My 12 year old niece knows what Half-Life is, and I didn't tell her about it. She came over a couple of weeks ago and asked me if I had Half-Life because she wanted to play it. I have my old gaming system set up for her to play games on with her own Steam account and family sharing. I asked her how she knew about Half-Life and she said some kids at school were talking about it.

lol

ok man, whatever you say
Why wouldn't one of the best known shooters be known to younger audiences? If nothing else they'll know about it from Counterstrike, which is still one of the most popular multiplayer games going.

People complaining about too much post-release support, there's a new one.

Sounds like the expansion will be more along the lines of the Silverwastes too, so it should be fun. Good to see these camera changes too, been a long time coming.

These comments are hilarious. We've got someone claiming Polygon said something they didn't, and someone else saying Sarkeesian made a video that doesn't seem to exist. And you're the people accusing Sarkeesian and Wu of lying??

Maybe Wardell missed out a 0 in his tweet and it was actually 10fps drop.

Interesting that the petition is aimed at Kotaku and Polygon and not NBC. And certainly not the gamers that continue to abuse and threaten people.

Someone call Tom Hall and let him know about this. The sequel must be made.

Is Tom ok? Last I heard he had a heart attack. Would love to see him make Ananchronox 2.

Actually it was a stroke, but as far as I know he's made a complete recovery.

I hope the recovery is accurate. I also hope he manages to somehow become involved in whatever might happen with Anachronox. I mean, he was the mo-cap model for Boots' dancing after all (on top of everything else). The world needs more of that. As well as finishing that conversation with Grumpos.
He seems fine nowadays. He did series of interviews about his past work late last year. The Anachronox one is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ihevmtErGM

A few years ago he said that if he doesn't get a chance to make an Anachronox sequel within a certain period of time, he'd post the synopsis etc on his website so people can at least see how it would have ended. This Square Enix thing might be the last chance. I know a bunch of the Anachronox team are still close, so if the stars align and they could regroup...

But he's also tried two Kickstarters (for other games) and neither were funded, so who knows if he can be bothered going through it again. Plus he's working as a designer at PlayFirst, so he might not be able to drop everything for this.

I've backed 9 games on KS and 6 have now been released, with another one out next month. You just need to back projects that seem legit instead of throwing your money at any old shit.

Well, I'm not sure this is what Gabe wanted when he stood up for this game, but there's no turning back now that it's rated AO. I would expect there to be more to follow, since the precedent has been set.
Would be pretty funny if there's pressure to sell some of those "erotic" soft porn games now.

Maybe, but this is where those user review scores are useful. The Steam user reviews are usually a good guide.

The reality of kickstarter projects is that you never know what you are going to get until the game is finished.
People invest into these projects should be well aware they are basically gamble with their money.
Planetary Annihilation was my learning lesson in that regards.
Yeah you have to be prepared to get nothing in the end. One of the projects I backed (Unwritten) was cancelled because the guy faced some awful personal issues with his family's health, but so be it. The way I think of it, I'm backing things I want to get made, I'm not buying a game. There are few projects I'd put more than $20 on.

Alien invasions were de rigueur when the perceived enemy was an outsider (e.g. communist Russia). Zombies are more suitable now due to fear of enemies within (e.g. terrorism).

Don't go looking for "conspiracy" when "bad critics" gives all the explanation you need.

Especially because humanism is the opposite of feminism.

Which youtube video did you get that from.

You know, instead of quoting the first sentence, you could have read the 2nd one (Where I quoted WIKI for specific reason) and realized I just explained to you that humanism is against ideological thinking. And believe it or not, feminism is an ideology. Worse, it is an ideology that is now (3rd gen) mostly against men. Even if you could support feminism before, the kind of feminism a Zoe Quinn propagates you could never support as an humanist.

Also since you didn't ask a question I am just gonna ignore that sentence
Dude. Humanism is an ideology.

Dude. An ideology is a set of conscious and/or unconscious ideas which constitute one's goals, expectations, and actions.
Yes? Are you under the impression that humanism is not a set of ideas established by human beings? Do you think it's some natural state of being removed from human beliefs and values?
