what's the big deal? |

Oh, and I fail to see everyone's fucking problem with the CD Key. Fuck, it takes all of 15 seconds to punch in a CD key? You're not going to buy a game because of that? lame.
I can't say I've launched up the mplayer part yet, so I don't know the troubles that abound there, but come on people. Life's not going to end if you have to punch in a damn CD key every once and a while.

Well, I don't know one single person which doesn't own a pirated copy of Serious Sam.
Well, I can't deny it. I have a warezd copy of SS. But when I played it, and discovered how nice it was to take a throwback to the days of PURE CARNAGE GAMEPLAY, 20 bucks was easy to shell out. Don't get me wrong, loved Half Life, love a lot of games with plots and strategy.
But dammit, sometimes, that's not what you want. Sometimes you just want to test your mettle, and push your FPS reflexes and mad skillz to the limit.
What's this 2-3 hours? What, you put it on seriously-pansy difficulty? Show me someone who played through Serious Sam in 2-3 hours, and I'll show you someone who used no-clip and god mode.

But on the other hand, do I really need yet another quake game?
Coming from someone who's been playing it for hours, this is most definitely not another Quake game.
Not only does it have a story (I know I know, id putting out a game with a story?), but the atmosphere is incredible. The village level was incredible. I could almost feel the snow crunching under my feet, the cold air. Fuck, I felt like I was creeping through a real German village in the 40s, picking off SS with my sniper rifle.
Is this game worth how much I paid for it? Fuck yeah.

I think my Boomslang is too fast for it. The pointer moves so fast, it leaves the hand. The pointer's on the other side of the screen, but moving with the hand. Weird (best I got was 290).
Anyway, that kitty is pure evil. But I must say the funniest thing I've seen linked from Blue's in a while was Poke the Bunny. I have it bookmarked.

Yes, Mortal Kombat was ass. But Final Fantasy? What, please, was wrong with it? Bad acting? Only the most realistic animation movements to date. Bad story? Everyone I've heard tromp Final Fantasy didn't like the story. Ya know why? Their feeble minds couldn't comprehend it
Now, I can't say I agree with "violence and swearing are the only things that make a movie interesting", I think what he was trying to get at is with a low rating (PG-13), they end up not being able to push the envelope and include the bloody gore that was a part of the game. But I must admit "What the FUCK was that?!?!" is much more interesting than "What on earth was that?"

...that the idea could work. As it was mentioned before, all game-to-movie conversions that went bad, went bad because they didn't follow the original story. But then again, most of the games didn't have stories to begin with (Street Fighter, Super Mario Bros., et al.). Half Life DOES have a story. And with the right work, AND THE RIGHT CONSULTING (I.E. us, they're actually asking for our opinions).
I for one stand by them. More power to them if they can succeed where none truly have.

someone like Chewie. Escecially with all teh Hairy/scruffy questions. But I ended up as Han.
Don't forget about Leia's famous line "...scruffy looking, NERF HERDER!!"
As for me, I end up as one of two characters to survive through ALMOST all 6 Episodes, only to die at the hands of the one I trusted the most (and the other one to last as long). I am the Emperor.

I had a 1.2mhz Athlon.
DAMN DUDE!! That's fvcking FAST!! HAHAHAhaha, j/k.
I was a die-hard 3dfx fan since I built my first computer. It started with a Voodoo 2 8 meg. When the 3000 came out, I flipped out and bought it. Though I must say I was rather disturbed to find that it increased my fps by a measley 5 frames. Eh, it works.
Then 3dfx bit the dust, bought the farm, and went belly up. Who to turn to? I had absolutely no bias at all, and after hearing great things about the Radeon 64 meg DDR, I snatched one up. And what happened? I ended up with an improvement of 3 times the fps. The quake demo I had been timedemoing (yeah, I may play all the new games, but Quake 1 is still the bomb) jumped from 50 fps to 150. I'm sure 128 more megs of ram and a processor that was 633 mhz faster (P2 266 to a AMD T-Bird 900) had something to do with it, but I'm rather happy with my Radeon and T-Bird.
My 8 cents (inflation you know)

I'm definitely going to be getting this game. If there was one thing that kinda blew about the first screen shots, it was the quality of the trees, but apparently that's being taken care of.

Kinda off-topic, but on the topic of Walmart.
One night, about a year ago, my bro was watching some movies on his computer. Well, he needed to be quiet, as there were people sleeping, but his g/f (at the time) wanted to watch the movies too. So he headed out to find a headphone splitter.
Where would be the most logical place to go at 1 a.m.? WALMART!! After spending 5 minutes trying to explain to the guy at the electronics department what he was looking for, the reply he got was "That's too high-tech for our clientel."
Headphone splitter.
2 dollar piece of audio equipment.
Too high-tech.

Never mind, someone helped me in a game. No suprise, most of the people that post on this board are probably playing right now.
I just got my Gamevoice all set up for Wolf, now I really say what I mean. Seriously, this hardware is must have for a game like this. (and no, MS is not paying me to tell you that)

Radio commands? |

I've played very little, what I have I've liked, but I have a question. I've heard people using radio commands. Is this a mod you download, or is there something in the game I don't know about? Looked through the readme, not helpful.
Thanks ahead of time...

I've been a die-hard FPS fan since the genre's beginnings. I never liked 3rd person games, in fact I would say they really pissed me off.
Until Max Payne. My bro said I HAD to try it. So I did. Instantly hooked. It took a really good game to change my perspective on 3rd person (no pun intended).
And bullet time never really got old, it's a very tactical manuever.

Trust me Blue, you were far from the only person working today. Anyone and everyone that works in customer service should have been working today. I know I was. I really need to get out of customer service.
Ah, at least I got holiday pay out of it.

99.9% of all gun users never use their gun to prevent a crime
Sorry, wrongo, do some real research before you post statistics. I did (admittedly only for a research paper). And I quote:
"A study published in 1995 showed that guns were used defensively about 2.5 million times a year and that in only 5% of cases were defenders harmed after they brandished their gun."
Ratnesar, R. "Should you Carry a Gun?" Time 6 July 1998: 43.
BTW, I do agree with your calling Frederickson a moron.

The Real Problem |
Sep 1, 2001, 11:58 |

There's a simple equation to explain all of this:
Bad Parenting (75% ) + violence in media (2% ) + Parents having loaded weapons that aren't locked up (23% ) = Homicidal Teenagers
Nuff Said.
