a second. No way operating expenses went that high. Not a chance. It was wasted, plain and simple) they have to find a way to come out of it without having to resign. Auctioning the assets would be the smart thing, but it will be the last resort...

I've had a Samsung ML-2010 black laser for about 6 years now and besides the annoying habit of grabbing more than one piece of paper from the pile (and thus jamming the whole thing up nice and tight), it's been a real good $120 investment. When I walked into Best Buy that day and saw it, I wasn't looking for a printer but I always had wanted a laser printer for it's speed and clarity, and seeing the low price, I got the last one from the shelf. The original toner cart that came with it lasted me four years! No lie, though, granted, I don't print much and certainly not every day, nor every week for that matter. I was still surprised though. In fact, the reason I changed it wasn't because it was going out, it was because I thought it might be the reason for the paper jams and grabbing of more than one piece at a time. I later attributed it to the printer being moved around all the time and possibly being bumped or slightly dropped, thus misaligning some important component. That's the only reason I can come up with, as I've changed the toner cart twice since and the problem remains. I would never go back to inkjet printers again. If anything, I'd save up for a color laser now. My mom has a huge all-in-one HP printer/scanner/fax monstrosity that my late sister had bought but never used. She loves it as it has extensive photo printing capabilities (a Photosmart 3310). I kinda tolerate it since it has wired/wireless administration and remote printing...

I never really understood this. The controls, aiming, shooting are exactly the same as a FPS but you get to see your character and any any cool armor/weapons/effects ect. Do you not like part of your screen being blocked? Do you like the smaller FOV? Or, just miss the sort of immersion aspect of full FPS.

Yes.

Dude, shhhh! You're ruining the post-orgasmic bliss! Smoking

Anyway, I have to say that they don't build 'em like they use to, even Sony. My sister got a 13" Sony tv in 1982. I was four at the time and vividly remember playing this awesome thing on it that consisted of white blocky lines going up and down the screen on either side of a white line with another block going back and forth in-between...which was our first video console, an Atari5200 w/2600 adapter, which sits, btw, next to me on the shelf, along with the 13" Sony tv - both still work perfectly, along with the dented and scratched metal remote control! And I hate to say it actually outlived her. She passed in 2006 at 42, this 30 year old tv still works as good as the day she got it...

Also, I was one of those 'leet' sumbitches that got a PS3 thinking it would end up being as playable as it's PS2 predecessor. I wish I bought a 360 every single day since...

Indeed, 'technically' any game that came out before Win7 doesn't really support it either. Yes, I know. Please don't explain how idiotic that statement of mine is, I'm not listening. Dozey

I don't usually even look at requirements anymore, to be honest. I've had games I never thought would work natively in Win7 do just fine and then other, much newer games absolutely choke on their own code. Puke You install, hit the icon and cross your fingers. Fingerscrossed If it's your day, have fun. If not, then, well, good luck getting lost in Google links of obscure two year old forum threads that mention the problem but never have an actual solution... Pouting

First Battlefront was 'ok' but the second one, while more advanced, had some really weird bugs/quirks, at least for me anyway. My mouse never would function correctly and I would get weird spikes and lags when aiming, sometimes it would lag as I lined up a shot and then all of a sudden, it would take off past my target and ruin the shot. And I never knew when or if it was gonna happen. Plus the AI did some really off the wall stuff sometimes, especially in vehicles such as star fighters...

There are many variations of that, always good things to ask. Anyone that says "nothing" is lying.

Yeah, yo! True dat my nig...uh, I mean, Yes, very true, kind sir.

I had someone say that to me yesterday and I came very close to decking him right there where he stood (not to mention his 'look at how ripe my ass is for the raping' jeans down to his knees and obligatory 'wife-beater' shirt, silver chain and 'K-N-O-W-P-A-I-N' tat across the knuckles) but he was under 18 and I didn't feel like getting arrested before Saturday anyway (heck, I don't care about waking up in a cell on Saturday morning for something utterly stupid I did the night before, I'll just be sleeping it all off anyway, so long as no one touches my ass)...

Don't forget the famous, 'What's the one thing you'd say needs improvement' or the twisted little brother of that question, 'What are your bad habits?'. Well, if he knows what the hell he's doing and has been trained the correct way, with experience, then he shouldn't worry whether he gets grilled or not. Obviously you can't think of every little thing in a five minute interview, but if he knows his IT stuff, then any serious question should be easy to pass...just sayin'. I know interviews can be nerve-racking. I typically go absolutely blank during them, but that's me. If it's actually IT questions and scenarios they bring up related to the job he wants, and he knows what the job requires (and is not just trying for a rank higher than he can do yet and planning to learn as he goes) then it shouldn't be a problem...

"We don't speak about Action Park anymore..."

