News Comments > Aliens: Colonial Marines Season Pass and Bug Hunt DLC Announced
27. Re: Aliens: Colonial Marines Season Pass and Bug Hunt DLC Announced Feb 8, 2013, 15:01 SpectralMeat

What I don't get is what's this bickering is really good for?
What if some people doesn't like the games I like? I couldn't care less.

Regarding Aliens: Colonial Marines, I did not see a single reason to get this game, but if someone is a fan of the franchise or had a chance to play the preview and really liked it, by all means buy it and enjoy it. Won't change a thing for me one way or another.

If after the game is out and I will hear a lot of positive feedback from people playing it I will take another look, but until then, best of luck for them with the release.

News Comments > SimCity Closed Beta 2 Next Weekend
9. Re: SimCity Closed Beta 2 Next Weekend Feb 8, 2013, 12:29 SpectralMeat

I did play the previous beta Beamer, and I did like it.
It is much more stream lined then the previous SimCity game was but it still have some depth to it, from what I could play anyways. A lot of stuff was blocked, disabled in the beta and there was a 60 minutes gameplay limit so whatever you could achieve in 60 minutes type of deal.

Overall I liked it and will most likely buy it when it comes out.

I thought this guy did a pretty good job at previewing the beta: http://tinyurl.com/by8wz9s

Is it also too much to hope for that it's heavier on the puzzles than the combat? That's one of the things that has never made me able to fully appreciate Uncharted. Just ludicrous amounts of badguys everywhere.
I thought the combat mechanics in Uncharted was pretty awesome actually. I've enjoyed that more then the puzzles

Pushing DLC before the game has even been released is a BS move IMO, and is an immediate turn-off.
Same way I feel about this. DLC should never be a selling point for any games, especially not before release.

"Sony drops Kevin Butler ad agency."

That's not a smart move. I thought Kevin did an awesome job, always found his ads entertaining. Then when he walked on stage at E3 I believe it was with a beer in his hand and gave that speech, it was priceless.

And yeah looking at the article it seems like they're trying to stop all second hand sales, haha wow. I hope for their sake that's not true.
Why?
It never stopped PC gamers to shop on Steam.
I am pretty sure Microsoft and Sony both looking at Steam and thinking this is it.

I am not saying this will work for console games, but we will see.

What are you using for mail? I'd love to kick office to curb (at least at home), but I really like Outlook, and have yet to find something I like to replace it...

I am using Thunderbird at work, and webmail at home for about 4 years now.
Did you try the regular outlook at home that is not part of office? I've heard some people like that.

I read that MS is pushing for a 12-18 month upgrade cycle for Windows along with a subscription model similar to the new Office 2013
Good luck with that.
Last I've heard their Office package isn't exactly a hot seller anymore. New OS every year is just silly talk.
I've switched to Open Office about a year ago, never looked back. Since then most of my office staff converted over to Open Office also.
No gimmick basic Office software, it works and the price is right.

After I've watched that kickstarter video Demigod came to mind right away. It is like Chris lost his way after Supreme Commander 1. Too bad, best of luck to them.

It's also good for racing and flight sim games. If you do not want to drag out the wheel/pedal setup or the joystick for the flight games.

Steam sale isn't very strong lately. There were a few good deals but for the most part Amazon and greenmangaming is kicking Steam's ass.

I really don't think this is as big a deal as you guys are making it out to be.
Here is one example (Ubisoft not EA) why always online DRM such a great idea for single player games: http://tinyurl.com/c3fod6q
You may think people on Blues over reacting but I think for a good reason.

If one has all these concerns, then don't buy it.

I'm pretty sure a lot of us won't be - those who have an issue with the always on component, anyway. But that doesn't mean we aren't disappointed. I enjoyed the previous Sim City's, and would have enjoyed seeing a new iteration. So it's disappointing, if nothing else.
+1
The least we can do is bitch about it because I am sure as heck disappointed in the way EA took this game.
With that said Thanks to djlith to show me that extension for SimCity4 now the game runs in full 1080p, and it is like a new game!
If he was EA I would of have to pay $59.99 for that extension!

Picked it up and regret it already.
Graphics look like crap, game plays like it is on rails, one quick time movie after another, mouse controls are weird. Sigh
Oh well, at least I did not pay full price for it. I should have tried the "demo" first

Probably that I am eiher mentally retarded or I am using it as a form of therapy trying to cure my terrible depression by continued exposure to unbearable cuteness.
I was thinking more along the lines of with the sudden spike in sales and sheer amount of hours spent playing this game, I think it is safe to say we will see a sequel!

EndWar looks good, but I am not a big fan of voice command games. First of all I usually play games when everyone in the house is asleep, second of all with my accent the poor game wouldn't have a freaking clue what I am trying to say.
I never bothered to look into it if EndWar has any other control methods or voice is the only option. There are plenty of strategy games out there that keep me entertained anyways.
For example I just recently found out I can add my Supreme Commander retail cd key to Steam and it activates and also adds Forged Alliance for free. Now there is a new reason to play it !

So with that said, anyone know what the best games in the series were?
$2.50 per game on most of them right now.
I thought the Advanced Warfighter ones were pretty decent games.
For $2.50 a pop might as well get them all. At least for me those were decent modern military shooters back in the day. Before CoD took over the genre.
I think Desert Eagle and Island Thunder are also pretty good, but they are ancient games.
I am thinking about grabbing Future Soldier for $15.
