August is not that far. I'll probably get this game when it is finished. I liked the gameplay videos I've seen

USTS?

As for Grid yeah it looks promising on paper but I'll see ones the game is out how it is.
From all the preview vids I've seen the Ai is pretty terrible. I know the preview build is not final but still it should be somewhat decent at least.

Yeah that's usually the way most joystick threads ends up.
You guys should get a kick out of some of those threads on the Elite forums when guys start talking about lubing and farting noises. Rotfl

If any of you guys are thinking of ordering that HOTAS nin linked from amazon, do not buy it yet as that price is not the amazon price.
The normal price is $40 or $35 something along those lines.
The price that shows on amazon is a different seller not amazon.

One other thing I did not mention to nin is that with that Thrustmaster HOTAS you will not have enough buttons to control everything in Elite. There are just a shit ton of stuff to control from weapon systems to power distribution, targeting, landing gears, cargo scoops etc etc.
I've read people on the Elite boards are using voice attack to map the functions that they can not onto the controller.

I believe it is a twist stick, so rudder control is pretty natural.
I was thinking about getting the CH stick and throttle combo, I've heard they are top notch quality but the lack of twist stick made me change my mind.

I was wondering why you haven't said anything about Elite.
New update coming out on the 24th next Tuesday, new systems a new cargo ship and new station type.
All the details in the newsletter
Also you can take 4k screenshots even if your screen rez is set to 1080p.
Those 4k screenies look awesome in the newsletter.

Yeah how hard is it to launch a DLC without issues?

For EA? Holy shit, it's apparently like coming up with the Grand Unification theory for them. I don't think ANY of the DLC released for either Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect 2 or Mass Effect 3 worked right out of the gate.
I don't play many EA games so I didn't know. Oh well.
Good luck to the poor folks that dished out the $60 for the preorder I guess.

It sounds like they feel that, for the first time, they're actually not gimping anything.

Didn't the head of Ubisoft said the same thing about Watch Dogs?
PC is the lead platform etc etc.
Same shit different game

EA's reasoning aside, it's cool to be able to try out games for free, and I applaud the initiative.

Of course, with only 48 hours of it being free, I couldn't even get it downloaded in time on account of the insane size of their sound files.
It would be much nicer if they would do the Sony Playstation Plus version of game trials and let you play for a few hours whenever you want to play and the few hours were actual gameplay hours.

PCMR tears are so tasty!

I play most my games/spend most my time on PC, plenty of unique experiences there yet to turn up in a cheap, wireless couch based environment. But I find it hard to sell as a superior experience to people who just want to sit down and relax for a few hours a night.

And the fact is, PC-only games are for the most part uglier, buggier and less ambitious than most iterations of Ubisoft Game(TM). These new space sims may change that. Sure, Metro or Bioshock Infinite looks gorgeous on your $400+ GPU, but it's the same game, plenty of fun, looks fine and runs well on a 200 dollar 360 as well.

If you are allergic to 30 FPS/shitty PoV then thats sad. I can still lose myself in the chunky VGA glory of OG X-com, Doom or Tie Fighter. Gameplay is king.*

I'm not going to argue that a Ferrari isn't a superior experience to catching the bus, but it's a bit excessive to label those not on that level sub-human retards, which is the vibe I'm getting from certain parts of the internet these days. So funny watching people at once play the victim card and the superior human being card all at once.

*Yes, for Chivalry or racing games or whatever the people who used to play Quake play now you need the frames for the gameplay to work.

Not sure if you are serious or just trolling.
Nahh you can't be serious

So as a console player you’re already getting by far the best version we can ship.
Sweet.
That killed my slightest of interest in this game.
Their E3 video made me sick anyways with that FOV 55 setting.

I think more and more people are tired of the BS and finally voting with their wallet.

Still not enough, hope Hardline sales will tank, but in reality that game will probably sell like hot cakes because it says Battlefield in the title

Bullshit. Bf3 had a shit launch, bf4 was worse, and hardline is a glorifyed mod that come across as a low end mod that even with 3 years and the base bf4 still has tons of issues.
and because it is just a mod if the launch will be any better than BF4 was they can brag about it and say see gamers we've listened to you and learned from our mistakes
Yeah how hard is it to launch a DLC without issues?

They are playing catch up with Steam.
It's okay I guess. I doubt I will buy Titanfall anyways. Not into these twitch shooters anymore.

i think any real space sim nut knows scott manley, that delightful scottish space junkie. some of the stuff he does in KSP makes the rest of us look like monkeys playing with heavy construction equipment.
Yep I started watching his "tutorial" videos for Kerbal and the basic ones were fine but the more advance ones just go way over my head.
Some of the newer Kerbal videos he does I have no clue wtf he is doing but it looks cool.
He recently started playing Freelance and it made me reinstall my copy and play it again.
Some good memories
