I thought Elite: Dangerous was primarily a single-player game with traditional multiplayer?
Yes that is how it is as far as I know

People are still crazy about DayZ.
Watch Doge seem to be doing pretty well in sales too, hope it won't disappoint.

Asshole! It's MY job to make the Watch Doge references on this site! I'll sue!!

It's funny how he is almost the exact opposite of Chris "Showboat" Roberts who went from a pale, chubby, grizzled nerd in a jumpsuit at the start of the KS to a change-jingling nouveaux riche yuppie in a suit with dyed hair as the millions kept rolling in.
Braben on the other hand has managed to stay grounded with his humble British understatement where actions seem to be much more important than words to him.

I am sure SC won't disappoint either but we will have to wait a lot longer for that game to be ready with all the bells and whistles those guys wants to have in that game.

I just got the Elite newsletter, in case anyone interested, some interesting stuff.

Have they got to the point yet in their development cycle of "Only 1,000 of these ships is available at this time with no future release. You can have one today for $10,000"?

Cause if they haven't, I predict that next.
I thought they did have some "limited edition" ships.

But I think 37% is probably the amount of games I own that I haven't actually played yet. It might even inch closer to 45-50%.

Sigh.
By the time you get to play them they will look and feel so outdated you do not want to play them at all.

Ricochet was part of the Half Life 2 pack years ago.
It came in at least the silver edition.
Oh that explains it

I still can't believe Ricochet outsold Skyrim.
Skyrim was on the top Steam seller list for like a year or more straight. Every single week.

I want to know why they havent shown any Squadron42 gameplay footage yet. A teaser, anything really to justify their 2014 release date (yeah right). My guess is there isnt any, because not a single line of code has been written for Squadron42 so far.
They are busy working on helmet animation instead.
It is like spending a weekend polishing a hub cap on an 1998 Chevy Cavalier meanwhile the engine is falling apart.

They might actually want to make some money off of this.
Obviously, ones the game is finished, aka work has been done not before.
If the game is the best thing evah! By all means make millions, when the game ships, but this "hey you've paid us 42 mill here is a towel" shit is just ridiculus

the entertainment I get from reading the blues new comments section whenever the game is mentioned.
I bet that is the sole reason why Blue posts these crowdfunding "milestones" for SC.
I mean what other game will give you a towel for raising a million $ ?

What they should do now is stop with the feature creep and start developing the main game.
What makes me concerned is that Chris is so much more into making an MMO out of this game as opposed to a great single player game.
Sure MP is fun but I thought this game was going to be an amazing SP experience with MP, but it doesn't look like this is what they have in mind.

I'm in complete agreement. MP open world games tend to be terrible. You might talk about having Organizations dueling for territory to protect lucrative trade routes. Sounds great and exciting in principle. In reality, people have to work or go to school, so things only happen during prime time. Anything an Org works towards can be easily lost when the Euros log in and no one is around to do anything about it.
EVE Online does exactly this.
It can be fun but if I wanted to play an MMO I'd just play that.
I thought Star Citizen was going to be something else not what it is morphing into at the moment.
