News Comments > Star Citizen Funding Passes $36M

I've been watching youtube vids of Elite Dangerous and it looks so good. Wish the entry fee would be a bit lower though.
In comparison I am not sure how soon SC will be finished or close to be finished. I am a backer of SC but I have much much higher hopes for Elite.
With the TrackIR arriving today I can't hardly wait to try out these space sim games this year.

The problem is that you can do that already. Build a pc/htpc, get a wireless mouse and keyboard, wireless controller, and still have a fully functional computer. Why use steamOS when its just going to take away options rather then add?
I do not think we see all the functionality the Steam OS is capable of, and obviously they will need some exclusive features to sell them.
I did not look at all the features and what is implemented and what isn't but I personally want the stream feature so bad.
Why build 2 gaming PCs if I can just stream the stuff from my main rig.

I've looked into some small form factor living room PCs from Alienware for example but they were way way too expensive.

This is just my opinion, but plugging a controller into my pc turns my pc into a console. That's what I personally despise: the controller/gamepad. And now even Steam is luring pc gamers into controller usage. No. Keyboard and mouse or bust. Again: this is just my opinion.
The idea is to use these Steam Machines in your living room like they were consoles and access your Steam games, while sitting on the sofa playing on your big screen TV.
Not to replace your gaming PC that has all your peripherals connected.
I don't think you can play every PC game with a controller anyways, and I don't believe the intent with these machines is to phase out the traditional PCs and control methods and replace them with a console like controller.
It is more like having access to your games on as many screens in your home as possible.

I personally think this is awesome. I'd love to sit back on the couch with my kids and play my PC games vs cuddle up in front of my monitor in the office, but that's just me.

Today at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, PC manufacturer Digital Storm announced its own hybrid Steam Machine called the "Bolt II." Most notably, the small-form-factor (SFF) PC allows you to dual-boot both Windows and Steam OS.

Pricing for the Bolt II begins at $1,899, GameSpot sister site ZDnet reports. However, a second model featuring a Core i7-4770K Haswell processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics card, 16GB of RAM, 120GB SSD, and a 1TB hard drive will go for $2,584.
that's a lot of cash , wonder how well is that going to sell

Here's hoping they will go back to the roots and make Dirt4 a rally game as opposed to a Ken Block fueled car acrobatic game.

I still wouldn't pay full price for the same game. I don't care how much re modelling they've done.
The original game looked good enough and all the bells and whistles they can add will not be noticable after about an hour of gameplay anyways.
Graphical enhancements shouldn't be the main selling point of any game imo.

This announcement only supports the widespread assumption that the "Definitive Edition" is quite simply the PC version of the game brought to a generation of consoles that can handle the "spiffier graphics". There really isn't anything to get worked up about here.
My thoughts exactly.

Yeah but it is really rewarding. It is a ton of fun to beat the Ai however the Ai is tough.
Even on easy it kicks my butt most times.
Those missions were really designed to coop play imo. Just way too much micro management for a single player.

I was given all the MoW games as a gift a few years ago and I really tried to get into the first one but I found the game to be too difficult. I'll try playing again, eventually.
It is a ton of micro management, and multitasking.

Going to place my order for TrackIR5 this weekend. My rising number of flight sims, racing sims, Arma3, upcoming Elite and Star Citizen (hopefully both will have support), and finally Eurotruck2 have pushed me into it.
Yep same here. Lots of games supporting it now and I've been meaning to pick one up for a long time.
Elite is going to be kick ass with it, but for now Arma and Eurotruck will keep me entertained. There are other games I own like F1 that also supports it, and I fully expect every new racing games to support it as well.
Looking forward to play around with it next week.

So let me get this straight....it is now past 1300, so you can no longer buy or sell the globes - but they were down for how many hours? And now you can't do anything with them, and they are probably going to yank all of them? wow. Classy!
Yeah that does suck.
I was expecting Steam to at least expand the sale a few hours due to the issues they've had.
Instead they just ignored it like it never happened.

Not to mention this basically pisses off people who uses these services. If hackers want to make a point of hating on a company why fuck the users up?

Just pulled the trigger on a TrackIR5

This eye tracking sounds interesting but I wonder how well this will work for people with glasses for example. Same concern I have for the Rift also.

Just sell it on the market and buy the one your are missing.
Those cards will disappear from your account tomorrow

Uhhm, why would they disappear from his account? The Summer Sale cards are still available on the Market, which means they are still in peoples inventories.

It is different this time, read the Steam page
