Visuals are nice but combat is way too spastic and over the top. Who's directing this? Michael Bay?

And by the way, what are the rules of Thunderdome?

TWO MEN ENTER, ONE MAN LEAVES

I'm glad to see mech games coming back, between this and Hawken. I'm only hoping it leads to another proper Heavy Gear sequel.

Guess that delay of an extra week didn't really help CK2. Wish it was higher.

I'm surprised to even see it in the top 10. It's a pretty steep learning curve for anyone not familiar with Paradox' RTS formula. The openness and lack of a direct path and "goal" (at least in comparison to the Total War series) probably turns a lot of people off.

I was about to give the MW3 free weekend a shot, but then I realized I don't hate myself that much.

Why does a company like facebook need proof that we are who we say we are? Sounds like a phishing scam to me. I guess ones data is much more "valuable" when they can tie it to a real identity.
Why do people still use this spy-machine?
Has anyone ever seen the study that links FB right back to the CIA? One of my college professors spent an entire lecture on this? Fascinating really.

google "facebook cia connection" if you're interested.

The largest intelligence agency in the world has a vested interest in keeping the largest social networking site, where people freely share personal information in a public forum that's easily accessible by anyone, active?

Duh.

Of course, when MyFaceLinkedSpaceInBook+ launches, I'm sure the CIA will want nothing to do with it.

There's no such thing as "off the radar." If you have a birth certificate, you're on the radar.

Would it have been sexist if he said that a girl gamer's guy would give her head if she let him win? Or, if he said that a gay gamer's boyfriend would give him a blowjob if he let him win? Or a lesbian gamer's girlfriend would give her head if she let her win? All of those statements are equally ridiculous, all it was was a stupid remark, no hate, misogyny, or sexism attached to it. These kind of thought police will be the death of our society.

Now, if he had said, "Play the game with your dumb whore of a girlfriend, she'll totally suck your cock just for allowing her the gratitude of playing with you..." That would have been misogynistic.

Oh dear lord, an in-game shop with paid content. Another great PC dev gets corrupted.

You say that as if UbiSoft wasn't already corrupted. They're so far beyond corruption now, they're practically the root of evil.

ASeven's talking about the developer, Related Designs, not the publisher. Aside from the annoying disappearing multiplayer in Anno 1503, this was a great series and by all accounts, this one is excellent too.

Ah, misread it then, my apologies. Are they under contract or something? If the game are that good (personally I never gave them a shot specifically because of Ubi), and the ire against Ubi from the community seems great enough, it seems that if they could switch publishers it would be to their benefit.

I'd love to see someone make a strategy game like this, but taking place during the early medieval era, maybe from 200AD-900AD... taking down the Roman Empire, fighting off (or playing as) hordes of raiding vikings... such an interesting era, politically, socially, and militarily, that rarely gets any lipservice.

My main complaint is that usually they just detract from the game. I recently started FFXIII-2, and while I'm enjoying it, the QTEs are ridiculously bad. They happen during key cinematics that I want to watch not play, and the button prompts are so large that they cover up half the screen, blocking the cinematic for the duration of the cue.

For short, Arkham Asylum/Arkham City: QTE done right; FFXIII-2: QTE done horribly wrong.

R.I.P Adam. Thanks for the great work.

Those shots of the Civil War always blow me away. It still boggles my mind that this was really just over a century ago. I mean, my mom's grandparents were around for it. Hell, a lot of you guys must have had great or great-great granparents in it. Everyone go to Youtube and listn to The Band's The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down. Alternately, you can listen to Joan Baez's version if you want.

Both sides of my family came over before and after WW1, so no direct relatives in the Civil War. I've also found American history to be rather boring and uninteresting, except for the period of about 1854 to the end of war, starting with the Kansas-Nebraska Act.

But honestly when was the last time Valve released some IP they created, answer, HL2.

I'm not sure I see how it matters.

I think the point is that everyone is jumping to the defense of Valve as if they're some savior of the gaming community, when they haven't released anything of their own since 2007. Essentially, Valve is riding the coattails of the mod community, making bank on other people's work, and shoving it down our throats through Steam and its sales. And we lap it up, we lap it up because we love it.

They're both dicks, but if you actually take the time to read the opposition Blizzard does have the better claim to the trademark. It wouldn't be as simple as Valve renaming the game, since the Dota 2 is pretty much an exact remake of Dota; same hero names, same spell names, creeps, items, etc. If Blizzard ends up winning Valve would have to redesign the entire game.

This only confirms what anyone with a brain could have concluded on their own; the beta is an extremely small part of the game and there is much more to it. Though, it would be super cool of them to give us some beta access to Nightmare Mode with some premade characters.

Warcraft 2 had a built in system for multiplayer over the internet where NOT everyone needed a cd.

Yup, they called it a "Spawn" install, it only allowed multiplayer play, and if I remember right they stopped doing it with Diablo 2 (with their Battle.net revamp), and I can't remember if StarCraft had it. WarCraft 2 and Diablo 1 both definitely supported spawn installs though.

The beta is fun enough. I was worried that the game was going to be WoW-Lite before they announced the recent changes, but the beta in its current form is more of a true Diablo successor. Likewise I played through the beta only 3 times, but given that it's a very, very, small portion of the game I think the full version will be much more engaging.

As for WoW... I'm sure the implementation of LFR and the 1 year free Diablo III subscription had a lot to do with the numbers evening out. I'm done with the game, but I'm itching for a new MMO.

Everything in there looked awesome. If they don't make it into a DLC or patch, hopefully some of those technical tweaks make it into a future game.

I saw Tribler on reddit yesterday and gave it a shot. Worked great, but for the moment it still supports dedicated torrent trackers, which I imagine contributes to most of its current success. Once those trackers are gone we'll see how it works out.

DICE should learn from this game. Finally we can compete with those hackers.

I don't think there is anything of value that any developer can learn from UbiSoft... unless of course you are a company that values fucking your customers in the ass, without even having the goddamned common courtesy to give them a reach-a-around.