Well, it was bound to become legend. Action Park was something I grew up with. I was born and raised in Sussex County, NJ, just about 20 mins south of Vernon, where Action Park was the face of the Vernon Valley - Great Gorge ski resort during the summer months (Now called 'Mountain Creek') . The stories I used to hear would 'turn your shit white!'. The 'Cannonball Loop' was well known, though before I started skiing in 1992, I had never seen it myself. During the summer of 1993, I went to Action Park with some local friends. All of us being around 14 years old, we were old enough to know some of this crap was crazy, but still young enough not to really care. We figured...I figured that if it was really that unsafe, it would have been shut down long ago. How naive I was. While I wasn't hurt during that day, one event did shake me up enough to be very wary of going on anything else and most times after I would stand and wait for my friends to finish.

There was a 'ride' in the park called the 'Cliff Jump' and it was exactly what you would expect, a 30 foot drop and a higher 50 foot drop down into a (very cold) pool, lined with rocks. The pool was pretty big so the rocks weren't much of a concern, unless you didn't get enough distance when you jumped, which is what happened to me. Since I'm deathly afraid of heights, I would only go on the 30ft jump, and only after being ridiculed about being scared of going on the 50ft one. The 'attendants' were no more than slightly older high-school kids getting some extra cash at a summer job. There was a line of kids (no adults that I could see anywhere, which I thought odd at the time), you stepped up to the edge, the kid would have his hand in front of you and after the kid before cleared enough distance in the pool (they'd alternate between the two drops, though the higher one was to the right far enough not to be much of a concern), he'd pull his hand up and you jumped.

Well, everything went fine until it was my turn. The kid in front of me jumped, splashed down and swam away. The 'attendant' kid looked to the other drop for permission to let me go but no one jumped from the higher drop even though there was a line. So after a second (this all happened in seconds), he gave me the go ahead and I went to jump. At the very last second, he went to put his hand down in front of me. But my momentum wouldn't let me stop that fast and I grabbed the metal railing that was behind the kid and at the edge, trying to stop. It didn't work. I had to jump. (Like I said, this was split-second stuff) I hoped to God I had enough clearance and fell, hoping the kid on the higher drop didn't somehow come down on me too. I hit the water in not the greatest of positions, more to my side than feet first so it stung pretty bad. The water was FREEZING cold, too, especially given how hot the air was. As I swam to the edge of the pool, which slowly angled from deep to shallow, I looked up at the 'attendant' kid and he just shrugged his shoulders half-ass, like no big deal. Well, I suppose not for him. But it was for me. I was pretty much done after that. The next kid to come down from the higher drop actually did a belly-flop and when he hit the water the crack sounded like being next to a lightning strike! Everyone around said, 'Oooh!'. After what I had just experienced, I had no doubt that kid was gonna be hurting for a while...

So these stories of horror from there are no surprise to me. I'm just surprised they made 'national' attention, years after it was shut down. It was kinda ironic that the winter before I had hit a patch of ice while skiing and flipped, landing on and breaking my thumb. (I actually went down the mountain three more times after I broke it, until my thumb had swollen up so much I could not longer hold onto my skiing pole. The throbbing pain was getting 'a little' annoying too...lol) Then having this experience that summer...maybe it was a good thing I moved that September...

Nope, not touchin' it...Not because I'm so utterly broke (while still working my ass off M-F, 9-5, WTF is up with that shit?), but I'm also buried in games I haven't gotten to yet! For Krise sakes, I haven't even played Mass Effect TWO yet! Just too many damn games coming out all the time...Then you get hooked on something like Minecraft or some other indie game and then you're even further behind! Yup, I'm complaining about too many games to play, I suppose that should be a good thing...

I'm really holding out for FarCry3, honestly. I think I'm gonna really enjoy it. Those in-engine cinematics are getting really good and realistic nowadays. Not like the BlackOps2 trailer where the old guy looked horrible. I can't believe they used close-ups like that in a trailer, looked really bad...wait, what were we talking about again?

Oh god, don't get me started with the kids in school bullshit! Kids today have ZERO respect for pretty much anything. Even shit they like they mangle and destroy from neglect or stupidity. Who should pay? The parents! When I was a kid, it was 'You broke it, you're parents buy it!'. No gray areas, no 'uh...' no bullshit. They can have a zero policy for stupid shit but then let the kids go for destroying property. Apple, PC, doesn't matter. I realize you guys have it out for the fruit, but damn, the $36,000 comes from somewhere, you know...

The gradient is kinda pretty, but I suspect I'd notice it for a bit and then get used to it, and basically tune it out...

On the one hand, it would be a small deal and make the page (ever so) slightly more modern, but on the other, I'm from the school of "if it ain't broke..." and the retro look the page has is kinda nice...

Having said that, you should come up with some sort of 8-bit design for next April 1st...

Well, given the possible move to the West, I see it as linking the present with the past (the 'new' blue with the original black) and East to West (old style to new style). It's not drastic, just a small change, but it does look a little better, IMO... *shrugs*

Btw, we're now at 3 votes (75%) Blue-to-Black and 1 vote (25%) plain 'new' blue style...

Ok, just for the hell of it, I put up some examples of how I think the front page could be 'spruced up' some. I didn't get permission from Blue to show an altered version of the front page, forgive me. I just wanted to know what everyone thought of the idea...
