Watched the TB video on this yesterday, it looks pretty cool. I might pick it up on sale. Have more than enough games to play as it is!

Explorable Space Stations? Funny that you want that, as one of the very first mods were to patch that crap out of the game so you don't have to land you can talk to the NPCs from the landing pad.

No Elite doesn't have that but it has just about everything else that X-Rebirth promised to have but failed to deliver on the space economy, and combat side of things.
If you want a true hardcore X game just play X3 as it is still leaps and bounds better than X-Rebirth.

What we lost is any potential for the Kinect to do something useful.

Now, what we can debate is how much potential existed. I'm going with "next to none." I'm guessing most people here think it was actually none, but I think we need to give it the benefit of the doubt and say it shifted from 1,000,000:1 to something more akin to infinity:1.
There was some benefits but not for the Blues News crowd for sure. My kids love to play some Kinect games and it is always fun for them when friends come over.
Problem is the Xbox is not a console for the kids, it is aimed towards the adults, so I am having a hard time justifying the cost when you can get a Nintendo console with similar functionality a shit ton of kids games and the console is much cheaper.

This bullshit spin about losing the kinect being bad for everyone is like the spin they put on taking off the always online drm of the Xbox One console back at E3 2013.
Yep, I remember reading comments how people were pissed Microsoft removed the DRM.
They were like "Microsoft had something new and exciting for us but people had to whine about it and now it is fucked for everyone."
I was like Headscratch

I don't know if they can redeeem themselves in time. Some big space games are coming out soon that will blow this terrible mistake called X-rebirth out of the water.
Such a missed opportunity.
This past weekend I broke down and paid into the Elite Dangerous beta. Been playing the single player portion over the weekend. It is fantastic. Can't wait for the beta to start in 2 weeks.

Speaking of which here it is.
Yeah I've posted it in the other thread but Blue has it in the list above so I didn't bother.

Are any of those linked reviews trustworthy??
I usually check out TotalBiscuit's videos, and wait for user feedback. Of course this means I will not play any new game for a few days but it's worth saving the $50~$60 if the game sucks. If it is good I wouldn't have much time to play it until the weekend anyways, so I don't loose much by not getting it the day it comes out.

Pfft to SC. And Dave can suck 150% of my balls at that price.
Now one thing to note about that price is that $150 gets you the premium beta phase which starts in 2 weeks. You get immediate access to the single player portion.
You get the full game of course $50 and all the expansion packs $50
So if you were planning to get the game and DLC you are paying $50 more for the premium beta access, which isn't so bad.
Best thing to do though is just wait for the final game. It already looks amazingly good and polished.

I'm not in love with the Star Citizen thread craziness, but... back at the end of April Tumbler mentioned that the SC DFM was supposed to have a limited release in the second week of May (this week). So, did that happen?
Not yet, the devs are too busy playing Elite

And how would you do GUI elements in a racing game (position, time, map?) You can't just make them floating pieces in the car, it must be.. sort of like a helmet projection style 3D GUI that space sims use...
That is going to be an issue for every game not just racing.
VR will definitely need some tweaking to make it work and look right. They just have to hurry up and release the consumer version already so devs can start making games for it.

I don't see why would racing games make you more sick than flight sims or space dogfight games.
If VR makes someone sick I don't think it matters much what game they play.

Oh okay, yeah I think AC and Project CARS will have Rift support, I am not aware of any other racing game right now that supports VR.
To be fair though the Rift is not available for the public yet so no surprise there is not too many "finished" game supports it.
