1. Baby Boomers Apr 30, 2007, 18:47 UnderLord

I'm 52 this month and have been networking since stone-age acoustic-coupler modems, teletypes and PDP8 minicomputers.
I only get 1 newspaper a week just as the cheapest way of getting the included TV guide, I get all of my real news on the web.
This site is where my day starts and ends and I follow maybe 15-20% of the links, and often further links from the linked sites.
Other boomers may not spend as much time on the net as I, but I'd be surprised if at least 25% of those that are on-line didn't get their news on-line too.

Looks like Yarro is fishing to see if any lawmaker wil fall for him being an upstanding citizen.
Then maybe he can trade on his new good rep' with the legal crowd.

5. Take 2 did the smart thing Apr 19, 2007, 18:25 UnderLord

I've said it before, Jack Thompson is the best enemy we gamers could have.
He won't let any other critic share his anti-gaming limelight, yet he himself is a buffoon with no credibility.
The last thing we want is him out of circulation, he's our shield!

I wonder how big a poster Ad' Jack T. will buy for his 'professional' services.

4. OLED displays Apr 12, 2007, 17:25 UnderLord

The main advantage of OLED displays is no backlight, the pixels emit light, so good saturation and high efficiency.
The cost of "a few times that of existing flat TVs" is a surprise, I thought they had the ability to print these panels using modified inkjet technology, that should be cheaper than LCD!
If durability is an issue a layer of toughened glass can always be added to the front.
They have been working on making OLEDs last longer (less fading) but I don't know how successfully.
Given that problem, they will HAVE to do better on pricing (although the entrenched tube manufacturers claimed the same about plasma displays, but mine is still fine after years of pretty heavy use, what we need are some actual figures)

1. Vista Beta testers Apr 11, 2007, 23:56 UnderLord

I don't think they need worry, if MS doesn't give them an extension they risk seeing a sudden drop in their claimed Vista adoption rates. ;-)

1. Epson wants laws? Apr 5, 2007, 18:01 UnderLord

Good idea, first off how about a maximum cost of $100/Litre for ink and $1 for the cartridge?
Or am I mistaken in thinking that laws are supposed to be made for the good of people, not corporations?
Arrogan rip-off merchants!

2. Indias PC tax Mar 21, 2007, 01:01 UnderLord

So Micheael Dell says it's the fault of the PC tax that they don't have greater market share?
But HP and Lenovo sell cheaper computers and they are doing just fine thank-you.
If the tax goes down, HP and Lenovo benefit too, so how does that help Dell?
What a complete prat!

11. Punt Gun Mar 8, 2007, 17:39 UnderLord

Scary things alright.
When used as intended, mounted in a punt creeping through marshes and lining up birds, you have to remember to lift your knees up or the boat recoiling will relocate your kneecaps!

37. Even if MS gets punters in Mar 6, 2007, 02:08 UnderLord

The whole idea of central servers for games is dodgy.
remember Asherons Call 2? here's a reminder - http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=59703&id=261926&boardid=1&view=threads
We all know that MS loses interest in supporting their older products after a while.
Do you think you'll be seeing a refund when they shut down the Crisis (or whatever) servers because the game isn't making (enough) money?

2. Swashbuckling? Mar 5, 2007, 15:46 UnderLord

A buckler is the small shield carried on the non-sword-wieldig arm. You swash with the sword and buckle to defend against your opponents blow.
I can't see ANY bucklers on the web site, I don't think these people know what they're talking about!
Swashbuckling AND sword fighting? Get a clue!

"The revival of the Star Trek franchise is an important part of Paramountís turnaround."
Too bad you fu**ed it in the first place then Paramount, despite fan protests.
I hope you are seriously disappointed in the interest you get from disenchanted former fans and lose your shirt on it.

Also all the other useless intermediate sites like Boing-Boing where I have to see some retards take on the article first.
