That should turn around rather quickly, with games like Star Citizen and Elite those new joysticks are flying off the shelves.
Their new X-55 is a big hit, pretty much sold out everywhere as soon as anyone got stock. Including EU distributors.

Good to hear. Thanks Meat. However I do notice that station still has that stupid rectangular opening.
Oh yes that is the iconic docking opening.
Tbh if you are flying a smaller ship like the Sidewinder or Cobra it is not a big deal but with bigger ships like the Lakon Type 9 or the Anaconda it will take some getting used to. Not to mention the cargo you will spill if you smoke your ship on entry or exit the station.
One other thing they've done is you carry chemicals or explosives the small hit to the ship can cause it to explode so those will be extra expensive to carry and trade.

There are just so many things going on for this game I could sit here talk about it for days.
The future looks even more exciting. Planetary landing is one of those things I am really looking forward to.

Edit: here is a size comparison between the ships that are currently in the beta, there will be 20 different ships when the game comes out
From left to right:
Anaconda, Lakon Type 9, Cobra Mk. III, Eagle Mk. II, Sidewinder Mk. I, F63 Condor, navigation beacon, standard canister.

There will be docking computers (not available for us yet) that will help you with docking bigger ships.
Dock an Anaconda is quiet a challenge.

As for advantage, well the Alpha players have advantage over us beta players.
It's the way the cookie crumbles. Same goes for Star Citizen or any games that are released early.
However this game you can play in single player and you can safely ignore the MP all together if you wish.
Not sure I can say the same about SC

Yes NPCs. These areas are for new players to "grind" for cash to have some money to upgrade the ship, buy a new one or invest into some products to trade.
There are areas in the game where players hang out for PVP.

Speaking of interdiction, finally last night I've decided to play some MP as I've played all the single player scenarios and I am pretty good at controlling my ship now.

Jumped into MP spawned at the space station, selected one of the hunting grounds from the list of places to go to and off I went into super cruise. In the middle of nowhere a pirate pulled me out of super cruise and started scanning my cargo. I got pissed and opened fire at him. He was in a Cobra I was in my starter Sidewinder with a single pulse laser. Almost killed him and he ran away with 5% hull left.
Back into super cruise headed for the hunting ground ones again, then I am getting pulled out of SC again. Same fucker.

This went on for 2 more times however the last time he brought friends, one of the pirates was in a Lakon 9 heavy ship. As soon as I saw that I put all power to the engines and boosted away while flipped on charge the hyper drives so I can enter super cruise and gtfo.
Just as they opened fire on me I entered super cruise.
It was pretty exciting!

Finally made it to the hunting grounds and racked up some kills, flying with other players around. Everyone was super nice, not stealing each others kills and stuff. It was surprisingly enjoyable.
Nothing quiet like you and 5 other players shooting the shit out of a pirate Anaconda.
Made enough money to upgrade my guns but I didn't feel like flying back to a station to buy them as I was having too much fun killing pirates.
Maybe I'll do the trip tonight.

Can he do it again? Time and again we've seen legendary game developers from the nostalgic past attempt to achieve greatness one more time. We want them to succeed, sometimes ever so desperately. But usually they fail spectacularly, a la Richard Garriott. It's incredibly hard to achieve greatness and then do it again.

Anyway, since Elite: Dangerous is also attempting to be a great space sim, and it's pretty much the only other game in town at this point (LT doesn't really have the same aim and isn't playable yet anyway), the comparisons are inevitable. As I said before, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with both games. They both have tremendous potential, which is awesome after the utter drought of space sims we've endured.

You get 14 ships with that, 7 of those costs $750. The other 7 are not available to buy/view so no idea on pricing but apparently they'll be pretty expensive

7 ships that are currently available to buy for everyone would cost $750. The other 7 ships must be super expensive, or "a day with Chris Roberts" costs so much I am not sure, but 15 grand for that package is pretty insane imo
