id, who's got more money than God, isn't going to pay for a relocation? That's ridiculously tight!
I guess their personnel policies (no relocation assistance) are as crappy as their games (Doom III).

One wonders why the Q3A version isn't a free download? Heaven knows that Q3A was dead the minute id pissed off the online community by charging for Q3TA.
(Yes, I'm still very angry about id screwing up the whole community)

Tell me, is the game still clowned up with the goofy colors and screwed up with the adrenaline?
I think it's telling of how little Epic thinks of the Unreal Tournament community when less than 1% of the servers ran with mutators and now, every game is plagued with adrenaline.
The great and wonderful game of Unreal Tournament, with it's dark and haunting atmosphere, got merged with Super Mario World.
Sux. Epic, we're still waiting for the successor to Unreal Tournament and an apology for destroying a once great game and community. The Unreal Tournament scene used to be *full* with players and UT2kX emptied them all out (minus the botz - they seem to be the only ones that like the POS).

I love it. Keep bitching PC crowd. I just love it. Maybe Warren will decide he's had enough of all the complaining and put out games for the Xbox even faster.
Deus Ex: Invisible War ruled. No two ways about it. All, and I mean *all* the Xbox reviews rated it highly.
Between the software and hardware of the PC (and the constant whining and complaining on top of it!!!!), I have no idea why any games get released on the PC.
Viva la Xbox!

I have to say that I'm really looking forward to this. I used to play Counter-Strike all the time and it grieved me to be forced to stop playing over the rampant and constant cheating I witnessed.
The Xbox's closed system should help that a lot. I hope. We'll see.
I had high hopes for Rainbow Six 3 for the Xbox, but they aren't going to add objective-based mp as they once advertised.
All hail Counter-Strike!

" I used to play Weapons Factory quite a bit (always thought it was much tighter than Q3F)"
Yeah, that was pretty good. I used to play that as well. Same story as Q3F though, no one can be found playing it. It's pretty bad.
I would add a few more details to what happened to Q3A and it's mods. From my memory, here are the details: - Id hypes Q3A to death. - Lots of Q3As are sold and everyone starts complaining about what's missing from Q3A. - Id starts work on Q3A:TA and does two things to kill all gameplay and good will in the community: 1) Took too damn long to come out with TA (it was easily over a year) 2) Charged too much for it. The Q3A went *berzerk* over the fact that they felt it should be a free download. As a result, it was hardly purchased and generated little online traffic.
...and I think the rest of the historical details are accurate. Between Id's extreme bungling of the situation and CS's wild popularity, the Q3A, TA, and mod servers were **emptied over night**. It got ugly and quick.

"speaking of mods, what the hell is going on with UT2k3? theres not one really killer mod out for it even after a year of being on the shelves."
UT2k3 sux az major. No one is playing the base game, why do you think it would move someone to create a mod for it?
You have to work like hell to find a server with real people. Epic major screwed that game: - Lost the dark mood of UT. - Cranked up the model speed. - Added clowning colors. - Rammed UT Relics down everyone's throat in the form of UT2k3's Adrenaline. - The base maps that came with UT2k3 suxed bad. Cliffy B's gold necklace must have drilled him too many times in the forehead.

Wow. This should please all 7 people.
I tried really hard to get some Q3F gaming going a year ago, and most of the weekends, you can't find one person playing the game.
The Q3F developers have deluded themselves into continuing this project.

A real thinking game... |

...in contrast to the RTS-genre-abused games from Westwood, Ensemble, and Blizzard.
It's a pity that RTS was once about thinking and is now about reflex and twitch (which is the primary realm of the FPS).
We should be grateful to Westwood, Ensemble, and Blizzard for so destroying a once great genre and causing a rebirth of the turn-based strategy genre. Thanks guys! Thanks for bringing back games that are primarily about thinking.

"Note to Valve: that's not a mission. That's a bullshit arcade goal system to keep us playing the same damn levels we've always played, only a little bit prettier and with bots."
TOTALLY AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
