News Comments > BioShock 2 PC DLC Plans Scrapped
62. Re: BioShock 2 PC DLC Plans Scrapped Oct 10, 2010, 22:13 Shooters fanboy

Indeed Jerykk, that's an important fact. Basically what I'm trying to say is as a PC Gamer I'm unhappy with our misfortune since as far back as the Xbox's launch back in 2001 with Halo which was a PC focused game in its beginnings then becoming a Xbox franchise hence contracting "consolitis" then again with Deus Ex IW and so on. With this gen of consoles especially in the last 2 years we PC gamers are getting too much console to PC ports or multi platform design resulting in watered down PC games, need I mention one of the big ones Modern Warfare 2's non dedicated servers and no mod support was a big blow to PC gaming especially after the huge community behind the first title, that to me is clear evidence of anti-piracy and most recently Ubisoft's Splinter Cell DRM where you couldn't play the game unless you were online at all times while playing the singleplayer(seems they were driven to that extreme because of torrenting). I digress, It seems to me 2K are thinking about risk vs reward with Bio2 PC DLC and have chosen to not bother with us, surely knowing their content would be on every major torrent site within a short time of release. So I say again PC piracy(which is more rampant than console piracy) is one of two major factors that's causing the decline of the quality of PC titles the second being the consoles more affordable pricepoint, accessibility, universal fixed hardware etc.

What's this about bullshit and bullshit eating? Rolleyes I'm surprised at the hypocritical comments in this thread, I expected more rational thinkers on the Blue forum. At least Sempai grasps my point.

@space captain You can go fuck off with your flippant comment. Anyone that doesn't accept that we PC gamers are no longer a lucrative market and are not treated equally as the console platforms due to PC much larger piracy is in denial. PC gaming as we knew it is pretty much dead now, for example I guarantee that many Deus Ex fans will be disappointed with Human Revolution's Consolitis compromises. Look I'm not being fatalistic here I'm simply stating the fact that the climate has changed for us veteran PC gamers for more or less the worst in my opinion and I for one 'am concerned about the future of our hobby. Will we ever have the likes of SS2 or Deus Ex, Baldurs Gate, Morrowind, Unreal Tournament/Counter-Strike, Battlefield 1943/2 and mass modding again? I think not and that's what saddens me. MMOs and RTSs are our only torch bearers of good old fashioned, true blue PC gaming in a world dominated by Consoles. Everything else at some level has consolitis now. So obviously the rampant piracy of PC games is the main cause of this, end of story.

@Mashiki Amiketo, Yes PC torrents and cracks are far more devastating to PC ports/PC gaming than console pirating. Is that not clear to you or are you in denial? It's the fucking reason DRM exists! Also yes I'm european, what of it? don't see why you had to add that in your comment.

Depressingly another nail in the coffin. Thank you pirates, if you can't afford the game tough fucking luck, get a job or just accept you can't have every release. I agree that games are over priced but torrenting clearly was the wrong action when companies can give consoles priority. "We did it to ourselves" and you're dragging me down with you. This is history repeating itself, ignorance ruining the world, albiet of small significance in the grand scheme but still culturally significant being many peoples mode of entertainment, escapism and imagining.

Well done PC pirates, BF Bad Company 2 neutered and now we're not even getting DS2, it's getting worse at a faster rate then I was hoping. What are we going to be left with in a few years just Valve and Steam?

Ant, you da man! I'm not pissed about BC2's lack of mod support because the destructibility appears to be unrealistic like cutting down trees in one shot from small arms, so it's unsuitable for a mod like PR. Never considered buying it just like arma and opFlash2, PR is my mistress. Still though DICE have always given the cold shoulder to their mod community so I'm not too surprised. They better have it for BF3 or else...

Well done Rebellion, nice to see companies still doing it old school,I can't even remember the last AAA PC FPS to do this. Now this is how you sell a new game to PC FPS gamers, looking at you Infinity Ward, wasted my money paying full price on MW1, I went back to True Combat and Insurgency Source mod back in 2007. Thursday can't come any sooner Steam you better be ready!

No they didn't, that explosive device is called a frame charge and it is used by many of the worlds Special Operations Forces, apparently invented by the British SAS. First seen in action publicly in 1980 at the Iranian embassy terrorist siege in London.

For their anti-piracy efforts they should have Steam as the only DRM requirement and left it at that, IW are stupid not to realize that mods prolong the life of your game. Never buying this game, luckily I'm more excited for L4D2. Also this info about John Carmack stating there will be no dedis for Rage is truly fucked up seeing as id games gave birth to FPS mods.

Ah man, they don't make them like they used to. One of my favourites as an early teen. The apex of fun fantastic action movies. Between this, RoboCop and Starship Troopers, director Paul Verhoeven truly was the master of that era.

"kill zombies with just 1 shot" What!? is that legit? Is this all weapons excluding pistols? I don't know the the details of L4D2 because I did a media blackout on the game to be surprised. Shit if this is true I'm pissed now, this is game of the year for me:( Until AvP or Lost Planet 2 which ever is out first.
