News Comments > Elite Dangerous Premium Beta

Feedback can go both ways. Unless the beta is free so everyone has a chance to test it you never know what sort of feedback the backers will provide.
Even with free betas the game can turn out to be a cluster fuck.

From what I've seen so far Elite already looks worthy of my $ when it hits retail. With that said I am sure they will add many things and polish the game up really well between now and release.

By the way the premium beta also comes with all the future DLC. The regular beta isn't.

Speaking of numbers, what happened with Titanfall's? Awful quiet over there for "biggest game of the year"...

I am sure they will post the numbers now that the 360 version is out. They are probably embarrased to show the Xbone numbers.

Awesome, very much looking forward to this. Speakin of space sims, when is StarCitizen suppose to release that Christmas delayed dogfight demo?
They are too busy figuring out the next stretch goals to bother working on that dogfight module.

These guys are MOVING.

I'm a bit confused how you're ready to go to Beta, though, but are still planning on having an Alpha... Must be some crazy British thing
I think they are going to add stuff to the Alpha, and when those are tested by Alpha backers they can move them to the Beta build.
Kind of how Red Orchestra had a beta build after the retail release. They've kept updating the beta to test out stuff before they've patched those into the retail build.
Smart idea imo. Not 100% sure why it is necessary for a game that is in Alpha/Beta though.

I am hearing a lot of pissed of costumers that bought into the Forza 5 cash grab.
I am glad I am not one of them. They went way overboard with the DLC.

I've loved Forza back in the day, but I rather support other games like Asseto Corsa with my money these days.

Same here.
I can't pay that kind of money for a game even if it looks so awesome as this one.
At least they seem to be on target for the retail release this year.

Not to mention, at best, you're up scaling a 2K image.

Yeah it will be a while before we see native 4k movies, by that time the 4k TVs will come down in price also.
If the 4k trend catches on. If not, 4k will be the new 3D

The cool thing is that for games you buy on Steam that require Uplay, it doesn't matter which service you launch the game from, it will also launch the other service. Twice the waiting, twice the updates, twice the fun!

The new Might and Magic is the only UPlay game I have that's on steam, and steam updates it, then when I launch it, UPlay shows up, in the background... And there's no noticeable delay... I actually didn't know UPlay was there until I exited the game.

No I wouldn't do anything silly like that if the game is good.
Uplay never bothered me. Sure it would be nice if it wasn't required but if a game is good Uplay isn't going to stop me from buying it.

Does anyone play this game? I've watched some youtube vids last night and it looks so very rigid. I was expecting a game like MoW or CoH.
I've never played any previous games in this series though, so didn't know what to expect.

Wish they've had a demo available.

I'd try that Bus sim if it was something reasonable like $5. $30? Smoke some more crack.
My thoughts exactly.
As for driving ETS2 with mouse and keyboard, yeah that is not easy.
You need at least a 360 controller or a steering wheel for that game.

I've picked ETS2 up for $10 or so a while back and put about 16 hrs into it so far. Way more time than I play a lot more expensive games I own.

Because they don't want to pay a thousand full-time workers to go around changing out the dead 360s? I don't know.
As long as they keep those in an enclosed glass box with no air circulation at all, they should be alright

Doesn't Nvidia lists these performance increases with every single driver update?
I always wonder why they do not share more details on those performance increase claims.
What OS, CPU, video card combo, what resolution, details settings etc.

On GMG in the product description it says the game requires Uplay.
I very much doubt Steam is selling a different version that doesn't require it.

I am looking forward to this game and will grab it after release if the player feedback is positive.

Wind simulation... that's... a first in gaming.. looks pretty neat. Let's hope it's a good game.

Flight simulators have a certain amount of wind modeled on occasion. It's usually a fairly simple and uniform effect, at least from what I've seen.
I wonder if that tech is going to have any sort of use in the game or it will just be and extra layer of eye candy.
