1. Collaboration Summit Jun 16, 2007, 20:37 UnderLord

Bloody 'middle-management-itis' hits Linux.
Those who can, do. Those who can't, hold meetings.
Is that B Ark nearly ready yet?

Not pandering to the PS3 and Xbox 360 PowerPC chip crowd I hope?
As a former PowerPC developer, it will always mean this to me -
"Enforce In-Order Execution of I/O"

It's a plan to promote Steam, an 'iNvidious' one, as in 'No Nvidia' ;-)

Vista IS more secure than XP, it's just that all the security is between that bastard thieving user and his PC and files, nothing to do with the internet!

Gee, that must be worrying the RIAA. Declining shop sales and now declining downloads.
Pretty soon the kiddies will figure out that they CAN live without all that crappy product.
Then what will those fat-cats do for there next million?

Either they are not afraid of MS sueing them for Linux breaching all those MS patents, or they've signed up to the FUD fund.
I hope it's the former.

3. Uwe Boll funding May 21, 2007, 21:13 UnderLord

I think I've figured out how he gets funding for his movies.
The big movie companies slip him the money so that there are always movies fresh in the critics (and the publics) minds that remind them how bad movies CAN be.
That way, their serious efforts to make money all get better ratings, clever!

3. PS3 overpriced May 19, 2007, 02:50 UnderLord

Based on what component cost breakdown that you're privy to do you base the 'overpriced' assertion on?
Having spent this week on a consumer electronics product, metalwork, plastics, and custom PCB assembly and testing in Shenzhen, China with their assistance in using locally sourced parts, I have a rather good idea of what things cost.
The improved Blue Laser yield achieved recently will reduce the cost of the drive and hence the PS3 by quite a bit, but they will probably defer cost reductions to recover some of the real losses incurred on the early sales.

1. Ubisoft and EA on PS3 price May 19, 2007, 00:55 UnderLord

These guys have an inflated sense of their own importance!
Thinking you have the right to insist on a lower price for the hardware your games run on is like me thinking I can force the unreasonable price of Petrol down because I drive a car.
I solve my problem by driving a small car, maybe they should stick to programming for the Wii?
Oh, right, those shareholder thingies...

"it involved a dispute over the way Spyware Doctor rated Zango's software"
They didn't classify it as digital filth produced by the scum of the earth, then?

Right, a bit of googling and I see it was cancelled in 2004, a darned shame.
Of course, with all my DNF practice, I was just patiently waiting for it.
Googled too much, now I'm confused-

1. ATI Pants Down May 16, 2007, 01:09 UnderLord

And why should they need an extra reason to do the best job they can on their drivers?
Or were they going to sell the card and drivers cheaper as it's a half-assed job?
If you have to modify the drivers to cope with each games coding style, there's probably too much flexibility in the API (though it seems sacrilege to say so, as a programmer).

1. MS Patents May 14, 2007, 18:36 UnderLord

I guess MS just had to re-iterate this BS claim given that it looks possible that patent reform might invalidate patents that are obvious to someone moderately skilled in the art.
No doubt these all fall under that category, so this is their last chance to use them.

If they hadn't specifically said assassin rather than spy, I'd have put money on it being a Mata Hari story.

If it's a poker game then "Poker: Vegas Strip Edition" would be the far more logical title.
Unless it's Strip Poker, which, it being Sony, I doubt ;-)

4. Folding May 10, 2007, 15:39 UnderLord

Wll, we know exactly what results you'll get from doing no folding, at least by doing it you're in with a chance.
I reckon when MS tries their client, if it makes the PS3 look really good, they won't release it.
With the CPU grunt of the PS3, I think that's all too likely.
