"Holy smoke...there are still people playing D2??? hahaha. "
Pretty much. nothing is better at what it does. QFT
I love Torchlight, Titan Quest, Borderlands, Sacred 2 and all the other wonderful roguelikes that have come out since...but they all pale in comparison to Diablo 2.
It's one of only a few games I have installed on every new rig I build. |

I'd rather be on rails in a well designed and crafted experience than be let off the leash to wander around miles and miles of procedurally generated crap with nothing happening. Agreed. For all of its initial fun, Fallout 3 Oblivion and Morrowind get boring after the first trip because it's just more of the same open, empty bullshit.
I'm going through my 3rd trip through Dragon age and I'm seeing new cinemas, new events, and new relationships. Not to mention entire new areas I missed before (Like Shale's unique section of the deep roads that only she can visit) |

No Dragon Age? Seriously lacking in credibility. That's the first thing I said when I saw the nominees. They include two games released this week (AC2 and L4D2) but no DA:O? What is possibly the best PC RPG since Baldur's Gate?
Spike's awards were never very friendly to RPGs anyway. Those meatheads probably thought Modern Warfare was an RPG since it had (R)ocket (P)ropelled (G)renades in it. |

People say this but they don't back it up. In reality all you have working is some health potion and an attack skill, approximating BAD AI from a normal game. Some achievement. Unless you do more with it and can show it off. Not to be "That guy", but if you find this game difficult on normal you officially suck at RPGs. I imagine you guys would shoot your brains out if you had to play Wizardry 8 or Temple of Elemental Evil with the CO8 difficulty mod. You could never hack it.
The Redcliff battle is *easy*. The Trick? Two mages using cone of cold. One using it while the fighters run in to shield bash/shatter them. Easy.
And if you lack two mages (Morrigan and Wynn work well) you just lead the zombies up to the clifftop where the NPC soldiers are fighting and let them do the work, since they are invincible and won't die. Well, the one guard won't die since he's plot important.
Gamers have gotten soft. Especially you folks.
But you'll use that "I GOTZ KIDS NOW!" excuse, won't you? |

I'm so heartbroken that the sequel to the worst 360 game ever made is getting delayed.
At least the last boss gives up 380 gamerpoints when defeated. If it wasn't for that, I'd have never finished it. |

The best module I played was Darkness over Daggerford, and that was made free. Sadly, the "paid" module that Ossian made, Wyvern Crown of Cormyr, wasn't that good.
The only premium module I enjoyed was Infinite Dungeons, since it brought back the old feeling of Dungeon Hack (an old D&D DOS game) and was the closest NWN got to being a truly accessible co-op game. |

Any word as to why we're being punishedtreated differently up here in Scandinavia? Hey, if you guys won't let we Americans have Ego Draconis, then you can't have Dragon Age. |

Bioware sure learned their lesson didn't they? They missed out on the DLC gravy train with ME1 and sat back and watched with tear filled eyes as Bethesda and Lionhead pumped out (mostly) subpar DLC for huge amounts of cash. Guess Bioware was jealous.
Now we have launch day Dragon Age DLC and ME2 already being hyped for its DLC.
Ahhhhh, what a wonderful time we live in. |

Multi would just bring on the griefers, hackers and dupers that would join my game. They can stay in D2 for as long as they like IMHO. (or in their own, isolated copy of Torchlight.) Yeah, after all, no one playing Torchlight has friends that also like Action RPGs. If we did play Torchlight with other people, it would have to be with random strangers in public games.

When I played DivDiv all those years ago, I made a comment once calling it "Ultima 7 re-imagined".
DivDiv and Ultima 7 are very similar, and I feel it was overlooked by gamers who would have otherwise played it. Great hardcore, but fun RPG.
Last boss fight was horribly one dimensional though. |

The official boards have the ports that need to be forwarded. I had a problem conencting to games as well, until I went into my router and set up a profile for forwarding Gamespy's ports.

Though even still, to host private games for friends, I have to do the "Trick". You know, host a public game, have your friend join, then leave and host a private game and invite him into it while he's stil in the old public game.
That's the only way to play protected online games, away from loot hogs. Shame too. |

My character is either fucking weak in general or the game wants me to grind like fuck!
I mean.. I just killed Nine-Toes.. and now I'm getting quests that are "hard" and I'm basically getting one-shot by rampaging missile-launcher big dudes... wtf? I had that problem too. There are no quests between level 14 to 19. Well, a few, but they won't give you much experience. I piggy-backed my way to lv 18 with some random strangers online and then I could finally tackle the quests they had given me.
Seemed poorly planned to throw a bunch of lv19 quests right after lv14 ones. |

I just hit lv 20 as Brick and it's been a mixed bag so far. I like the open world aspect, the vehicles and the combat, but the multiplayer is in dire need of a tune up. I've played 3 MP games so far, totalling about 5 hours, and I'm not sure what to think.
Server list freezes while refreshing, no ping indicator on hosted games, no way to sort the list by level/ping/open slots etc., and most games are un-joinable due to one thing or another.
This all combines to make MP a very annoying thing to get going. |

I wonder what new pop culture boogeyman the older folks will point their collective fingers at once all non-gamers pass away and this generation takes over?
Games will end up being like how rock-n-roll or movies are now. An indelible part of our culture that is accepted and widely appreciated.
Maybe holo-tunnels with their ultra-realistic and interactive depictions of sex. Nobody will procreate anymore. |

I dunno why people are so excited about this game. Everyone hated Hellgate and this is exactly the same thing, just in the desert instead of London Everyone hated Hellgate because it was a broken mess of a game.
Let's rifle off some of the reasons why:
It had about 5 different enemies that were just endlessly palette swapped, it had only 4 "levels" that were endlessly repeated, online play was broken since 90% of the time the "invisible partner bug" made your team mates invisible, the will feed system made equipment juggling a time consuming and needlessly tiring/long addition to gameplay, the game's servers frequently crashed/lagged, the game frequently crashed/locked-up, the paid member only "events" were nothing more then lv7 flaming gloves and apple cider that slightly increased EXP. gain, and to top it off you were banned from the forums *and* the game if you so much as mentioned any of these things in the forums. The forums were constantly being locked down by power-mad mods trying to hide the game's sorry state.
No, Borderlands might not be perfect, but it is FAR from being a new Hellgate London. |

This is already being pirated on the Xblox 360 since like a few days ago. Take a look at any torrent site. There are more console games being pirated than PC titles. A certain invite only one I frequent has nearly every current gen console title out there. It's actually harder for me to find well seeded PC Modern Warfare torrents than it is console ones.
They may pretend like it's only a PC problem, but it's actually more of a console problem. Console games have no real DRM and are easily played on modded systems. It's funny how ignorant most publishers are. |
