| I like GamersGate. I've probably bought about 25 or so games from them. I do like the fact they have a variety of interesting games that will probably never appear on Steam or in a North American retail store. |

These games are pretty fun. I played the heck out of the second one.
And even though I put in 50+ hours on the Xbox version of SR2, I couldn't resist picking up the PC version for $2 when I saw it in a bin at a bargain store. |

| The reason games are shorter now is because they're harder/more expensive to make and the development cycles aren't that much longer than they were back in the "old days." |

I don't think Venetica has a North American release date yet. It did just come out recently in the UK, so if it doesn't get released here there'll always be eBay.
Or maybe an online game retailer will pick it up. |

The only people who should be playing bad games are game developers, so they can learn from the mistakes of others and not pass them on to consumers.
On the subject of Metacritic scores, I finished Wheelman over the weekend. Most of the reviews weren't too kind to it, but I thought it was decent dumb fun. I don't mind playing "bad" games like that every once in a while.

I haven't bought a PC game in a box since February 2009. Not because I don't want to, but because most of the retailers in my area have a very meager selection of PC games.
To be fair, Wal-Mart and FutureShop have a good variety of PC games, but they're way out in the sticks and I don't like going out there.
These days, nearly every PC game I buy is bought via Steam, GamersGate, or Direct2Drive. |
