I thought it was fun until I tried messing with the options. When I jumped the res up to 1024x768 I ran into the problems Dan is talking about. Things got worse when I tried to reset everything to default... the textures became dark and blurry, and the mouse control problems didn't go away either. I noticed it's coming out for consoles too... after it's released I'll give it a shot on my Xbox, but I won't bother with the PC version if the same problems are there. I had the same problems. Try updating to the newest version of the catalyst drivers.

No mention of the new Half Life bink video? It's called "Tunnels" and features those flying spinny guys. You can find it on fileplanet and gamershell and probably tiscalli as well.

I don't think anyone even read the info on it, I'm going to feel bad for the people who don't buy this game based on the demo. They said it would be combat heavy, and it is. It's coming from Black Isle, so it will probably be a lot better than you're thinking. Of course, if the actual game comes out and it's just like this, you can bitch then, however, until that point, I don't think you can really whine about it too much. Again, being combat heavy doesn't bother me. Well, not too much anyway. What bothers me is that the combat is uninteresting and shallow. In the end, in almost every game of this type you will spend some time chopping gobins or the equivalent. Sure you can talk your way out of this situation or another, but it is a rare RPG that lets you skip out on combat entirely. FOr me it is essential to make this aspect of the game as interesting as the plot and character interactions.

It's not the emphasis on combat that put me off, but the combat itself. For fighters it's click the enemy. For archers it's shoot shoot run shoot shoot run... meh. I want either tactical party based combat or more interesting solo combat (like Nox). Also, this is just personal preference, but I don't like the plastic look of obviously rendered graphics. You can design models with a 3d program without having them end up looking like these do... Oh well. Here's hoping Temple Of Elemental Evil will satisfy...

I had been looking forward to this one, but after playing the demo, it just strikes me as way too arcade-ish... It's closer to Diablo than Baldur's Gate or Torment, with the exception of the interesting character creation process. Ah well. If you are looking for a Diablo clone with a little more brains and plot, this will probably satisfy, but I wanted a deep, tactical rpg.

Just wanted to let you know I brewed up some of your famous chili on Saturday and it got rave reviews from my family. I must say I'm not used to such meaty chili (we usually have tomatoes or beans in it) but it was delicious none the less. We had it with brown rice, but I must say, I preferred it straight. Maybe I'll have a bit for lunch today...
