Did you know you can target sub-systems in an enemy ship?
Yep I know I was just too lazy to assign a button on my HOTAS for subsystem targeting.
Yeah that Python was a piece of cake. I've been killing Asps and Pythons in my Cobra and the Elite Pythons can get me down to 20%~30% hull before they pop.
Those are definitely a lot of pain to deal with.

I'll have to change my config up a bit on my HOTAS and start taking out their sub systems. For smaller ships it doesn't matter but Pythons and Anacondas can make you sweat if you get a good pilot.

I've checked out the beta but seeing as you start from scratch with a Sidewinder I decided to ditch it and just play the main game for now. The update will be live for everyone next week anyways.

Maybe I am alone with that opinion but I enjoy the shit out of Elite.
It's not for everyone I agree, but I love it. I don't remember the last game I was so lost in, hours go by before I notice it.

It can definitely be better and the devs can add more content and they will, but I like the game already so I am excited for what the future holds for it.

The combat is definitely the highlight at the moment, this was me last night doing a trade run in my Asp, approaching the station when I got interdicted by a Python: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPq7pnbIv-Y

By the way killing pirates at a nav point may not make a huge difference in the pirate infestation but it will make a difference in your combat rank as well as your standing towards the faction controls the system. I am currently Allied with the Federation I will have to work on my Empire standings a bit.
If it gets boring waiting for the re spawn at the nav point visit the Asteroid belts or the combat zones for more action
You can also enter into super cruise and immediately turn around and the nav point will be reset.

Maybe. I won't be preordering that one either.
I'll watch some lets plays but based on the reviews on Steam so far this game does suck, and it's pretty much identical to the previous ones, except the title has an extra X in it.

From reviews, this is the same as the last CitiesXL, they didn't even fix the fact the game runs only on one core. Apparently this is a big avoid.
Good to know. Thanks

I am the same way.
When in dogfight I tend to focus on keeping the guns powered and the engine so I can run after the enemy if they try to run.
The weapons are most important so every chance I get I can do as much damage as possible.
If I am running away than yeah pips in system and engine none in weapons obviously. However that doesn't happen very often

Same here.
I will wait and see some of the reviews/lets plays but based on previous games from this series I don't have high hopes for this one.

Wonder if they've ever fixed the performance issues the previous games had. Ones the city gets big it runs like a dog.

Running with no pips in systems? That's pretty confident, makes for thin shields.
Didn't seem to need it for this Python.
I have to upgrade the ship still, so I've had to put all the juices to the weapons to take the python down as soon as possible.
I also can't strafe very well as the stock thrusters suck.
So yeah long way from perfect, but I do love the firepower 6 guns pack.

Okay, I admit I wasn't following along. I got that shadowplay was some kind of recording setup but other than that I seem to have missed it?
It's part of the Nvidia drivers.
It basically runs in the background and always records. If you want to save the clip it records you just hit Alt+F10 and it saves the last 10 minutes of recording. You can change the length in the settings to more or less and also the quality it records in, microphone input etc.

The best part is it doesn't hit your performance like Fraps does because it is all hardware not software.
Nvidia uses a chip on the video card to record so basically 0 performance hit.
I have it running all the time so I can save precious moments like this : http://youtu.be/pPq7pnbIv-Y

I love the Asp. With 6 guns that ship eats everything in front of it. I can't wait to have it all upgraded. I only put some basic guns on it and a better FSD everything else is pretty much stock!

Shadowplay is AMAZING! I don't know how it works, but it really is awesome. It even records music you have playing! Thanks so much for the tips, Mr. Meat.

Right, never mind reading the thread. The last few posts are good enough

Oh I've read it.
than I don't get your comments
I was well aware of the beta being available since 2013 Dec I even said on the previous page that I did not see any huge leap forward in the beta since it's release.

Anyways!
Hopefully Valve can pull it off.

Yes. It's available to download for anyone that can do a google search.

Right right available to download the beta version.
By available I meant it is finished. Thought it was obvious but it seems like it wasn't for everyone.
