ah, 56k. Ping of 200? Damn! I'm flying tonight! But I did always enjoy imagining the look on the faces of all the lpbs when the foo with the 350 ping was smearing their faces across the Q1 servers. Strangely, when I got cable, it didn't really get any easier. I dunno.

I am certainly the odd-man out. My true love in Girl Scout cookies are Trefoils. Plain cookie, I know. but give me a pile of em, and a wide-mouthed cup of milk, and I'm in dunking heaven.

Why do I get this image of you burning something to the ground because you thought it was non-flammable?

well, I guess it was one of those freak chance horoscope instances, but I found my colorgenic to be frighteningly on the dot. That, combined with the music, made me shiver a bit.
But anyway.
Ahem.
Moooooo. Moo-moo. Moo, moo, mo-moo-moo. Moo? Moo-moooo? MOOOOO!!!

bet on the Superbowl? |

Good God. Talk about missing the mark a bit. I checked my e-mail this morning, and found one asking me if I wanted to bet on the superbowl. It was dated hours after it was over.

Yeah, there were a lot of pre-Quake games that had 3D environments, and so forth. But what about the details? For instance, buttons on walls. In Doom, they got all artistic and drew them 3D, but if you look at it from the side, all you see is a flat wall. And the biggest difference, enemies! Load up pretty much any pre-Quake "3D" game, and kill an enemy. What do you see? The bottom of their feet. Circle around them as many times as you want, and you'll never see the head. Because they were as flat as paper, but drawn to look 3D. (and yes I know Descent used polygonal enemies) That's the biggest accomplishment of Quake. I had a friend/enemy that swore by MACs. All the time he would pester me about how much better Marathon was than Quake. Finally, to shut him up, I had him show it to me. I could barely contain my laughter when I saw a sprite filled game that reminded me of Wolf3D. I told him to do the trick that I talked about earlier, and then load up Quake and do the same. "Well, well, that doesn't matter! Who cares?" was the best he could come up with.

"Introducing the Microsoft Sidewinder Game Mind! Control the basic functions of any game just by thinking about it!"
Talk about the ultimate game peripheral. Count me in.

Worse than Atari wrist and Nintendo thumb was "Nintendinitus," in which the hand, particularly around the thumb joints, would cramp up, and be quite painful. I remember the first time (and last time) I got it, it was playing F-Zero for SNES, Grand Prix Mode, track Big Blue. You never forget some things. I thought my hand would be fucked up for life.

Tron Cycle?
Ugh.
WTF? Why are you complaining?
You're a highly advanced cycle (though graphically dated)that forms out of a set of handlebars. I should also mention that you move so fast you leave a deadly "wall of light" behind you. I fail to see why you're complaining, aside from being unliving.
(BTW, I'm not really a Tron freak, it's just that I just bought the 20th Anniversary Collector's edition)

I should put in my 2 cents on a third way to beat the button (though similar to the first). Using the failsafe that allows you to click a button, but as long as you don't let go of the button while the cursor is over it, you don't actually press it. Click and hold on the cancel, slide off, and the focus is set. Tab or shift-tab to get to continue.
Heh, I agree, there should be some page that congratulates you.
Oh, and btw, by my 133t mousing skillz, honed by years of Quake, I was actually able to click it the hard way. I'm just that good.

Blue, you should state on the link that it only works with crap, unsecure browsers.
He did state that. Just not in so many words. "Requires MSIE". For the accronymly (sp?) challanged, "Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Dedication |

I would like to point out and commend Blue and company for some serious dedication. People will say what they want, but Blue's last post was at 8:20 p.m. and Frans at 10:59 on Christmas Eve.
Thanks for all the work!
(But one must wonder about someone (me) who's taking the time to post this at 1:11 on Christmas morning)
