The majority of consumers are just like him. the majority of citizens are just like him, and the pursuit of / demand for mediocrity extends way beyond entertainment.

a large glut of beta-test offers they need the free advertising in the buildup to an October-ish release, closed beta slots are primarily given to the gaming press or owners of pro fan sites.

Clearly these are either entrances to: A) a Krell outpost or B) a Morloch cavern
How weird would it be to find million year old graffitti carved on the walls of one of these caves, or maybe bit marks from some gigantic drilling machine.

Another instance such as this is the shrine in the Barrens dedicated to one of their programmers / artists who died during development, which you can only see if you yourself are dead. zow. nice memorial but, kinda eerie.

Even in a game, Corporate Capitalism is a dismal failure and brings out the absolute worst in people. No surprise the player orgs are called Corporations. Art imitates Life.

yeah much of the book doesn't translate easily to the screen - battling mainframe AI's with icebreaker viruses, etc. A cyberpunk jumble of Blade Runner + Tron + The Matrix + Johnny Mnemonic + Max Headroom.

These days the Persian Gulf offers many 1st hand opportunities to pilot or man a patrol boat.
If anyone dares to volunteer.

the source code for Lineage II may have been stolen A virtual William Wallace Award to whoever Set This Knowledge FREE! Fight against that? No, we will run, and we will live.
http://www.videosift.com/video/Braveheart-William-Wallaces-Battle-of-Stirling-Speech
William: Ay, fight and you may die, run and you'll live. At least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our FREEDOM. player bases are not a good way to measure a game's quality No? Then what is? Reviewers? Critics?
Who is the Arbiter of Quality? You? Me? YES! Each player decides for himself what constitutes Quality. And when 8M individuals decide that hey, This Is Good, well...

Aren't there still some flawed orginial Pentium chips out there? ding!grats! Yes there must be truckloads of old processor and memory chips moldering away in satockrooms of surplus stores in North Dakota and elsewhere.
Or how about using the chips that FAIL the full Intel(TM) test? maybe only 1/2 the chip works - so what? that's still 100x more power than is needed to run basic functions slowly.
A dirty little (not so) secret: Retail stores *cough*HomeDepot*cough* are compelled by manufacturers like Toro and Black & Decker and Stihl to throw away perfectly good but cosmetically flawed hardware every day. Everything from fully functioning shop-vacs to chainsaws to drills and other tools are thrown away and not even given the opportunity to be acquired by charities or other worthwhile parties. gimme a laptop sized screen w/ a slightly larger case, with a SIMPLE ability to bookmark, mark and underline passages and download current copies of Fantasy & Science Fiction and Asimov's Science Fiction, and a holder to clip onto a bathroom's toilet paper roll and i'd buy one if it was cheap.
Actually you can make one yourself from an old old 2nd hand laptop bought cheap from one of those junk computer scavenger stores like Halted Specialties http://www.halted.com/ , a treasure trove of ancient and arcance electronic curiosities that time forgot.
