Minimum requirements are dual core whereas recommended are quad core, and they also have 6GB and 64 bit in recommended, so I'd guess it'll be okay.

Currently available on GMG with a 20% coupon: KNQFY9-4UP2WZ-VNNQ7Z

Awesome thanks for the clarification and for the code!

The unity engine concerns me a little bit though. Everything runs on a single core

Is that confirmed for Skylines? Unity has been working on going multi-core, as per this thread from Nov 2013.
Not sure about that one. This was brought up in the Interstellar Marines thread here

My understanding is Unity5 which isn't released yet will have multi thread and 64bit capabilities. Unless I totally misunderstood something.

The Cities Skyline devs said they are using the same unity engine they've used for Cities in Motion 2.
If that game ran fine I guess this will be too?

I think, for me at least, what I would like is for the game world to me more reactive. Not to me necessarily, but even to itself. If there is a civil war going on in the system, I'd like to see signs of it outside my cockpit window. If there is a NPC pirate in a system, I'd like him to have some reason he's actually a pirate and not just a random, repeated spawn. He's got a mission of his own, from a pirate base in some far off anarchy system. If a group of players kill 1000 ships at a nav beacon, shouldn't something happen in that system? Like less wanted ships show up, markets be effected. Something, anything?

I've been reading on how the guys that are trying to build Ultima Ascension are attempting to do to their game world. It has it's own heartbeat beyond just you. Well, if they pull it off. I'm hoping Elite finds that style because it's missing for me. A living, breathing galaxy that is full of interesting sights, sounds and events.

Oh, been gaming since the 70's. I despise ADD game play. Elite is lacking elsewhere for me.
I agree with you on all points. That would be great for sure.
That is something EVE has over Elite you can actually see those things and see the battles at the jump gates when corps are fighting.
I do hope they will do something in similar fashion in Elite because that was sort of their goal to create a living Universe.

With that said I am still enjoying the heck out of the game as it is, and looking forward to see the new content in the future.

It looks pretty boring to be honest. A cover shooter loaded with QTEs and scripted sequences. Meh.

You know the committee that designed it spent roughly 10 minutes checking off boxes before they called it "done" and went to lunch.
That's how you design AAA titles these days.

I should put one onto my Asp. I have the docking computer installed but I have it disabled because I was sitting outside a station for minutes waiting for the docking computer to dock me as I was in line.
I just disabled it squeeze by another ship and docked manually lol
A fuel scoop would be much more beneficial

Kind of like EVE Online. What's the point of doing missions, doing trades and increase the credit in your bank account?
Buying bigger ships better equipment etc.
Gaining reputation with certain factions will allow you to buy their ships or gain entry to systems you otherwise can not go to.

Elite is the Euro Truck Simulator of the space sim games. You look at it and say pff this shit is boring as fuck, but when you play it somehow it entertains and relax you.
At least that is the way I feel about the game, and I don't sit there looking at it like gee I wish there was more asteroid belts or more things to do.

Looks like a better Sim City to me
Yep for sure, as long as they don't make the same limitations and mistakes SimCity did.
I just found it interesting how the game looks so much like SC

I did play Freelancer, actually I've just played it before Elite came out.
I agree those things sounds great, but Elite isn't like that and tbh I don't think it will ever be like that.
They've basically re made the old Elite game with todays tech.
For me personally Elite is a great and I enjoy it quiet a bit, but like I said I understand it is not for everyone.

I think Star Citizen will be more in line with what you are looking for in a space game but that is who knows how far off of being released.

So the real question is, is the game any fun?
Yes it is

I haven't played it, but I've been following it very closely and my conclusion right now is that it's just a huge empty space that you'll get bored of quick.
Well if you are looking for a story driven gameplay you won't find it here.
Think of it like a city builder game. They give you the tools and the World and you go make your own story.
I am not bored of it and I play it since the beta. It's not for everyone for sure, but if you did like the original Elite games you'll love this one.

I am playing online now by the way.
I got interdicted quiet a bit last night by Ai. Not sure if they've changed something in the Ai behaviour or I was just lucky like that

I played the second one, AirLand Battle. It is an excellent RTS but it's not something to dip in and out of for a quick game. It is deep and complicated and the sheer number of units takes time to learn.
yeah it's all about knowing the units and their capabilities and counter what the enemy brings.
It's fun when it all works out but most times it just ends up being frustrating.

Basically whatever they promise you to deliver can change on the fly.
So you may kickstart a new revolutionary vacuum cleaner and then at the end of the successful kickstarter campaign you will receive a dust pan.

I am very close to pull the trigger on this one however I have spent some time tonight to watch some of the dev gameplays on youtube and can't shake the feeling of this game looks an awful lot like Simcity 2014
Even the way the menus look and the different zoning colors everything is just like simcity.
The game is using the unity game engine so no multicore support. Game might run like a dog with bigger cities.

Thanks Vall but no worries dude I am not too bad in combat either and I can cover my own repair costs

Holy shit they did fix the travelling though.
I am doing the 11 stop rare trade run. Before the patch it literally took me 2 full night to get around. Now it takes no time at all.
To cover 91Ly it takes 7 jumps. Before the patch it was like 25 jumps.
Very happy to see that.
Oh and the "fastest route" ticker stays on now you don't have to click it every single time
