MS hosts servers for voice comunication support in the games, as well as the master servers for matchmaking. And if they provided that for 10 or 20 popular games with thousands of players on at any one time, then it might make sense. All they had was Gears of War and you're lucky if you can find 8 people to fill up a ranked match. It's a real shame too since Gears PC is a great multiplayer game and the PC is really a better platform for it than the 360 is.

Lets see, with the amount of hype behind it, they could easily sell a million copies of TF2 by itself for for $49.95 (Excluding the few hundred people that are pissed that it's not a free Quake 2 mod). Yet people are super pissed that they get TF2, Episode 2 and a couple of games they either don't really care about or all ready have in the same box for the price of a single game... O...K...

Opinions in beta seemed to break down into 3 camps. 1. Not enough like Battlefield / Too much like Quake. 2. Not enough like Quake / Too much like Battlefield. 3. Didn't care what else it's like, just enjoyed the game.
I kind of lean more toward #2 but it's definitely a quality shooter. Now I just have to choose between ET:QW and TF2. Wish I had time for both.

I plan to pick up a $20 vga cable for the 360 and use my computer monitor. I really don't watch enough tv to justify HD. My current machine should be good for internet, mp3 riping, photo editing, and word processing for another 5 to 7 years just like a machine built in 2000 is good for all of the above today.
As for the auto-aim 'feature,' this is why I am planing the 360 conversion grudgingly. The Quake Warts Beta has driven me to the conclusion that the PC shooter is dead. It's become a victim of 'realistic' bullet dispersion, 'teamplay,' and "we could sell a million more units of this if we develop it for console instead of pc." I spent years learning the art of the twitch shooter and I came to terms with the fact that sometimes you loose because of latency and sometimes you loose because the other guy is better. I would rather deal with auto-aim on a level playing field than empty a clip into someone's face and do no damage because of a bad dice roll. Don't get me wrong, I like Counter Strike, but there is a place for Counter Strike, it's called Counter Strike. Now every damn PC shooter is Counter Strike.
In summation, I want to give my $350 to someone, pop in the disk and play, and not spend 12 hours tweaking settings to make a console game play properly on my pc. I also want coffee that keeps me awake without making me this irritable and jittery. And I want an abundance of Q3A deathmatch servers populated with players of diverse skill levels. I want it to be 1999 forever!!! BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

That's the exact reason that I'm starting to look at the Xbox 360. My 3500+ 7800GT combo can run most 360 games at medium settings and while I can run them I feel like I'm loosing out. And I mean it when I say 360 games, basically everything is made for the 360 then ported to PC now. So why spend $1200 on a new PC that will start showing its age in 18 months when you can play games on their native system for $350 and it will be good for at least another 3 years? I'm gonna miss my mouse and keyboard

So let me get this straight, it's going to try to be a single player RPG, a Diablo style online action RPG, and a WOW style MMORPG? So then it's either going to be the best game ever or utterly mediocre. Seeing as mediocre MMORPGs don't do very well and games with "Hell" in the title don't generally appeal to the "this looked cool on the shelf at Walmart crowd," I guess they must be shooting for best game ever. So much for picking one thing and doing it well.

I'm glad to see this because I was just thinking about this very situation the other day. Theoretically, people buy movies so they can watch their favorite films once or twice a year for many years. When technology changes, they buy the same movies over again on new media. It’s good for the IP owner because one good film can provide revenue pretty much forever and it’s good for the consumer because they can enjoy their favorite films in the highest quality format available. But what about games?
For the last decade we’ve been seeing games that really are works of art on par with film. We’ve seen many titles that have storytelling and gameplay experiences that should make them timeless. You should be able to enjoy them just as much in 20 years as you did the day they were released, but in most cases you can’t. Try to find a copy of System Shock 2 for instance. It’s not easy but there are still some used copies floating around. Now try to load it on Vista… See the problem, it’s a true classic and it’s only a few years old but you have to jump through hoops just to play it and when you do, you will probably be at least a little distracted by the quality of the graphics.
There are many games out there that just beg to be remade for every generation of hardware and Riddick is ideal. It’s a story driven classic that is an important piece of the plot of a film IP. It has very solid gameplay that isn’t going to get stale with time. And it’s short. That’s not normally a positive attribute in a game, but it is when you’re talking about years of longevity. It’s much more viable to replay a game over a weekend than it is to invest weeks in a previously played game.
Now if it just priced low enough to justify repurchasing it every 5 years, we’re golden.

Well, with 2 weeks free, I guess I could find out if it's $14 a month worth of awsome Considering I play the average $50 game for about 2 months, the price seems right. There are pros and cons to the subscription thing. If the game's not worth playing for more than a month, you're only out $14.00. If you want to play it for a year then it's not so great unless they really give you a lot more than the standard $50 game. Overall I think the subscription model is bad for the industry because recurring costs limit the number of games that people are willing to purchase. Warbirds looks really interesing though, and not sterile like IL2. With a free trial and no upfront cost, I'm willing to give it a spin. Besides, anything to make me quit playing WOW.

I had a similar problem. It turned out that a battery terminal had corroded. The interior lights were getting enough juice to operate and I had voltage, but I couldn't get enough amps out of the battery to turn the starter motor. It could be anything, but it's worth checking the battery.

Go to a hobby shop and get a bottle of cyano-acrylate adhesive. That's the active ingredient in Krazy-Glue but I don't think it's as concentrated as it used to be.

I believe Forgotten Battles can be had for around $19.95 now. Pick it up and download the latest patch. There is plenty there without the Aces Expansion to keep you busy for a long time.
A good place for a newcommer to start would be the last phase of the Russian fighter campaign in the Yak-9.
Have fun.
