Jonphan,
But the website reviewers are not profiting from the review of the game...they're profiting from their banner ads. They don't charge people to read the review.
What I was referring to in regards to making money from your copy of the game would be a scenario where you make a mod or a total conversion from a game, and then sell it for $10 a pop, that's illegal.
Whether or not you do that, you're not breaking a law by saying bad things about a game. Servers can and already do kick people for cussing...how can they get away with that? What about their free speech? The admins are paying for the server, they can impose the rules they want. The cussing player doesn't lose his game, he just can't play on that server.
Let's take this scenario into the real world, since I can tell that's where it's headed. Let's say you have a kid in school. He cusses up a storm, swears at the teacher, generally behaves like an ass. He refuses to do as he's told. The end result, after multiple trips to the principle's office, conferences, etc., is that the kid (player) is kicked out (banned), and has to go to a different school (buy a different game).

...but I'll say it again.
EA, fix your bugs, and no one will talk about them (except in the "remember when..." context).
I think free speech gets a little tricky here...you paid for the game, you should be allowed to do with it as you please as long as you're not benefiting from it financially. But you're not paying to play on ranked servers. By that, since EA is the one keeping the stats alive (HA! That's a riot...still waiting for my stats to update), they can do as they want as long as you use their service. BUT, the server admins are paying a pretty penny to keep their servers running, so they should be able to do as they please. Complications abound. Perhaps since the cycle goes You buy the game -> You play on a ranked server -> Server admin pays for the server -> EA pays to keep the stats online, EA per this sequence, should probably have the final say.
I was rather frustrated at first since I love playing on pistol/knife/shock paddle servers...yes, I know I earn my badges faster that way, but it is very fun...but I understand how that can be construed as cheating. |

I cannot speak to the Booster Packs, but what others have said regarding Special Forces is true, definitely worth it for the extra unlocks (most notably for snipers and assault class), and because you get 2 unlocks per rank.
I saw this statistic on Gamespy a few weeks ago, that there were something like 5,000 BF2 servers, vs. 2,500 BF2142 servers. I have not played BF2142, but a BF2 friend of mine that I trust explicitly on these matters says that BF2's gameplay is much better. Try the demo to be sure, but that's what I understand. |

Honestly I do wish they would take all the aircraft from BF2, with 2142's infantry combat, and unlock system and make a Battlefield 3.
I'd be happy if they just fixed the stats and patched the problems with BF2...lazy bastards. The number of people playing BF2 outnumber 2142 by about 2:1. |

| I agree (plastic people). Granted, we're looking at an incredibly lo-res image taken off a projection screen...I'll wait to see an actual PC screenshot, but so far Crytek looks better. |

I think my comment was taken too harshly...I was serious when I say I love EA games (currently installed: NFS - MW, BF1942, BF2, C&C The First Decade). I fully intend to purchase this game.
No, not every game has a patch the first day it comes out...some do...and EA seems to be the leader of this trend. As well as the trend of leaving bugs in games because they've moved onto support their new babies (case in point, BF2 to BF2142).
And I didn't say completely bugless, I said mostly bugless. It's fine for a game to have bugs, but it shouldn't be apparent the second you install it...or before it, for that matter. This just seems like a case of not enough testing before they shipped it out to the masses.
As I said, I fully intend to purchase C&C 3...kind of glad I've decided to replay all the old games first, so by the time I'm done, it'll be $20 cheaper, and a good chunk of the problems will have been taken care of. |

...that no one is surprised by this. EA and their day 1 patching.
Sigh.
I love your games, EA, but you REALLY gotta work on releasing a fairly bugless product. |

I'll wait for the 360 version.
Have fun commanding troops with your controller. I'll stick with my mouse and hot-keys.
Even with how simple the demo was, the keyboard made it so much easier. Riflemen, group 1; Rocketmen, group 2; ORCAs, group 3. |

What car do you have?
A 95 Acura Integra GS-R, but I co-own a 95 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo with my father.
Sorry, couldn't resist. |

it's Q3A...with worse graphics...less variety in maps...and less variety in weapons. Now I'm an id fanboy, but Q3A was not revered for its weapon variety.
This had better not cost more than $10. |

| Boy, it's a good thing they never heard about Battlefield 2, what with the Middle Eastern Coalition. Especially since the MEC always seems to be at a disadvantage (look at most everyone's win/loss ratio for MEC vs their ratio for USMC). |

And what kind of company releases no incremental patch, and makes no mention of it on their own damn website?
One that has moved on to its new baby and could care less about "that old game." |
