The initial previews sound promising.
GMG has a 20% off code - FUSWJT-B1DU64-JBV8UY that makes the game $28.88

So tempted, but I already don't have any time to play anything... Sigh
I am in the same boat.
I am pretty sure you'll be able to buy it at that price later on as well.
Normally games that can be had for cheap before they come out will be the same price after release as well. Maybe even cheaper. GMG has 25%-30% off codes sometimes.

Do you know a FPS game where you can travel through space on a ship, battle and trade?

Battlecruiser 3000AD and the further titles let you do so, if I am remembering correctly.

However, for something newer, Star Citizen is supposed to have these features.

My video review is going up Friday (release day). It will be quite positive.
I am new to Tropico, played 4 for a bit but didn't get into it much. Do you think 5 is any better for new comers to the series or do you think knowledge of the previous games and mechanics is important?
Looking forward to your review by the way

I'd have done it by now, but MrsBlue is resistant. I think for her the scar of losing Hudson is still too painful.
It does take some time to heal, and sometimes people doesn't want another dog because they do not want to go through the same pain again when they loose them.
Most times though people end up with a puppy.

TB mentioned something in his video about the game may be slow to start and may not attract people that did not like Bastion. Is this true? Did any of you that bought the game also have Bastion?
I didn't care for Bastion but Transistor looks interesting, that is why I am asking.

I bought the Premium Beta and I was BLOWN AWAY by the flight model and the overall quality of the dogfights & visuals. I think this was the first time in 5 years that a game really wow'ed me. That x-wing, tie fighter nostalgia was right back...
Broke down and bought the premium beta this past weekend, and your assessment is pretty much spot on. The Alpha 1.1 that we have access to is a ton of fun and I am super pumped to check out the beta which is the up to date build of the game.
I am already shopping for joysticks as my Logitech just doesn't cut it anymore.
Loving that new Saitek X55 HOTAS but my wife is going to kill me if I get that as well. Have to settle for something a little cheaper .... for now

Watched the TB video on this yesterday, it looks pretty cool. I might pick it up on sale. Have more than enough games to play as it is!

Explorable Space Stations? Funny that you want that, as one of the very first mods were to patch that crap out of the game so you don't have to land you can talk to the NPCs from the landing pad.

No Elite doesn't have that but it has just about everything else that X-Rebirth promised to have but failed to deliver on the space economy, and combat side of things.
If you want a true hardcore X game just play X3 as it is still leaps and bounds better than X-Rebirth.

What we lost is any potential for the Kinect to do something useful.

Now, what we can debate is how much potential existed. I'm going with "next to none." I'm guessing most people here think it was actually none, but I think we need to give it the benefit of the doubt and say it shifted from 1,000,000:1 to something more akin to infinity:1.
There was some benefits but not for the Blues News crowd for sure. My kids love to play some Kinect games and it is always fun for them when friends come over.
Problem is the Xbox is not a console for the kids, it is aimed towards the adults, so I am having a hard time justifying the cost when you can get a Nintendo console with similar functionality a shit ton of kids games and the console is much cheaper.

This bullshit spin about losing the kinect being bad for everyone is like the spin they put on taking off the always online drm of the Xbox One console back at E3 2013.
Yep, I remember reading comments how people were pissed Microsoft removed the DRM.
They were like "Microsoft had something new and exciting for us but people had to whine about it and now it is fucked for everyone."
I was like Headscratch

I don't know if they can redeeem themselves in time. Some big space games are coming out soon that will blow this terrible mistake called X-rebirth out of the water.
Such a missed opportunity.
This past weekend I broke down and paid into the Elite Dangerous beta. Been playing the single player portion over the weekend. It is fantastic. Can't wait for the beta to start in 2 weeks.

Are any of those linked reviews trustworthy??
I usually check out TotalBiscuit's videos, and wait for user feedback. Of course this means I will not play any new game for a few days but it's worth saving the $50~$60 if the game sucks. If it is good I wouldn't have much time to play it until the weekend anyways, so I don't loose much by not getting it the day it comes out.
