1. 64-bit Vista Aug 1, 2008, 00:45 UnderLord

Dubious marketing guff aside, if I was going to go through all the pain of moving to 64-bit, I wouldn't do it for a poxy 4GB when I can get 3+GB in 32-bit already.
8GB minimum, preferably 16GB, and that's just where I think it should start.

8. Regarding OpenGL etc' Jul 30, 2008, 19:56 UnderLord

Actually, with heaps of CPU and only 480x320 pixels in the display, I'd bet on him implementing ray-tracing to achieve high-quality graphics.

I'll tell you right now,
MLC is the HD/DVD of SSDs, SLC is the Blu-Ray of SSDs.
People just won't settle for cheaper but inferior, no matter how many profit dollar signs are in the vendors eyes.
They might as well get used to it and concentrate on SLC and bring the price down by total market dominance, that works!

7. It all depends... Jun 25, 2008, 19:56 UnderLord

They may be planning to make 'jobs for the boys' by making a ratings agency evaluate and rate the games, not the games companies.
Even worse, it could be like Australia that doesn't have an R (X elsewhere) rating for games, so if it gets an 'un-rated' rating (if you follow me) then it can't be sold at all.

1. USB 3 Spec Jun 16, 2008, 18:07 UnderLord

Actually it's just the host-controller spec', but that's bad enough.
Hey Intel! Remember how ugly things got for you with the Pentium bug and later gaffs?
Well, you may get to market first, but so did HD-DVD and we customers voted with our wallets and killed it, Xbox 360 or no.
Get the picture?

It's not an art, it's a science - 'ktentomology' IIRC. No luck finding a reference though.

1. Antenna reality Jun 11, 2008, 16:46 UnderLord

"The assumption is that the TVs are connected to an outdoor antenna 30ft above the ground with an electric motor that allows the user to point the antenna toward the desired station."

And if, like me, you have multiple TVs in the house and the kids want to watch a program from a different signal direction... ?

1. Betrayed already! Jun 11, 2008, 05:39 UnderLord

So I went to the site, cracked the code (I,II,III,IV,V) and it says - "Belief and Betrayal will be released worldwide in early 2007".
Great QA on the web-site, I wonder what state the game is in?

Is it just me that thinks folk supplying publicly available software by way of pages with ad's is just wrong?
They did NOTHING to create the thing they're doing us such a favour supplying a link to.
Bugger that -

2. WinDVD and Intel next-gen Chipsets Jun 3, 2008, 18:45 UnderLord

I think it's a smart move making the new chipset Blu-ray capable.
With 1TB drives common and 2TB drives mentioned for next year, full backups are all but impractical on any media other than another hard-drive.
This move will make a Blu-ray drive a much more attractive proposition with the built-in capability of mainstream PCs to play Blu-ray disks as well as perform a backup to archival media without getting RSI.
